Indeed. I miss Irene Cara. I hope that the family and friends of Ms. Cara have solace in knowing how much Ms. Cara touched harts and souls. Glen Hillebrand

If you think the 80s were great, and they were, you should have been there in the 50s & 60s. For decades we were so blessed with great music - sadly, not so much today.
RIP Irene Cara (March 18, 1959 - November 25, 2022), age 63
You will be remembered as a legend.

LOL... they do look pathetic don't they?
If you haven't lived through the 80s then you can't say one way or the other if it was better than or now. A lot of people want to have an opinion over something they know nothing about

She had such charisma. Could act and sing. First saw her in Roots in 1979 and she was so radiant to me. How she never became a major star will always be a mystery to me.
Not much of a mystery. Unfortunately she suffered like many other hollywood stars. The industry is a dark world to be in.
This is an outstanding performance by Irene. Unfortunately we lost this wonderful talent far too young

Well, no, but in the film there was a profanity reference to s**. It happened when actress Jennifer Beals was sitting across the table from some guy. Only saying. Marvelous, uplifting song -- but the movie did contain adult content, at least with that reference to s**.

The 80's was the ending of the Golden age for music. The good old days, music was truly universal during those times. Both Flashdance and Fame either became a movie adaptation or a Television show.

'take your passion, and make it happen' that's one of the most memorable lines from a long list of 80s kuts
"What a Feeling" is more than just a song; it's an emotional journey that lifts the spirit and ignites determination with every note. From the opening chords, it transports you to a place of hope and optimism, where dreams are within reach and goals are attainable. Irene Cara's powerful and emotive voice guides the journey, conveying a message of empowerment and perseverance. Each word resonates with tangible passion, reminding you that you are capable of overcoming any obstacle and achieving your boldest dreams. The melody envelops you like a warm embrace, infusing strength and courage into your heart as you immerse yourself in its unforgettable tune. In summary, "What a Feeling" is a song that makes you believe in yourself, inspires you to pursue your dreams, and reminds you that within you lies limitless potential to achieve the impossible!!!!
I hope history remembers her as one of the greatest voices of all times. She deserved a much bigger career than she had. Her voice is my favorite, she was so beautiful
Yeah, her talent far outweighed anything Mariah Carey or Kelly Clarkson ever did. Shows what corporate connections do for you in the music world, smh.

Wow, first Olivia, now Irene, smh. Both artists pulled me through rough times as a teenager and I'll never forget them for it! They just don't make vocalists like them anymore, incredible talent. Rest In Peace and thank you both for all the sweet memories 😢.
So true, when I was a teenager, I grew up with their music, I loved their music so much ❤️
It has been a very sad year with the passing of some of the most beautiful female vocalists. Olivia Newton John, Irene Cara, and just slightly more recently the passing of Christine McVie of Fleetwood Mac. Music is very personal for the listener as much as it is to the messenger. I thank them all for sharing their voices with the world, and conjuring my own emotions through the power of song. Such a feat, to be able to positively impact people in that way. They are worth so much more than the record deals. RIP.

Ladies and gentlemen, give it up for all talent with no autotune
Well, it's the studio recording (lip sync), but we know what you mean.
@@Larryjo44 U sure it's lip syncing?
@@davemwangi05 Yes. Just listen to the studio version and this one. This is a common practice for most if not all musical guests on shows like, American Bandstand, Soul Train, Solid Gold etc. It's a time is money thing. If she were to sing it live, and made a mistake, they would have to start over and keep doing it until it was perfect. This is all scheduled, what if she was sick that day, or had other issues with her voice? They can't reschedule because of artist schedules...etc. Much easier to let her lip sync...and the average viewer doesn't notice. One take and it's done....in the can, as they say. All the artists did it back in the day..and even today.
That's fucking live!!!

@Dan Ellis It was an amazing decade to be young in. The movies, music, TV, video games and comic books were all aimed directly at kids and teens. Every year there was so much new stuff to be amazed and excited by. Things got darker and more cynical later and entertainment started to be aimed more at adult sensibilities.
