FILM DESCRIPTION:
Thornton Melon (Rodney Dangerfield) is concerned that his son Jason (Keith Gordon) is unsure whether to go to college, so the uneducated self-made millionaire encourages him by signing up as a student as well. As Jason tries to establish himself among his peers and make the diving team, Thornton falls for a pretty professor (Sally Kellerman) and gets others do his schoolwork for him. When the suspicious dean (Paxton Whitehead) finds out, Thornton needs to show he can get by on his own.

Keith Gordon cracking up is great, I don’t think that was scripted. But how could you not be in a scene with Edie McClurg and NOT crack up? I don’t think she ever had a moment on film where she wasn’t hilarious.
It wasn’t scripted, he couldn’t stop so they kept it in.
She was hilarious in Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

I always found it hilarious how Keith Gordon is cracking up during this scene!

I guess the story is that they were both having a hard time maintaining straight faces, so the filmmakers thought it'd be easier just to shoot it with them cracking up. I guess they were laughing not so much at what she was saying between takes but her thick Wisconsin accent 😂
Keith tries to hide his laughter throughout most of his scenes with Rodney Dangerfield. Dont blame him.

She was so hilarious AND brilliant in this and especially Ferris Bueller’s Day Off as Grace, the school secretary.
I find it ironic that Thornton Mellon is a millionaire business tycoon and the teacher is just a professor of business. Think I'd drop that class and listen to Mellon instead.
The professor was jealous of Thorton's success, and didn't like being corrected by him and made to look bad.
There is a scene in which Mellon lectures the professor as the class takes notes about what *he* is saying.
@@AnnusMirabilus, yes, it's a funny scene, the whole classroom scene. The other students also realize that the millionaire tycoon knows even more about business than the professor, even if not all of Thorton's business practices are conventional, such as bribes and "greasing the polititions". Those tycoons still become rich and successful.
Thorton sure didn't need to be enrolled in college when he's already so successful, he's only doing it to aid and help his son.
Melon sure doesn't need to be in college when he's already a rich successful businessman. But I do know that he's only there to help his son.
I had business professors in college who were business professors because in the real world they failed spectacularly at business. The same was true with project management.

Nixon ended the convertibility of the US dollar into gold in international transactions, thus killing the Bretton Woods Agreement and putting the final nail in the coffin of the gold standard.
I'm not an expert, but I think all three played a role in taking us off the gold standard. FDR started the process, Nixon finished it, and LBJ was probably the most responsible.
