It was a metaphor for the struggle against the series' doom. In this last cutscene X expresses his doubt that they will be able to change the future and survive for much longer, but Zero is optimistic. Unfortunately, X8 is currently the last mainline X game... what a melancholy ending
I love your take. It's poetic. I think this was really what the writers were trying to tell us. For all it's worth, I think the baton for the 'X type' sidescrollers has been passed down to the Gunvolt series. It was always a vision problem, an evolution for the sidescrolling genre moving forward. I don't truly think this line is dead either, but like the ending suggests, they'll have to fight against their own destiny and come out on top.

actually the megaman series has splited into two series after megaman x6 if you beat that game's last mission with x it goes further than 6 but if you do that with zero it goes with zero series and then ZX
That was clearly a retcon. In X6 X's ending, Zero says that he has to go somewhere to do something right after pulling out Gate, which is blatantly hinting at what he's done in his own ending. Zero sealed himself immediately not years after. X7 wasn't supposed to happen but it did and that's just bad writing or at least lack of foresight in which way to continue the series
It was lack of foresight more than anything else, really. It's kinda clear that _X7_ wasn't planned, if you look at how little effort they put into certain parts of it, and how awkward the retcon is. _X8_ was a bit better about that, but still marred by having to retcon _X6_ 's ending. And _X6_ ...well, it's kinda shit anyways. ;3

In Japan it's typical and quite commonplace that younger characters are voiced by female actors, to give them an almost child-like persona. Just saying.

If they ever do a X9 I hope they reveal what happened to Axl, especially since it seem a piece of Lumine seem to go into him. Maybe it could have a story in which he goes Maverick and they could go into to a bit of his origins (such as who created him)... I can only dream...
Don’t think he had the same boot test like x and zero. He was shut off during build. Axl might get compromised from within. His soul(personality) would randomly go into combat mode without warning or even him realizing it. The base repair teams would be working on him when sudden red lights in eyes appear out of nowhere. Alia would of been alerted to unknown signatures within repair bay where axl is. Obv an emergency response would trigger upon discovering that cams were suddenly shot at with reploid s being injured. Once they arrived with a security detail, they realize that something has infected axl body within his cpu in his head while axl is suddenly shouting something wrong with my mind and body. Obv this unforeseen event would cause a panic within base upon discovery that axl been infected with unknown type of code that somehow tortures him if not knocked out and immediately shut down for code repair. X and zero did return with axl but may have left to resolve some issues nearby related to some smaller enemy attacks. Then be forced to return upon receiving emergency request for stunning axl directly due to unknown code affecting him badly enough to require a wipe of recent events up until sigma. The duo would be shocked by why axl body is working but axl mind not in control of his actions, asking Alia what occured to have had axl go through that experience they just had. Obv Alia would say axl mind been directly tapped at his crystal core, resulting in need of removal of his armor plus crystal for his head just to get a Data line into axl mind for storing him in hunter hq until they resolve more immediate issues to around how his body got infected. X and zero saw luminiferous body had changed into something directly hitting axl head. Alia would say that there is a high chance that there is a possible evil energy directly in the crystal that needs to be sealed off without damaging his cpu due to it being a potentially deadly virus for reploid lives if it escapes. More teams would arrive to assist in getting materials needed to quarantine the foreign object just to remove from axl body before cleaning up axl memory of recent events to keep that virus from reproducing.
That's only one. In other hand, there's more to mentioned, worth 2 decades and more. You can figure out which is which in megaman games that worth within the time.
I love that zero and x are still fighting against their inevitable destiny battle against one another set by their creators it also keeps the x2 or 3 ending going where the only way to end the war is with zero being taken out of the picture
Lumine is like Megaman Juno--smiles constantly, calm conduct, and very serious towards an end goal and he is not afraid to commit mass murder towards reaching that goal.

5:44 A detail I love about the scene before the Lumine battle is that you see X and Axl react to the reveal - dawning comprehension and horror on their faces as they realize that Sigma isn't the true villain this time... and you _don't_ see Zero's reaction. Because the odds are that he'd already figured it out from the start - he's the savvy one between the three, balancing out the naivety of the other two.

Actually, Capcom had been planning to make X9, but for some reason they said "Eh, screw it" and decided to make Maverick Hunter X instead. After that, Capcom was going to do MHX version of X2 to X6, but for some reason they said "Eh, screw it" and haven't made a Mega Man game ever since.

Potatos 26 X is not at all like Sonic to be honest. Sonic always likes to cut it close, is bashful and sometimes even selfish. He admits he has the biggest ego and tries to not accept help from others, except when they insist and he knows he _needs_ it. X accepts the fact that he's not the best hunter and tries to make strategy. He heads back to the base instead of doing one thing after the other immediately. They may both be heroes, but there's a large difference between them.

The lore and timeline of Mega Man X is convuluted but I take it as Zero doesn't want to fight anymore because he believes he's the reason why there are mavericks (He's pointed to be the original carrier/source of the virus). So he believes that by removing himself from the front lines, there will be fewer mavericks. He then tells X to fight because he trully believes that X is the only one who can stop the war, not him. It's like removing the source of the virus (Zero) then cleaning up what's left of the infected (X's job). I think this is hinted at between X5 and Megaman Zero. I mean, of course I could be wrong. It's just how I interpreted Zero's statement.
We hope there will be also new Megaman X 3D Animation TV series with seasons(1~9~), with Mm X series 3D characters who look like '2023~2024 Monster High', 'Disney Frozen', 'Disney Big Hero 6', 'Disney Tangled', 'Disney Moana', or 'Toei's Miraculous' characters, in the future.

If they ever do a X9 I hope they reveal what happened to Axl, especially since it seem a piece of Lumine seem to go into him. Maybe it could have a story in which he goes Maverick and they could go into to a bit of his origins (such as who created him)... I can only dream...
Don’t think he had the same boot test like x and zero. He was shut off during build. Axl might get compromised from within. His soul(personality) would randomly go into combat mode without warning or even him realizing it. The base repair teams would be working on him when sudden red lights in eyes appear out of nowhere. Alia would of been alerted to unknown signatures within repair bay where axl is. Obv an emergency response would trigger upon discovering that cams were suddenly shot at with reploid s being injured. Once they arrived with a security detail, they realize that something has infected axl body within his cpu in his head while axl is suddenly shouting something wrong with my mind and body. Obv this unforeseen event would cause a panic within base upon discovery that axl been infected with unknown type of code that somehow tortures him if not knocked out and immediately shut down for code repair. X and zero did return with axl but may have left to resolve some issues nearby related to some smaller enemy attacks. Then be forced to return upon receiving emergency request for stunning axl directly due to unknown code affecting him badly enough to require a wipe of recent events up until sigma. The duo would be shocked by why axl body is working but axl mind not in control of his actions, asking Alia what occured to have had axl go through that experience they just had. Obv Alia would say axl mind been directly tapped at his crystal core, resulting in need of removal of his armor plus crystal for his head just to get a Data line into axl mind for storing him in hunter hq until they resolve more immediate issues to around how his body got infected. X and zero saw luminiferous body had changed into something directly hitting axl head. Alia would say that there is a high chance that there is a possible evil energy directly in the crystal that needs to be sealed off without damaging his cpu due to it being a potentially deadly virus for reploid lives if it escapes. More teams would arrive to assist in getting materials needed to quarantine the foreign object just to remove from axl body before cleaning up axl memory of recent events to keep that virus from reproducing.

A detail I love about the scene before the Lumine battle is that you see X and Axl react to the reveal - dawning comprehension and horror on their faces as they realize that Sigma isn't the true villain this time... and you _don't_ see Zero's reaction. Because the odds are that he'd already figured it out from the start - he's the savvy one between the three, balancing out the naivety of the other two.
i feel like megaman x9 wouldve been the last megaman x and we wouldve seen it if people wouldve just bought this damn game. same goes with zx advent as well.
Actually, Capcom had been planning to make X9, but for some reason they said "Eh, screw it" and decided to make Maverick Hunter X instead. After that, Capcom was going to do MHX version of X2 to X6, but for some reason they said "Eh, screw it" and haven't made a Mega Man game ever since.

Potatos 26 X is not at all like Sonic to be honest. Sonic always likes to cut it close, is bashful and sometimes even selfish. He admits he has the biggest ego and tries to not accept help from others, except when they insist and he knows he _needs_ it. X accepts the fact that he's not the best hunter and tries to make strategy. He heads back to the base instead of doing one thing after the other immediately. They may both be heroes, but there's a large difference between them.

9:25 isn't it weird how Zero thought to himself of retiring but right after he went to tell X to keep on fighting? Isn't that a bit suspicious? Did he suddenly change his mind? Is he lying?
The lore and timeline of Mega Man X is convuluted but I take it as Zero doesn't want to fight anymore because he believes he's the reason why there are mavericks (He's pointed to be the original carrier/source of the virus). So he believes that by removing himself from the front lines, there will be fewer mavericks.
He then tells X to fight because he trully believes that X is the only one who can stop the war, not him.
It's like removing the source of the virus (Zero) then cleaning up what's left of the infected (X's job).
I think this is hinted at between X5 and Megaman Zero.
I mean, of course I could be wrong. It's just how I interpreted Zero's statement.

We hope there will be also new Megaman X 3D Animation TV series with seasons(1~9~), with Mm X series 3D characters who look like '2023~2024 Monster High', 'Disney Frozen', 'Disney Big Hero 6', 'Disney Tangled', 'Disney Moana', or 'Toei's Miraculous' characters, in the future.
