lol I was looking at the slope and nodding cuz I am a field tech for USFS in forest in Sierra Nevada adjacent to Yosemite. My job (actually my last three) entails hiking cross country and yes the slope is 🤯👀🏔️ Loving your work thanks for sharing your efforts are not unnoticed 👏
Great video. Since previous videos I assumed that Andrej must be from somewhere in central europe (accent + name). It was nice to see it confirmed and understand what he was saying/singing in the video. It brough a bit of familiarity to a video from the most remote country possible. I am from Slovakia and Czechs and Slovaks understand each other even though we have different languages. Looking forward to more videos and come to Europe one day.
You guys could have taken our paid Angelus hut bunks 😆 My friend and I were booked in that Saturday night but had to go from St Arnaud to Upper Travers hut instead, and then bust out a massive day over Waiau Pass on Sunday to beat the snow!
Oh man traverse was probably the steepest climb on the TA for us going nobo, I was dying 🤣. We also went up the cascade route to angelus hut side trail after seeing your note in farout (thanks! 😊), that was probably the highlight of our trip, especially hiking out on the Robert Ridge Route, unreal 360 views! We also got caught in the rain and stayed at speargrass hut just before it started pouring!
Hi Jack and Shannon, I'm planning a NOBO SI starting this December so your videos are a valuable planning resource especially the side trips through Routeburn and Cascade Saddle. Love your work ! Cheers
You'll have an awesome time!! Add angelus hut and robert's ridge in Nelson Lakes National Park to the list, that will be the day before you get to St Arnaud.
It was! Almost didn't go down to see it. It's so funny how thru-hikers work, we'll walk thousands of miles but if it's 80m off trail we'll skip it lol.
Hope you can reach out when you're in NH again, would be awesome to meet up with somewhere and thank you in person my friend 🫶🏻🙏🏻 Stay safe and take care 👊🏻👍🏻

You did travers and waiau in a day? That's a huge day!
It was a mission 😂 35km, 2,000m gain and 13.5 hours! We arrived at Waiau hut just after dark. Freaking epic day out though 🤩
@@kategiles7503 yeah and good thinking too the weather that came through was gnarly, we waited it out nice and dry in Nelson :)

I didn't think it was that bad but Marvel hated it haha. Glad you got to see Robert ridge, I'm bummed we missed it.
Some great waterfalls in those sections.
100%!

@@QuadzillaHikes I'll check them out, thanks for the tips.
Btw, trying out the elemental layer on your recommendation. Sizing looks to be a bit of a challenge though🙂
Thanks for the update 😊
Thanks for watching!
Another great video!!!

That is some crazy climbing! But that waterfall looked well worth it 😊
