    Dom, you nailed this one! This has to be the best MK1 wheel overview out there hands down. Just awesome, great work as ever!!!!!
    I have some questions which I will mail you with (thanks for ALWAYS replying & with such useful info). It’s about time I bought you a drink!
    For me the standard RS 18” just says MK1, a classic solid looking rim. Personally I would add a spacer but that’s not for everyone. If you want standard rims the RS gets my vote, it may be a common fitment but, in good condition looks great.

    • @TheParrottBros
      @TheParrottBros  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree they are probably the best looking / iconic wheel for the MK1 TT. There seems to be a massive influx of replica wheels which are made out of chocolate though 😂
      Company’s obviously saw how popular they were in the early days and decided to capitalise on it.
      Fitment wise they sit perfectly with 15/20 from and rear spacers I agree.
      Thanks for the comment always nice to know I’m doing something right 😂😂

    Since you're doing everything you need to know on ribs and tires maybe you should do a specialty video on how the CV axles for the Audi Tt actually relate to the tire size.
    I've had so many parts stores tell me your rim size doesn't have anything to do with the CV axle.
    At this point I just say Okay your computer will ask us in a second.

    Great video and super helpful. I have a 2002 Audi TT ALMS that is strictly an autox and track car. We moved classes this year and can run any size wheel and tire we want. We can also cut or roll the fenders to make more room. Do you have any idea what the widest tire I can fit would be? Ideally, I'd like to get to 10" wide, get fender flares for the poke (which is acceptable per the class rules) and get as much grip as possible. The only concern really is up front, how wide can we go before we hit the frame or anything mechanical. Any thoughts?

    • @TheParrottBros
      @TheParrottBros  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As long as your offset isn’t too high you shouldn’t really have any issues with inner rubbing. You can run an 8.5” wheel and and 15mm spacer without any issues so a 10” wheel at the right offset will be fine with a flare or some trimming no problems

    Thanks for this, I'm in the midst of deciding what to do with tyres/wheels.

      The larger the wheel, the shorter the tire's sidewall and the wider its tread must be to maintain the same outside tire diameter and prevent reducing the tire's load-carrying capacity. The shorter and wider the tire, the better the handling and cornering grip
      wheels that are much larger than the car's original set could have a negative effect on the transmission by causing it to work harder than normal in order to turn the axles and move the car. Eventually, this could cause premature transmission failure
      Not to mention arch space and travel

    Like the ABT wheels but would prefer 'snowflake' spokes. With 'snowflakes', center of wheel seems to disappear, a very desirable illusion. Looked at an assortment of aftermarket wheels and they all had the spokes going all the way to the edge of the outer rim. ABTs have a 'lip' and ones pictured fit under the fender. Pushing the center in to get a 'lip', pushes the outer rim and tire away from the car. Is the car pictured on air bags and if not, is it even drivable?

    • @TheParrottBros

    • @TheParrottBros
      @TheParrottBros  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t know enough about 19’s as you would compromise some ride comfort with slimmer lower profile tyres which I’ve always tried to avoid as like driving hard and not worrying about damaged wheels.
      You can use the same website to work out 18’s vs 19’s. The main issues I guess would be width and offset as most 5x100 cars that would run 19’s would run wider widths and lower offsets
