Alicia Bridges - I Love The Nightlife (1978)

- Disco diva Alicia Bridges scored big in 1978 with her chart-topping hit "I Love the Nightlife." It was her biggest moment in music, making her self-titled debut a definite part of the feel-good disco scene of the late '70s. The blues-tinged "Diamond in the Rough" and "Broken Woman" were mildly successful, but Bridges never regained her disco reign. Two more albums followed -- 1979's Play It as It Lays and 1984's Hocus Pocus -- but those failed to gain recognition despite some disco threads transitioning into the new wave scene of the early '80s. Bridges wasn't entirely forgotten. Nearly 20 years later, electronic dance gurus "Little" Louie Vega and Kenny "Dope" Gonzalez of the house act Masters at Work revamped "I Love the Nightlife for the campy flick The Last Days of Disco. ~ MacKenzie Wilson, All Music Guide

She was lip-syncing, so... not all that exciting
Here I am again, this song really made me dance. Even though I'm now 60,who cares. I dance round my house to this all the time ❤❤❤❤❤ loved your song girl. Love from the Republic of Ireland 😊❤❤❤

Ak- shawn....
This is killing me. I want to go back to the 1970s. I maybe 63 years old, but I can still boogie.
Me too. Same age. And I certainly wouldn't just sit there while she performs.
I can't stand it when an audience just sits still when they should be into the music!!! I even had a person sitting still next to me @ a show complaining about the vibration caused by my feet hitting the (carpeted) floor to the music! I am told that people want to watch the performance and not be distracted by dancing or moving to the beat. Whatever!! I would have been out of my seat jamming to Alicia!! 😸
I keep telling my kids...our generation was the coolest.
I still got it too, soon to be 62 in December '21.
i hear you!!
Damn. That audience needs more Ack-shown!
keep in mind they were probably just watching her lip sync for the 10th take or something.
@@therealxunil2 Alicia miming is too much Ack-shon for those limp dicks.
@Rev Helper I agree that the 70s were far more polite than now - I remember them well as Maurice Chevalier used to say!
Jonathan Washington , you ain’t wrong!
They're Germans what did you expect?
I love how the audience are sitting there uninterested and Alicia doesn't give two hoots, she's going for it anyway!❤️
Luudes man, luudes. It was the 70s after all
Most live TV shows have always had cue cards for audiences as well as pre recorded performances.
The audience is mesmerized

WELCOME TOO MY WORLD 🌍 I LISTEN TOO THIS FULL BLAST EVERY NIGHT, AND SO DO MY NEIGHBORS!!
OMG, the audience is priceless...just sitting there while she's discoing her heart out...gotta love the 70's
I agree--they look comatose. I'm old enough to have been in college in the late seventies...fun, fun time.
Looks like she's singing in front of a bunch of statues.
I'd be up there, ripping up the floor boards!

The only thing that goes out at night on a boomer is their hip....Justin Bieber.
I'm old enough to remember her music in the clubs. We were so blessed to have this kind of music then in the 70's especially the late 70's. Disco made the nightclubs come alive. What I wouldn't do to go back then in my early 20's and
enjoy it all over again.
How I wish they would play disco at the clubs again and make it a theme night.
I gotta say, I play the bass guitar, and damnit if Disco basslines ain’t some of the most goddamn funkiest pieces of finely crafted music ever!
Definitely!!! So many memories !
My dad and I restored the interior of an old barn on his property put in some light up floors a legit retro disco ball ect. His town has a population of about 1200 middle of no where he throws parties at his “love shack”. I didn’t really get to experience the era but I atleast got to recreate it for my high school parties lol
And don't forget that in 1978 it was legal in most states for 18 year olds to drink alcohol. We had a lot more fun than kids today, and we weren't as hung up or suffered from being so easily triggered like todays teenagers and twenty somethings.
This is one of the great songs of the disco era.
This is timeless, she doesn't need any backup singers she kills it the audience's weak they are in awe of what they're listening to and watching it's so obvious
It is one of the great songs of ANY era! Fantastic!
This is why the 70s RULE
Definitely
Jesus, if the audience gets anymore livelier, a funeral might break out.

I remember way back in my 5th grade that this song would always play in my Dad's car whenever he would pick me up from school or bring me to school. I love my Dad so much and appreciate the influence he has upon me especially when it comes to my extensive, good taste in music. I'm 24 years old now, my Dad had a stroke last 2009 but at least the left side of his body still functions well. My dad cooks, loves to sing, and makes great conversation. I'm smiling as I'm writing this because everytime we listen to good music like this, we would always be happy. Life's beauty can really be seen through the simplest of things... I thank God everyday for these wonderful blessings and the awesome memories that we share..

A great song souvenir of my childhood, I was 10 years old in 1978.
I learned my schoolwork in the evening by locking myself in the big dining room of the family home in the beautiful south of France. And with music, because it always helped me to learn with background music. ^^ The house's Hi-Fi system was installed in the dining room. On the FM radio, on a 33 rpm record or cassettes, I played a lot of songs, and I remember this one very well! A happy and wonderful childhood! :-)
A distant past now but still so close in my mind. My father left us 4 years ago and my mother almost 3 years ago. Time passes so quickly that we don't have time to really enjoy it... 😞

It's been many years since I first heard it, and it just now came to my mind, so I played the video. And I've never seen Alicia, before. She is now seventy years old. Great song.
those people in the audience had no idea they were watching history in the making!
Fantastic year of 1978!!!I was just a kid then but the 70s was just as awesome...
What made this song so great was the Sax solo by Jay Carrington Scott from a little town called Dothan, Alabama. He was the most talented sax player of all time. He was a "studio musician" when this was recorded. He has gone on to play in the big band in Heaven, but would like to see him remembered. So many musicians never get recognized for their part of truly making a song memorable. Play on Jay!
Reminiscing from South Africa 🇿🇦 Still one of my favorites!

Absolutely love this classic! Makes me smile 😃
I have seen the name of this song spelled differently everytime. Is it "DISCO ROUND" or "DISCO 'ROUND"? I have seen the apostrophe in front of the word 'Round. This matters to me because usually an apostrophe means the word is different, which means the name of the song can mean something else. In the Vinyl album, I have always seen Disco Round without an apostrophe and in the Vinyl as a single it shows Disco 'Round with an apostrophe. What does Disco Round mean and what does Disco 'Round with an apostrophe mean? Thanks.
@@xxMCUmilexx I take it to mean all the discos in town, which one might visit in a single night, a bit like doing a pub crawl.
