    A really good train set. Ok, expensive. But good. It reminds me to the lone ranger train set. So lego has had good western trains already. Keep up the good work.

    The metal train axels are still in production. They are in 76423 Hogwarts Express & Housmead Station and 60423 Downtown Streetcar. Lego might be phasing them out, but they are still in sets on shelves.

    Controversial option.... All lego trains should be 8 studs wide. the compromise between the highly detailed 10 stud wide strains AND the 6 stud wide lego track.

    • @GimbleOnDew

      When cars are 6-8 studs wide, how does it make any sense to how trains only be 6 wide.

    Already ordered it before seeing your motorization video. So much better than the static Orient Express! A LEGO train should always be able to be motorized out of the box. A big fail for LEGO and the reason I still haven't bought this set.
    P.S. The latest Hogwarts Express & Hogsmeade Station 76423 from 2023 actually has metal axles, but sadly no magnets. I'd rather have magnets than metal axles for light trains like this WW Train.

    Is 1.2 the standard voltage of AAA batteries in Europe? In the US, they’re usually 1.5 like the rechargeable ones you mentioned.

    • @RacingBrick
      @RacingBrick  5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      1.2V is the standard voltage for the rechargeable AA/AAA batteries. Alkaline batteries are 1.5V, but I prefer to use rechargeables.

    Thanks, Balaz. Can you advise which motorization is more straightforward, this or the Orient Express?

    • @JamesBoxxy
      @JamesBoxxy 5 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      This seems a lot easier as it's a simple train motor and battery box swap, and the tender is already fully designed with this motorisation in mind! The Orient Express on the other hand needs more parts adjustment to make the motorisation work effectively. I'm glad the integration seems so simple here! 👍

    • @RacingBrick
      @RacingBrick  5 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

      This one is much more straightforward

    • @BrickByte
      @BrickByte 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@RacingBrick Thanks a lot for the reply. Does the motorization make this a better buy than the Orient Express? There are no comparisons anywhere for the two sets, and I see a very close value proposition for both (OE-iconic, display, robust, no easy motorization) vs (WWT-unique, playable, fragile, motorization)

    • @RacingBrick
      @RacingBrick  5 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@BrickByte you won't find detailed comparisons since BDP set samples are distributed in a very limited quantity in advance. You can see them side by side in my video, if you watch both reviews about the Wild West Train and my earlier videos about the Orient Express, you should be able to decide which one is better for you.

    I think the Lego hub is a conspiracy with battery companies because it makes no sense why these do not have built in lithium components

    • @RacingBrick
      @RacingBrick  5 วันที่ผ่านมา +5

      It's been discussed a lot of times already.. proprietary batteries by LEGO would be more expensive, more difficult to buy, and their availability would highly depend on a single company.

      @RacingBrick it's maddening at this point

    • @RacingBrick
      @RacingBrick  5 วันที่ผ่านมา +6

      @@marktackman2886 might be maddening for you, but completely reasonable in case of a toy that is available worldwide. Check out the Porsche RC Technic set from last year. It has a custom rechargeable battery made by LEGO. Can you buy it separately? No. Does it have any advantages over regular batteries? They could tweak the form factor a bit, but since it is in a special highly integrated hub that no other sets use, it really doesn't add any advantages at this point.

    • @marktackman2886

      And now imagine in 15 years time, when powered up is replaced with something different, and discontinued, and you can’t buy a battery for it anymore. Maybe on the second hand market you can for a bit more, but that will soon get expensive.

    Xtar batteries are 15x the price of Ikea batteries, the difference is minimal, the extra voltage doesn't give anything extra and the speed is about the same. With Ikea batteries (750 mAh or 900 mWh) you can drive around for 3 hours, with Xtar (1620 mWh) you should be able to drive for 5 - 5½ hours
