Arty. I'm sorry this happened. But it made me think of that John Shedd quote: "A Ship in Harbor Is Safe, But that Is Not What Ships Are Built For." It means you're out there doing big work and you're not staying safe in harbor. One crash in so many years is amazing. I hope you make it through okay. And if not, I can't wait to see the rebirth story.

It's one of my my nightmares. hopefully Your equipment can be fixed. I'm Manfrotto user since early 90's, and I've recently decided to purchase a light tripod. I've bought a fancy K&F carbon tripod with Arca type plate and found it to be less secure than Manfrotto plate system. So I've bought another Manfrotto...
Haha, I am a manfrotto/gitzo user as well. So was it just the plate system that was worse than that of Manfrottos? or were the legs worse as well? I am curious cos I'm looking for another lightweight tripod for my video camera.
@@photoflooddaysManfrotto plates maybe are not better than Arca, but ate something I'm used to... This KF/Arca plates make me less confident because of the locking mechanism (with screw). Manfrotto locks with a click, and second click (if any) is required to secure the camera... Anyway, mounting the camera on a tripod is something I take special care of, as well as unlocking the head. This is something I've learned on my 4x5" times - doing something wrong was a risk of broken equipment, but broken finger bones too :)
