Hey everybody, welcome to Elite Athletes TV. I'm Mike Pawlawski, former 11 year pro and World Champion quarterback. Today, we're going to talk about Four verticals. But first, if you're new to the channel, make sure you subscribe and ring that bell. That way you get notified every time I have a new video coming out. Now, every quarterback loves throwing the deep ball. We love to get back and let it fly. But most quarterbacks don't realize that it's really a timing route. The further you go in your career, the faster receivers get, the more you understand throwing the deep ball is all about throwing on timing and letting them get underneath it. Today, we're going to talk about four verticals. Purely speaking. Four verticals isn't really like just sitting back and throwing the go ball. You're trying to attack the middle of the field more than you're trying to attack the outside. Now there are situations where you take those outside shots But we'll talk about that with a play from my Tampa Bay Buccaneers playbook. I will show you what it looks like in an NFL playbook. We'll talk through progressions reads, and what you should be thinking about as a quarterback and some variations of it that are more modern than what we were looking at this playbook.
When we say four verticals, that means everybody getting north and south, up the field. As a quarterback, you drop back, you read the safeties. If you can, you try to move him one way or the other. If you move him out to your left, then you come back and you throw that Pea in there to the right, drill the strike somewhere between 18 and 22 yards downfield because you're trying to keep it underneath that safety so he can't react and make a play.

Strictly speaking for verticals isn't really that deep ball shot that everybody thinks about when you're throwing the bomb, you're really attacking the middle of the field on those vertical seams. And if you get a matchup you like you can take your shot. Don't forget to subscribe to the channel and ring that bell get notified every time we have new videos out so you can keep learning the game.
