yeah which is kinda annoying because stuff like Dolls Frontline have really nice visuals in OP but the anime is nowhere as good.

Thing about "Wild Side", though. That dude is literally rapping in three languages. English, Japanese, French. ALI is centered in jazz, but they do a ton of mixing other things in, and they do it insanely well. Definitely worth putting a bunch of them on your playlist.
Also, yes it's an anime. The art style of very unique, but it is anime. This is actually based on some of the scenes from the show, but tweaked around to encompass the variety of themes they go through. It's a super interesting character-driven story. The second opening is a lot more reflective of the art style, at least in terms of the character designs.

The anime itself is all done in cgi (not all openings follow the style of the anime itself), which is incredibly unique, and very well done.
Beastars is a good anime, but it became seemingly forgotten after s2 after having become incredibly popular in s1. It wasn’t that s2 was bad, I think it just simply went out of style..which is unfortunate.
Since it’s a furry anime (anthropomorphic animals), it naturally put some people off checking it out, while attracting a more unique fanbase. And as good as Beastars is, is does have some…weird scenes, to say the least. Nothing that can ruin the whole viewing experience though, but it can ward off some people
It could be described as an adult version of zootopia, being it’s a mix of both being dark and lighthearted.

@@yfrufeyfryd2129 Honestly, i think calling it "dark zootopia" or "adult zootopia" is kind of doing a disservice to the story of Beastars. The show itself tackles entirely different aspects of what at most is a similar world structure to Zootopia. It is comparable, but i honestly think calling it that is not really the greatest or perfect way to describe it.
Would like to point out that the term "furry" is originally used to refer to an individual who adopted a fictional anthropomorphic animal as a persona (aka fursonas). Anthropomorphic animal characters that are not "fursonas" are incorrectly be referred to as "furries". But the internet being the way it is, just lazily slaps that label on all anthro characters.
My 19-year-old grandson and I watch Beastars together, we love this opening! He plays the bass and has mastered this song!
It's all great that you and your grandson watch anime together, but man are there some scenes that I would not want to watch with my grandparents.😅

Yoasobi is the group. The singer is Ikura (Lilas Ikuta) and her have very amazing solo songs and feats (with aimer and milet btw)

Beaststars is an interesting anime, it's a dive into human phycology through the lens of anthropomorphic animals (or furries if that gives you a better idea). Though it is not for a faint of heart though. While not as visceral as Attack on Titan or many other anime. It still involves many very mature and dark themes and topics. The story does a pretty decent job of showing what a world that is inhabited by literal carnivores and herbivores. Or predator and prey if you prefer. It's also referred to as "ADULT" Zootopia.
As for the graphical style, the stop motion is only the opening of the first season. That being said, the whole show is primarily in 3D CGI. While controversial, Studio Orange really put forward their best when they decided to take on this challenge. The show is really not for everyone, its designed to make you uncomfortable and to think about a lot of things. That being said I'd definitely say give it a watch. If it's really not for you, then no harm no fowl.

Kaibutsu is the Japanese translation for “monster”. Btw the story of this show is crazy good (which many starts questioning themselves of turning furry, lol) the story revolves on animal society segregating carnivores and herbivores and the wolf is the main protagonist… I want go into much detailing but just say that the wolf wants to be friendly with all kinds of animals… definitely check it out! Is a bit gory and revolving in mystery…
Beastars is one of my favorite anime of all time and yes, monster is kaibutsu and I’d love seeing a reaction to the full length song. The show is about anthropomorphic animals in a society focusing on the wolf dude. It’s only 24 episodes long right now with season 3 coming soon.
Beastars is a pretty good show people just see animal characters and write it off as a furry show even though it has really interesting themes and characters.

The ending from Beastars Season 2 is also made by Yoasobi called Yasashii Suisei .
Yeah the first opening with the stop-motion was just done that way as a cute, creative thing to do. The second opening's animation is more like what you can expect from the anime itself, its a CGI/Cell-shaded anime, very well done I might add. Its a very enjoyable series.
5:16 you have unfortunately once again been confused by the inconsistent naming of things on TH-cam. Kaibutsu is the Japanese word for Monster so it's just the same title in 2 different languages.
Beastars Opening #2 Is one of YOASOBI's (my favorite artist) only openings and their first. Even though I have never watched the show, I know the second opening is a banger and will always be. Thanks for reacting to both openings!

As a reminder, names for stuff from Japan often have both Japanese and English titles, and whichever version of the name is used more tends to be based entirely on how cool it sounds. In this video, Kaibutsu is a Japanese word for Monster, so that second song is named both, but you can see why they call it Monster in English because that makes you think of something while most non-Japanese speakers don't have anything to associate Kaibutsu with.
I watched both seasons of Beastars on a whim last year and it was such a pleasant surprise. Such a fun ride to go on. I recommend it.

I've not seen the show but I heard from people it's like the movie Zootopia about predators and prey if they actually were fighting their instincts and if things got dark.
I fell in love with the Beastars openings after seeing someone react to them, so I was super hyped to see you reacting to it! The story is very interesting, enough that I may take a stab at the anime despite not being a huge fan of the art style. I have been reading the manga for it, although not extensively, and I really like it so far.
The story revolves around Legoshi, the wolf, and Haru, the bunny. I have an understanding of the opening, but explaing the story is a little hard to do without spoilers. The easiest way to describe how it starts is as a murder mystery. Take that how you will.
The voice acting was also really perfect in the clips I have heard, even the dubbed version.
I do recommend the Bungou Stray Dogs openings as they are coming out with a fourth season soon. Opening 2 is everybody's favorite, I think, as it is amazing, but I like them all. Fun fact is that Jean's VA from AOT apparently sings at least one of them and he voices a character in it, to boot. I think you would have a lot of fun with it, although, in my honest opinion, there are better animes out there. It's mostly the pacing that gets me for this one; the story seems to crawl along at first, and it feels a bit padded.
I’m happy that my suggestion was finally listened to. The first opening was Stop Motion by the anime studio to help hype up the anime. (They even had a “Making of” video of the first opening)
And yes YAOSOBI did the opening and ending for the anime which are beautifully animated. You have to see the ending songs from Beastars. There is a 3rd season on the way but won’t be out until 2024.

Think of beastars as zootopia for adults and the world building is done extremely well
Beastars is great, I definitely recommend it. Also, good job on stopping the song right before my fav moment every goddamn time! Check out the full version of Monster/Kaibutsu, this is such a good video.
In case you're curious, beastars is an anime where carnivores and herbivores live in a human like society in "harmony" however the carnivores and herbivores are classified in the same way we humans classify race and it's an actually good anime that comments on human society as the way it is now
Beastars is a full CGI anime made by studio Orange, who are close to Pixar in the mastering of their craft. If you don't mind that the story leaves some plots behind, and focus more on character development more than anything else, the show is amazing. If you go with any kind of previous expectation it can feel a bit disappointing. I consider it a masterpiece, and its visual presentation is pure art

I'd like to say, Yoasobi is a duo. Ikura-san does the vocals, u saw on first take and Ayase-san makes the music. U saw him on the first take as well. He was there beside her.
Beastars is a great series, preeetty dark and mature too. I would recommend checking out the endings too (three for season 1, one for season 2), the ending of season 2 is a song by Yoasobi also! The three endings of season 1 change best on what fits each episode and as such do not have an official numbered order, but the order in which they are first shown in the show are: first "Le Zoo", second "Nemuru Honnou" (or "Sleeping Instinct") and third "Marble". They are all sung by the artist Yurika and can be found in Toho Animations official channel. They should give a bit better picture on what the show is about too, very worth a watch!

Anime = Animation, so technically yes. Also they indeed did the first opening in stop-motion animation! Absolutely love it as an avid arts person, the music is also insane and a bop, the series itself is pretty great as well even if many people were turned away from it cause of it's themes and animation. Animorphic characters, CGI animation, mostly school setting and all that. It's a great mystery/romance story though and the openings are fantastic, so are the endings!
Also, since you checked these out, I really want to recommend one of my favorite series' opening & endings since both the show and it's opening/endings are pretty unique; Spice & Wolf.

I love Beastars, watched the first season in one sitting with my brother one night. Adored it, haven't watched the second season though, but I do want to !
ALI has some bangers song Wild Side and the first ending of Jujutsu Kaisen Lost In Paradise of course being their most popular songs but in general they have very good songs, Yoasobi (2nd opening) are very popular too, huge in Japan and many people cover their songs
Beastars is a really good show, the manga has a very unique drawing style and to kinda make up for not being able to do it justice that way they made the show entirely in CGI (3D basically) it's incredible top tier animation, has great music and very adult themes. A lot of people don't want to check out the show and knock it out just because it has animals as characters without even understanding this show is only possible because it's made with animals, it talks about a lot of social political issues and dark heavy themes which if made with human characters would ask for a lot more censoring on the animation and story wise. At least that's my opinion, I personally enjoyed Beastars a lot despite going into it to see why some people hated it so much despite never watching a minute of it meanwhile every person who had watched it called it good, and I ended up binging it all of S1 on Netflix in a single night LOL
Studio Orange that is behind the Beastars anime adaptation also made adaptation of Land of the Lustrous both mangas are very unique and both series really can have some darker tones in them. As well the opening of Land of the Lustrous is worth checking out. It's Kyoumen no Nami by YURiKA

You actually covered this one!! I recommended it a while back, but I haven’t seen anyone else. This is the only anime opening over gone around telling people they need to listen to. Season 1 specifically, though I like S2 opening too. It is anime though. Just the openings are weird. Lol

Regardless of some of the “pray/predator” romance type stuff, whatever, I really liked how the story showed segregation amid the prey (ie the harlequin bunny thinking she was better), and the predators protecting the prey at night 😊
I've seen some people bringing up Studio Orange, the people behind the awesome CGI of Beastars and Land of the Lustrous. But I haven't yet seen any mention of their influence on Sony Pictures' Spider-Verse.
Apparently the animators at Sony took inspiration from Land of the Lustrous' cell-shaded look and incorporated it into their film. There's also the rumor that Studio Orange was actually asked directly to give advice for the movie, which helped create the distinct style of Spider-Verse, but I couldn't find any sources so if people know if that's true I'd love to know!

This show is pretty good and i feel like you'd like it for it's darkish themes and interesting animation, regardless if you like cgi or alike or not, first opening is mabe by ALI (same guys who did Lost in Paradise from Jujutsu Kaisen, and I really recommend you to react to Better Days, also a song from them.
As for the plot, without spoiling anything is pretty much criticizing lots of things from society giving them a little turn, this show is based in a world inhabited by anthropomorphic animals that represent humans, and shows the problems coming because of the differences on them, from where they live, what/who they like, and specially, what they eat, and thus the biggest elements of the plot come from them in very specific cases.
Beastars is SUCH A GREAT ANIME hands down. I did not know what Beastars was until I saw an edit of Legoshi on tiktok💀 but overall the animation they used (I could only say it’s like a 3D type of anime) but still it’s such a great way to use for this anime. the OST is GREAT and so GOOD. There’s two seasons on Netflix and the storyline is great. I hope there’s a season 3. I recommend you watch this anime PLEASE

Ok so, I didn't see a lot of people talking about what the story of this show is so I'll do my best to give it a little sumary
So, the world that is built in beastars is basicaly about a society of these antropomorphic animals living like us, they are basically the humans of this story, but because they are animals, the main issue on the society is the difference of herbivores and carnivores, they have created a balenced society, where the carnivores eat soy instead of actual meat so they don't need to kill herbivores, but there is always someone that breaks the rules. The protagonist of this show is (mainly) Legoshi, a shy and introverted teenage grey wolf that has horrible social skills, but falls in love with Haru, a white rabbit that likes flowers and... has some problems for being a herbivore, the first season is basicaly legoshi trying to show his love to haru, but strugling because of the carnivore/herbivore relation and because in the very beginning of the anime, his wolf instincts took control and he attacked haru in a foggy night, resisting the urge to eat her, she doesn't know it has him, but he knows that the one he tried to eat was her, and the second season is more of a investigation arc about the case of a herbivore that was friends with legoshi, that was eaten by a carnivore student of their school.
This show is a really interesting and funny romance, I definetly recomend you to check it out!

Just to help with your question about if it is called stop-motion or claymation, the latter is a form of stop-motion but stop-motion is also used for projects like The Lego Movie and others on a wider spectrum.

Since you're new to anime, I'll try to leave frequent comments with small bit of info to better help you understand the fandom and specific shows!
Usually, an anime season is about 12 episodes long! It's the most common episode number and the second most common is 24 episodes! Depending on the length of the season, the opening may change halfway (12 eps for longer seasons) or last for the whole season, but it usually lasts at least 12 episodes! Long running anime with no set seasons like Fairy Tail and Naruto tend to go by arcs and so the opening will last for the length/part of the corresponding arc in the show and may not have a set number of episodes per "season". I hope this helps!
Also in terms of opening reactions, I would definitely reccomend Bungou Stray Dogs or Blue Exorcist next!

So, YOASOBI also recorded an English version of Kaibutsu, and Monster is the official title of that version.
They'll be labeled as such on the band's official TH-cam channel, although unofficial videos may use the titles interchangeably.
Both openings and all of the endings for Beastars are very good. I can't ever skip them.

Well Monster is a translation from Kaibutsu/Kaijiuu and Kemono more or less and thank you for blessing us with your reaction. As for the first OP it is just arsticly so made so yes anime is normaly animated like AoT and such. For the anime i just say it is a good one and is an interesting one. Like you said world of animals. It is about the inner struggles of Carnivores and Herbiwores when they are in the same school/class and such. It is a school themed anime but more on the psychological side.
The full monster song by Yaosobi is one of my favorites 😁
The official translation of Kaibutsu is Monster so different covers or even the official versions go back and forth on which word to use or just use both in the title.
You should check out the endings too. I just double checked, Season 1 has three different endings it rotates with depending on the episode, and Season 2 has one ending that focuses on essentially the other main character of the anime(at least for that season).
Beastars is a show where there is no going back the moment you start watching.
You'll never be the same again.

Recommendation for a great stop motion is Kubo and the Two Strings. Really great movie, and the soundtrack has an amazing cover version of While My Guitar Gently Weeps.
You can watch beastars for a change............it's pretty fun......I have watched both season and you can watch the dub...........btw legoshi rocks!!
I believe the first opening is more pupperty work and not stop motion but I am not too entirely sure. It is also made by the same band who did the first ending for Jujutsu Kaisen. The second op is done by Yoasobi and she did the op for the newest Gundam show, Witch from Mercury. The show is a more mature, hornier version of zootopia. The actual show does not look like the first op, as nice as it is. The second op shows how the anime actually looks like. it is done in CG by Studio Orange who specializes in 3d anime. Their previous anime, Land of the lusterous definitely made people warm up to what a CG anime can be like and Beasters is a refinement of that. The op for Land of the lusterous is also really great. Definitely recommend it as well as the entire show. I just wish it got a second season.
Anime today I see usually as a style rather than this strict rule that it has to be from japan or look the certain way. it is how the characters act, the timing of the scenes, choreography etc that makes anime what it is. You look at panty and stocking and Ranking of kings and they look like disney shows and not exactly anime if you just go by how it looks.
There is a new anime with yoasobi opening its called gundam witch of mercury and arknights anime with opening made by reona. definetly reccomend

Yoru ni kakeru by Yoasobi is amazing (not the english version). Yoasobi have done some great openings. They recently did the new Gundam opening (gundam: the witch from mercury) which is really good!
As for artists like aimer, lisa etc you need to react to Milet (I recommend her songs "Drown" and "Inside you"). Also...yoasobi;s singer , milet and aimer did an original song together in the First Take called Omokage. Definitely worth checking out.
For other anime openings I'll recommend (AGAIN), Call of the night. One opening, one ending...both amazing as songs and spectacular animation.

This is number 3 on my top 10 anime list. It is deeply thoughtful and philosophical. It's like if Zootopia (Zootropolis) was completely serious. I did not have high hopes when I started watching it, but it had me hooked within the first 3 minutes.
