Beastars is a shonen *ish* story, that is primarily driven, and shines through, its characters. It explores a world of confusing grays, that only on first glance looks like black and white. The Characters really sell it and convey a lot of drama, intrigue and sometimes hilarious comedy.
Try it out a bit longer. Once you stop hanging yourself up on the animal part, it becomes one of the most original and nuanced stories you will see in a while. There is a reason this Manga was just behind "The Promised neverland" in popularity

Deus Vermiculus I actually started watching this because I kept seeing the manga volumes in stores, so I was curious why this series was so popular.
I honestly don’t mind the animal part of the show, though the ending of the second episode was... unnerving? weird? not sure what the best word for it, but I think you get what I mean

Ikr I am no furry and I watched this ironically but it ended up making me watch the whole show
The manga is basically a R rated Zootopia, while Zootopia explore the irrational fear and racism herbivores have towards carnivores, Beastars shows a world where carnivores are legitimately dangerous and bad for society, but the animals have to learn to coexist despite they'll be living in constant danger. It's a action-focused Shojyo about tolerance and sacrifice.
Protect Legosi at all cost.

The biggest struggle of this series tbh is gonna be NOT being attracted to Louis and Legosi. Soft Wolf Boi makes you want to protect/be protected and you wanna be stepped on by Deer Baby.

the toughest decision in this series is to choose which ship to ship, cause there are like dozens of them. I can name like 20 ships for Legosi off of the top of my head

Recently, women writer's advancement to boys' comic magazines is remarkable, such as Daemon Slayer and Beastars.
And then there are the less remarkable ones like most Marvel female writers. Isn't it amusing that the best writers are the ones who don't care about arbitrary women representation?

In Japan, there is a long history of distinguishing male and female comics, and Japanese people like me are used to this, so it looks strangely fresh and funny.
I feel that the current manga has improved the balance between roughness and delicateness thanks to the progress of women.

I love how you also noticed that Kai's VA is Bakugou's 😂 Nobuhiko Okamoto has one of the most characteristic voices and I swear I thought it was him the very second Kai opened his mouth.

Beastars is going to be one of the tops this year, I went and read the manga after ep 1, it is insanely good, the weakest arc is the first, and even that is great!

It REALLY takes off at the Play. Like Louis on stage with his problem, trying to be what everyone needs him to be makes you really root for him. Plus you get the first point of “Legosi never leaves a fight unscarred”.
Just really excited to see a Bear and some Lions.

Beastars actually won the taisho award for best shounen manga last year, it is quite good, the characters are great and relatable, like a superior and more realistic Zootopia, and yeah i do wish it wasn't 3D, but at least is not as bad as Berserk 2016, 2017

It's crazy looking back and seeing that the first episode foreshadowed Louis giving up his foot to Legosi. He offered it to him straight from the get go, but both intentions are so different!

Okay..,. sistah in the house I think I'll be a new sub. I felt the same way about Beastars when I first heard about it. So I checked out the anime and then I went into the manga and OMG it's worth. Very good story and quite dark for a "furry" type genre.

I've read the manga and yep is a shonen, it has a very interesting story, and the characters being animals is pretty bizarre at first but you get used to it, and Legosi is so pure omg, he's kinda like Tanjiro in a way, also the music is so good. They did a good job with the anime adaptation, even if it's cgi it looks cool, well they did Houseki no Kuni so yeah I'd expect awesome cgi scenes
When my preference becomes mainstream.

"Im not a furry" is what I said before getting into the manga. I totally lost it.
Also, the animation didn't convince me at first, but then I was just totally "yES THAT'S GREAT" because it works soooo well and it's perfectly made in my opinion. And the OST is a masterpiece, there's not point on discussion on that matter.

But... Human = Animal, so I can't really understand 'hatred' towards anthropomorphic non-human animals. That can be a base for a very good story and interesting world.
Bestiality is a taboo and furies have bad rep, there is also the uncanny valley thing
As much as I love this series I'm just not fan of 3DCG so I stick with the manga but glad your liking it Lara, and if I had to recommend a show watch Hoshiai no Sora trust me you'll love it 😃

as a furry, I don't think loving any anthropomorphic film, book or art automatically makes someone a furry. Your not a furry unless you say you are. However, ppl loving this series is showing the world why furries exist. We enjoy the art n stories and create our own art and stories for our characters. Some of us get suits of our characters. N again, none of those things makes someone a furry. Ppl can still like all those n do all those without being a furry.
