- This is part 3 of a 100% walkthrough of Banjo Kazooie (XBLA version). This part includes Clanker's Cavern. This is one of my all-time favorite games and I just recently decided to purchase the Xbox Live Arcade version of it. This walkthrough is going to be a relatively quick 11 part series.
This channel features instructional & highly edited video game guides, walkthroughs, speedruns and other uniquely transformative videos. My own personal gameplay, extensive editing & creative input are clearly added into each video, ensuring that all videos adhere to TH-cam's partner program guidelines. I honestly really hated this level, mainly because Banjo REFUSES to grab the fucking air bubbles.
I swear i really wanted to punch someone 😭

Clanker inspires a unique style of body horror. As a child, I wasn't afraid of him at all, but as an adult, he inspires this "Dog that's been kept alive for too long" response in me, like someone who is half-rotten and on life support. They went all the way with the "uncanny" valley, like the blood vessels in his eyes, respiration sounds, his open ribcage, and swimming inside of him in the first place. When you're swimming, you're thinking "Uh, what part of this is blood and what part of this is sewer water?" A question I never want to fucking ask myself IRL.

Also the drowning simulation when you need to free him. As a child that might not freak you out but this has been the most frustrating task to me as an adult. I just skipped it and went to freezees and Gobi but now I need to go back to get to the mole hill inside of clanker to learn how to use the invincibility feathers. Is this a new sentence?

IKR? Clanker is a shockingly gruesome creation.
That part where you swim in the key, was one of the most frustrating parts in the entire game just because of the absurdly slow turning speed when swimming.

Late reply, but hold left or right bumper while swimming underwater and you'll turn way faster, it helps a lot. Note that this will not affect the speed of turning up or down. Also doesn't work at all in Banjo-Tooie because in that game, the turning speed was increased by default.

Trivia: The sounds of Clanker speaking are different than any other character in the Banjo-Kazooie series, as he will make very long groans while speaking, whereas any other character makes constant short-timed mumbles. The actual sounds that Clanker makes are Banjo's slowed down, as said by Grant Kirkhope
I started this level for the first time today and I already loathe it.
Am I the only person that got scared the shit out of by Clanker and those slug monsters that come out of those weird sewage holes? I remember when I was eight and those slug monsters got me freaked out all the time. I avoided Clanker's cavern for like a month, till I realised I didn't have enough jiggies to get through to the other worlds.

Same. As a kid clanker was not what i expected out of the game. Turned it off and avoided the level until i absolutely needed the jiggies but i had to do it with the tv on mute
Clanker is the thing I want the most to see a modern remake of. I can’t imagine the dread devs could pull off with better textures, models, and effects.
Putting this on Xbox Live is possibly the only good thing Microsoft has done with Rare

Sure, Clanker is tragic, but the shrill strings in the deep underwater theme made my heart jump when I first heard it.

It still scares me and I'm 23 years old. It sounds like I'm in extreme danger, so far underwater that the water pressure is so high that it's trying to crush my skull in on itself and I need to get to the surface immediately. The first time I heard it, I swam back to the surface and didn't want to go back. I eventually did, but wow, I was NOT expecting that.
Such a fantastic game! Rare made so many great games back in the day...it's a shame what's happened to them now

@@grammajam3682 Controls are a bit slippery, the camera sucks sometimes, and there's a few glitches, but all in all, really fun, really charming game. As long as you don't get too serious about it, it's a fun ride. Just watch out for the glitches if you're going for 100%. Just go to Google and look up, "missing 4 jiggies in Click Clock Wood" and read a few of those things, it'll explain better than I can.

This man knows his game. It is also a lot easier to play on an xbox controller than a nintendo controller.
And the uploader was like: "Why the fuck does part 3 have so many fuckin views!?"
A quick tip for the swim controls is that when using kazooie to swim and you stop you’ll slide instead of coming to full stop. If you press the button that makes banjo swim it’ll get rid of your momentum while your in that sliding state of swimming, which bring you to a full stop.
I remember seeing Clanker for the very first time. He scared the sh*t out of me! Even nowadays he looks super scary, especially with all these bloody spots on his body. Geez, things like this in a KIDS game would be a total no-go nowadays.But man I miss playing this game so, so much. The graphic is stunning for this time and all those lovely little details they have put into the game. Wonderful, just wonderful :)

WTF, I was so scared of Clanker as a kid. I beat the whole game and even Grunty w/o the invulnerability move that's hidden inside him.

I spent like half an hour trying to find that last puzzle piece and since I had the five little guys I though I had that one. Turns out I missed grabbing that last piece after grabbing that last guy.

This level would be so much easier if you could actually swim at a reasonable speed and the camera cooperated when trying to even find the key.

I’ve been an N64 owner since it first came out, but my first time playing this is when came to the switch. I feel bad knowing I missed out on this jewel. I absolutely love this game.

2x video speed was how fast the swimming should have been.
I know jontron said this game looked aged but I don't think it looks as aged as some games like ffvii.
Why does everyone skip the Mumbo Token on Clanker's other tooth in these 100% completion videos? This is the third one in a row I've watched that skipped it.
Also, geez, you were pretty ballsy with your oxygen meter at some points.

It seems your sequence-breaking caused a message ("Clanker's teeth hurt...") to happen when it shouldn't (because you already shot out the bad tooth).

Clanker's bad rust day
In all honesty, I never got so far to Clanker's Cavern. I mean, I opened it, but didn't really play it; I guess it creeped me out as a kid. XD (I had this game on N64)

Digestion must be actual hell for Clanker. From what it looks like, his entire digestive system is a mix of mechanical, spinning blades and grinders with regular tissue, with said mechanisms constantly interacting with the tissue without guards or buffers. That system is tearing Clankers flesh from the inside, as if this poor thing wasn't going through enough bodily harm and torture already.
Clanker scared the crap out of me as a young teen when he greeted me at the tunnel. Also I never knew he use to be a real shark! Poor thing as turned into a rotting cyborg with some of his flesh showing on the outside 🤢.

Freeing Clanker was always my biggest challenge of the game.
Thank you so much! I finally beat this level on my Nintendo switch! I never got the last puzzle pieces with the shark & gave up on my 64 as a kid.

Whoever made the swimming mechanic and this particular level in the game needs to be slapped in the face, it's the most annoying piece of 3d platforming game i've ever played. Well, maybe a second place after Uka Uka fight in Crash of the Titans.

This is probably my least favorite world in this game!!! I hate it so much that I save it to the very end as much as possible. God, the stress it gives me because you have to be underwater the whole time is too much. I hate it with a passion!! I've died more times in this world than any other time just because of stupid drowning

when i first came to this world [guys, i have started playing the game this week], i thought it would be better to swim slower than when you press X, but i kept drowning when going to surface clanker and at first i wasn't a good swimmer in this game so i couldn't touch gloop's bubbles for air, but that made me switch to fast swimming only and so when i tried again, this time swimming with X instead of A, i was able to surface clanker and get back to the surface in time before i drowned
also a funny thing that happened is i checked an open pipe to the right of clanker for anything in there and banjo just collided with the wall so i started to swim away, but somehow i teleported inside the pipe and as i struggled to get out (turning underwater in this game is different than what i expected) banjo vibrated and it caused me to laugh (and save a replay) and yes i did collect the extra honeycomb piece that was there

That deep underwater part was scary for me as a kid. And that music, did they really have to make something in a children's game so scary? I still get chills from the deep underwater part to this day as a grown woman.

He was never not friendly. He was just so big and imposing.
Watching you just frickin play with the breath meter and just refusing to go up for a new breath before going somewhere else is one of the most nerve wracking and frustrating things i swear.

That really deep underwater part when you're freeing Clanker always gave me anxiety as a kid, was it really necessary for them to make the music so scary? It sounds like extreme danger, like the water pressure is so high from being so far down that it's going to crush my skull in on itself if I don't try to go to the surface RIGHT NOW.

I have been glitching in his mouth to jump off his teeth to land high enough to jump again, for the skull. I got close, Alot, but had to finally see how to really get it lol. Game sharking on the shark.
How does banjo and kazooie survive swimming in sewer water?
Well normally they can't, but they do get Bubbles from Gloop the fish that helps them swim around in the Anvil area is.

Clanker's Cavern is the Fungus Forest connection.
The part of the level I really hate are those chompy guys that come out of the pipes. because the first time through, they gave me a heart attack, but then you know what to look for, and you concentrate on finding them, and you're covered. but then you get to the big open room with Clanker, and if you're like me, you're walking/swimming around thinking "where in the name of Gruntilda's stained undergarments is the next Jiggy?!" Then you walk onto one of the platforms with items on them, and THOSE MOTHERFUCKERS come out and Five Nights at Freddy's your ass. what I'm saying is, they're easy to keep track of when you're concentrating on them. but when you start thinking about something and get distracted, they EMERGE and JUMP YO ASS when you least expect it.
Banjo’s face in the top left corner looks more disturbing than Clanker, I think it’s the eyes 😨

CuriousUserX90 From listening to it myself, I can't really some to note any Connection Sorts to Banjo.
Well you can just speed up the speech texts with any character by holding the jump button or completely skip it with the attack button.
