That data file in the water, from Olimars dream, is a refrence to Pikmin 1's bad ending. If you get less then 25 of the ship's parts when day 30 comes, Olimars ship will fail to escape the planet, and he will expire infront of the base. The Pikmin then carry him back into an onion, where he gets planted into the dirt. Sad part is, he was the only one that coul unroot pikmin from the ground, so I guess he would've been stuck there.
+jpz719 It's also in reference to the Captain's Napsack from Pikmin 2 that allowed captains to fall asleep, causing pikmin to carry them back to the Onion. Olimar's notes on the treasure are very similar to the data entry here.

I get ridiculously excited for these episodes every day. This series got me to try Mission Mode and I've been obsessed with it lately. There's just something about Chuggaa's enthusiasm that's contagious.

+Pyrocore77 Besides the final boss, most of the bosses in this game don't bring the tension that the ones in Pikmin 2 did. It's one of my major problems with Pikmin 3, actually. As weird as the Man At Legs was, it's among my favorite designs from Pikmin 2 simply because of how out of place a laser guided machine gun is in Pikmin.
I do love all of your let's plays and have seen you defeat other bosses in simpler uninntended ways but haven't felt let down until this one, maybe because of how tense and fun that fight was for me on my 1st and only playthrough I've had on this game, still I'm loving this playthrough overall!

Thanks to you, I was able to beat the Maestro Scornet so easily. You really taught me a lot. I did imitate you after beating the Maestro Scornet by carrying all the Scornets and the boss and the fruit making everything look like a number army empire marching down the tree.
I really need to dig this game out my closet...Now that I've seen past the part where you rescue Charlie a few episodes back, I really wanna play this game again. I've never been half as excited for a video coming up since the Animal Crossing lets-play last year (I had watched Chuggaaconroy's videos before, but not often until then. I love this channel now :O)
Hi Chugga. I played through pikmin 3's story mode and I managed to finish well because I watched your playthrough. I already finished it. I thought you did a really good job. You managed to use a lot of fast tricks and I managed to devolop my own fast tricks too. Thanks for the help.
Actually, if I remember in the first pikmin game, once you have collected your first part for Olimar's ship on the first day, if you press up (or is it down?) on the control pad, Olimar will lie down. If there's pikmin nearby, they will carry you back to the landing site and, whatever color of pikmin carry you the most, will put you underneath the dominant color. The result is that you get sucked and fail to go inside the onion and it causes a firework show.
I know I'm late but after rewatching all of these videos, I have a theory for Pikmin. What if the Scornet Maestro was another attempt from Louie, the King of Bugs to kill Olimar. Maybe he got corrupted by the Plasm Wraith on his travels during Pikmin 2, learned how to pilot the Titan Dweevil, and when that didn't work, he used his Pikmin commanding skills on the Scornets while piloting the Maestro. It doesn't look like he's inside the Maestro at the end of this fight, but idk. This would also explain why he runs off with the food later. there's a possibility he also controlled the Mireclops later. He then leads the crew of the Drake directly to the Plasm Wraith. Everything seems to line up, but idk if i'm missing anything. It would also explain why he eats meat, but we only know this AFTER he gets taken by the Wraith.
I wonder how the Pikmin knew not to take Louis into the Onion or plant him, or any of the unconscious captains for that matter. I guess the Pikmin were able to tell they were still alive, as opposed to Olimar in Pikmin 1's worst ending.
If someone has a fear of numbers why would they be playing pikmin in the first place? IT'S PRETTY MUCH A COUNTING GAME! The dead bodies have numbers, the secret files has numbers, EVEN THE FLOWERS HAVE NUMBERS!

That's known as "Pikmin Extinction". Upon that happening, the Onion will create another Pikmin, and that one Pikmin will need to be used to regain your numbers.

It is so irritating how everyone calls the leaders "captains". There are only two Captains in the franchise, Olimar and Charlie. Louie, Alph and Brittany are just "Leaders".

15:30 That's because it's literally Alph's job to do the analysis. Every member of the crew has a role. Alph is the mechanic, dealing with anything mechanical including analysis of found technology. Brittany is the botanist, dealing with fruit analysis and harvesting the seeds for future cultivation. Charlie is the captain, meant to be the leader and to assign tasks to the rest of the crew.

You always gotta love how there's usually a thing in games where you fight a huge boss that's big and tough and then a small boss thats fast and usually a graceful fighter.
Thanks to you I lost no Pikmin from this boss and I thought I was going to lose a ton of Pikmin but surprisingly I didn't thanks to your strategy! I used Charlie as bait and whenever the boss wasn't going to attack I would switch over and attack it! Eventually until it died!
Just in case anyones wondering, you CAN kill the smaller scornets being controlled by the maestro, and it DOES make the fight somwhat easier, as its unable to summon more to its aid. However it can also be annoying, because pikmin tend to oick them up. This is the battle that dodging is most useful in, especially the drill formation.Surprised chugga didnt mention this during rhe fight.
Chugga, I mean no disrespect or anything, but after watching this let's play, and then going back and watching your original Pikmin let's play, you sounded really depressed and sad during the old one. You sound so happy and excited in this one. And really sad in older ones.

The Pikmin had to survive somehow without Olimar's help. It's also possible that he would be able to dig himself out of the ground.

That's known as "Pikmin Extinction". Upon that happening, the Onion will create another Pikmin, and that one Pikmin will need to be used to regain your numbers.

Brittany is the botanist, dealing with fruit analysis and harvesting the seeds for future cultivation.
Charlie is the captain, meant to be the leader and to assign tasks to the rest of the crew.

You always gotta love how there's usually a thing in games where you fight a huge boss that's big and tough and then a small boss thats fast and usually a graceful fighter.

Thanks to you I lost no Pikmin from this boss and I thought I was going to lose a ton of Pikmin but surprisingly I didn't thanks to your strategy! I used Charlie as bait and whenever the boss wasn't going to attack I would switch over and attack it! Eventually until it died!

I love that when you throw a bomb rock at the orange bulborbs they look at it briefly then look at you again before dying.
Just in case anyones wondering, you CAN kill the smaller scornets being controlled by the maestro, and it DOES make the fight somwhat easier, as its unable to summon more to its aid. However it can also be annoying, because pikmin tend to oick them up. This is the battle that dodging is most useful in, especially the drill formation.Surprised chugga didnt mention this during rhe fight.
