Strangely subdued from Richter, but Gutman gives it her all - as always! Saint-Saëns would have found the opening mvt too pedestrian, I'm quite sure. The chorale, I don't know, there's something missing... they went for something really ascetic and almost monochrome, but in my opinion it could have sounded so much more mystical and ecstatic! Proof that Saint-Saêns's music too only lives 'between the lines', just like Beethoven and Brahms.
They make a great pair.
The interpretation that makes more sense to me. Thank you for sharing!
The comfort of Natalia‘s cello is an order of magnitude more wonderful
She is an Alchemist of the cello
Thank you so much for sharing! Do you have more videos about Natalia Gutman?
