    All I can say is that this video has too much BS and conjecture and not enough facts. You have a lot of good video and with some proper research and proper editing you could have an interesting and informative channel. So at this point on a scale of 1 through 10, I will give you a minus 82. Good luck on your channel. I have no interest in contributing or fact checking your channel, so don't contact me. I am not going to watch any more of your videos as my poor brain can't handle that much BS.

      @mikeheintz6861 Classic saws in action truly are a treat to watch! Turning down the volume and focusing on their power and precision is a great idea. Do you have a favorite classic saw that you enjoy seeing in action the most??

    I have 4 of these saws and they all run great... not sure if they are just talking about older antique saws (as most of these are) that are well worn... the poulan and craftsman (not sears) saws all suck in my opinion, but all the others seem fine... I'd like to try the wright saw zaw sometime and the bow saws... not practical, but cool

    • @raremachinery25
      @raremachinery25  16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @johnr9655 It’s great to hear that your saws are running well! It seems like you have a solid collection. The Poulan and Craftsman models, especially the non-Sears versions, did tend to have mixed reviews, especially when compared to the reliability of other brands like Stihl, Homelite, and McCulloch. Many saws from those lines, especially older or well-worn units, may require a bit more maintenance or might not have the same longevity.
      As for the Wright saw Zaw and bow saws, they’re certainly interesting but, as you mentioned, not the most practical options. The Wright saw Zaw, in particular, is a fascinating piece of chainsaw history. They aren’t as commonly used today, but they stand out for their unique design and function. Bow saws, similarly, while not a chainsaw, are a part of woodcutting history and are still favored in certain scenarios, mostly for their portability and simplicity.
      It would be cool to see how they perform compared to modern chainsaws, though! Have you had any experience with other vintage models or are there others you're interested in adding to your collection??

      @garengtutorial8923 Are you asking about the chainsaw with the largest engine displacement (CC)?? If so, one of the chainsaws with the biggest CC is the Stihl MS 880, which has about 121.6 CC, making it one of the most powerful on the market. Have you ever had the chance to use a chainsaw with this kind of power??

      @sidehilljokke_8492 Such a special connection to your past! Owning a Clinton 55, especially one similar to what your dad used back in the 60s, must bring back a flood of memories. It's amazing that he also had a Clinton 65 for a time-sounds like quality tools ran in your family!
      And greetings to you in Finland! What an incredible part of the world to be watching from. Do you still use the Clinton 55, or is it more of a cherished keepsake??

      @@raremachinery25 No I dont use Clinton, Ihave not even started it. It looks nearly new one and I believe it were not a lot to do to start it, but it is not important to me. To me important are memories of childness when I cutted firewood with Clinton - maybe I was a littlebit heavier than saw.. or an other way😄😄

      @raremachinery25  15 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @sidehilljokke_8492 It’s great that you have those memories with the Clinton saw, even if it's just sitting there now. Sometimes, it’s not really about using the tool but the nostalgia that comes with it. Those moments of cutting firewood, even if you were a bit heavier than the saw, are what make it special.
      It sounds like you have a unique connection to that time. Even if the saw isn't working right now, I hope you can hold onto those memories forever. It’s those kinds of things that make the old tools valuable, beyond just their function.

    This guy lost me. On his best all time chainsaws the x 12 was in his list.whats up with that.

    • @raremachinery25
      @raremachinery25  17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks for your comment! It looks like you caught a bit of the overlap between two of my videos. The McCulloch X12 made an appearance in both because, while it had some impressive features for its time, it also had certain limitations and quirks that fit the context of both videos.
      In the "Worst Chainsaws" video, I mentioned the X12 because of its reputation for having issues and being a bit of a challenge to maintain. But in the "Rarest and Biggest" video, it was noted for its power and size, which made it stand out as a unique saw in its category. So, it's really about the perspective of the context each saw was discussed in.
      What do you think?? Do you think the X12 was really one of the worst, or does its power earn it a spot in the "rare and big" list too??

      @ yes. And that fuel filter stuffed in bottom of tank. I ported it. Matched gaskets opened up muffler. Ground on carb for a feller. It actually ran really good. Come alive…,wanted to keep it. But I have one a guy give me. Just gotta get nerve to tear one apart again. And that odd carb and seal thing. Sheezzz

    • @raremachinery25
      @raremachinery25  17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @KellyMulford-v7y You’ve certainly put a lot of effort into modifying that saw. Porting it, matching the gaskets, and tweaking the muffler really seems to have paid off for you! The carb and seal setup can definitely be tricky, but it’s clear that you know your way around a saw. Do you think you’ll give it another go soon, or is there something about the project that makes you hesitate?? It’s always a bit daunting to tear it down again, but it must be rewarding when everything clicks back into place.

    I love old chain saws, bad or good all are little two strokes with someones idea of how a chainsaw should be.
    Your video is very inconsistent with showing the correct photos with saw description. Also, ive ran many of those saws with good results. So a matter of opinion is not necessarily a fact when it comes to old saws..

    • @raremachinery25
      @raremachinery25  16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @terrypikaart4394 You're absolutely right! Old chainsaws have a unique charm, whether they’re known for being durable or a little quirky. Every saw has its own story and engineering decisions that reflect the times and the people behind them. It's great to hear you have firsthand experience with many of them-those old two-stroke engines are definitely built with character and innovation.
      As for the video, I appreciate your feedback. It's true that consistency is key when presenting information, especially with vintage tools. Sometimes, the photos and descriptions may not always align perfectly, but that can happen when compiling information from various sources. I'll definitely take that into consideration for future content!
      And you're absolutely right about the idea of "opinion versus fact" when it comes to these older models. Many people have great experiences with saws that others might criticize, and that’s what makes these tools so fascinating. It really comes down to personal experiences and preferences. It’s all part of the fun of exploring vintage equipment.
      What’s your favorite old chainsaw that you've worked with? Do you have a go-to saw for specific tasks, or do you enjoy switching between them depending on the project??

    this announcer doesn't know what he's talking about my first saw was a minimax six great little saw lightweight great for pruning came with a 12 inch bar you could add the 14 inch bar for cutting small firewood at the time it was the best mine saw on the market they were difficult to take part but once you got the hang of it was easy home lite XL super was another lightweight saw easy to maintain

      @raremachinery25  16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @garysitek9954 It sounds like you’ve had some great experiences with the Mini Mac and the Homelite XL Super. Those were indeed popular, lightweight saws that many loved for their ease of use, especially in pruning and small tasks. The Mini Mac 6, with its 12-14 inch bar, was known for being an affordable, practical choice for homeowners. It was also recognized for being somewhat tricky to repair, but once you figured it out, it wasn’t too bad. As for the Homelite XL Super, it was a reliable saw that offered solid performance and ease of maintenance, making it a favorite for those looking for a dependable, simple tool.
      It’s great to hear from people who’ve actually used these models! They were certainly ahead of their time for light-duty chainsaws. Have you used any other models that you found just as reliable or interesting???
