A much underated vegetable and, especially as the supermarket packs sell you more than you need for your recipe, this is a great way to use all the celery. Good job!
Outstanding - looking for video description for braised celery that goes with Boulud’s short ribs in red wine. But now have to watch your other videos - love the commentary - I vote for a food network show.
Hi Paula, love the idea of cooking the celery this way! I've made braised leeks for couple of times, using the similar recipe, with white wine and butter and it was absolutely delicious. So I know how good this celery is. I don't know about celery juice, but I love to add some celery into my smoothies, in fact celery is my go-to smoothie vegetable. Anyway, thanks for sharing the recipe! Keep it up! Just subbed!
Hi! Thanks for coming by! I don't think there's any way to make buttery winey vegetables taste bad. Leeks are one of my all time faves and I think they're highly underrated! So for this celery smoothie thing, are you using a Vitamix? or just a normal blender?
Jess, I'm so glad you asked. This is a hot debate. Although you never really taste the flavour of bay leaves, I find that they add a sort of depth of flavour in the background. You can leave them out, and you probably wouldn't miss them. But I do find that their very subtle flavour is always nice in a soup, stew, or braise. On a personal note, it makes me feel really warm and cozy inside, the moment I add bay leaves to a pot. There's definitely a psychological element there!
How To Make Dinner Yes! I add them when I have them, but it’s not a flavour I can identify later. I just trust that it added something 🤣 Another great video! I always learn something new 👏
I think you'd like it! Just keep in mind, it's a knife and fork affair, to cut through the fibrous bits. Some people remove the strings before cooking but I just use the knife and fork method!
I know SO many people doing the celery juice thing! I'm not, but I have always loved celery and almond butter as a mid-afternoon snack when I'm at work!
Just ran out to the market 4 the 3rd time today cuz I keep adding ingredients to my butternut squash soup recipe. Celery is my last run out . No more ! LOL Roasted Butternut squash, carrot, Vidalia onions, "GALIC", Yams, Green Apple,CELERY, Nutmeg, cinnamon, real maple syrup, Olive oil, Creamy butter, salt, pepper, and cream. and for garnish..... Plain yogurt swirls on top with cut chives.....yeah bay-bee 😎👍oh I forgot, Chicken bone broth, water.I may add a red potato.
Wow. Such enthusiasm. Especially at the end. I don't know if you realize that you need to fake a smile and fake being happy and excited to get people to like and sub. I feel sad now. Bye.
I'm curious to know who has been doing the celery juice thing?

I totally agree. It’s always nice to have plenty of options! I’m glad you liked the video :) Thanks!
That is a good sound
So good isn't it!

What do bay leaves do? 🤷♀️

I’ve never braised celery!

And raisins? I love ants on a log! Either way, ants or no ants, I'm a supporter of your snack choices!

Hahah I’m 100% familiar with days like that! Hmm maybe that’s a good tag line for some merch! #dontforgetthecelery
Reminds me of braized Belgian endives
Totally! Similar vibe. You can do the same treatment with leeks too!
Is there a sub for the wine?
Just skip it!
I so want to cook that and your rather lovely too.
Thank you so much! I hope you enjoy the celery!
IT sounds like a crackling fire! So homey!
Isn't it great! I love the sounds of cooking
You should taste test the final result. We'd like to know the flavors and textures.
Did I not? This was so long ago. I always try to do that nowadays 😅
Be sure to wash each stalk and dry well before it goes on the heat.
nice recipe... do narcissi grow where you live?
They do! That's the same thing as daffodils right?
YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL, PAULA!!!
Ahh you are the sweetest! Thank you for the love, can't wait to spend time with you Peti! xo
