I know this vid is a bit old now but I wanted to say thanks. I got the same unit and your video helped me setup the proper configuration and got me started right away. Now I'm testing all my batteries and labeling the test date and capacity on them so I can check them in a year or so and see how they are holding up. Again, Thank you!
Nice review and good job on deciphering the settings. The little white plug on the right puts out 3V when it goes into error, so you could trigger something electronically when it's done.
That's a cool tool! I bought one in 2021 when I built the 100-Ah LiFePO4 battery for my car. Like you, I tested capacity right away to see if I was getting the advertised spec. Thumbs up there. I do a full capacity test every November to see how much my battery has changed each year. I guess I should share my results when the time comes. 73! -Scott, KE4WMF
Thanks, I just bought this and need to test a 100Ah Lithium Iron RV battery. This device is rated at 150watts (?) but it also says 20A which is 240 watts at 12 volts so how should I set it? I want to draw 20 amps from my battery to test the Amp Hr rating. I guess I'll have to limit it to 12A in order to stay below the 150w heat sink limit. But it starts out at 13+ volts . . . Will this do a constant watt draw or is it limited to a constant amp draw?
I just watched another video about this tester and they maxed it out for an entire test. I guess reading the instructions wasn't their cup of tea. Thanks for this! I used your affiliate link to purchase.
Had one of these for a few years, and haven't used in a while. Bought to load test a 12v power supply(matching supply to a Kris CB radio that's also on the project list) that's been on the project list for a long time.
So i picked up this device and it works. So after 15 minutes at 2.0 amp draw on a 24ah battery it shows .77ah does this mean .77x4 AH used = 3.08, what does this mean overall? I am trying to find out if my battery is as good as rated. Do I let this run until I deplete the battery to get the total AH of the battery?
That just means you pulled .77ah out of your battery. That seems weird though. With a 1 amp current draw in 1 hour you should see 1ah has been depleted. A 2 amp current drain in 1 hour should show 2ah depleted. 15 minutes at 2 amps should be .5ah. Did you hold the button down for a few seconds to clear out the screen before you started the test? I wonder if you may have had some data there if you were playing around with it before the test that didn't get reset??
Best explanation I have seen and thank you for doing so. As a rc enthusiast and dealing with 6s 6000mah lipos I do wish there was something like this that can balance discharge while monitoring each cell. I bought this unit on Aliexpress and will use it.
Have some of items in your affiliate links in my cart. I would like to know if there’s wiring for 12v 100ah to this tester that can also be purchased on Amazon? I’m a bit dunce so any feedback is greatly appreciated.
Anyone know how to hard reset this back to factory specs Mine was working, now can’t get it to adjust down, only counts up. Almost a wonderful thing, not a fan of the one control button.
nice review. I got one with black fan. different brand. but very close to that. same crazy menu. it does get quite warm at near full power. you can do USB C PD testing with a trigger cable. but limit on trigger cable . 73's
So Mike, what did the POWERDRIVE 20ah battery actually supply in Ah? I have something similar and got 6ah out if it. Those chinese manufactures just slap on any label they want.

Very cool. Will Prowse also does a walk through of this device.

Thank you the video was helpful. I could not make heads or tails from the written directions.

Awesome, thanks so much. Glad you found this helpful.

I wonder If you'd be able to supply 20v/5A to that USB-C port using one of those trigger boards.
Now I gotta build a Anderson Powerpole short cable to put on the tester so I can connect batteries to it!
No, you GET to build another Powerpole cable. Just like I did 🤣
Thanks for the tutorial. I’ve tried reading the instructions a dozen times and could never grasp what it was trying to state.
Thanks for this really good video. Can we test multiple individual cells at once?
Battery tester space heater combo. Kewl. But holy complicated instructions Batman! Thanks for the demo.
Mike that's a great tool. Very useful in testing both new and old batteries. Good price as well !

welcome home Mike. Ill reset it and try again.@@hamradiotube

Are these instructions online in pdf ?
found it; now what size is the jack for the power supply input ?
RIP DenCo prototype batt. We can rebuild him... better, stronger, faster.
What are the specs for testing a 12v 100ah sealed lead acid battery?

Awesome video. Thanks for sharing mate👍 new sub indeed
That does seem like a great tool to have!
Any one how to meaussure phone capacity ? Will this tester work or usb loader?
This thing looks cool. Never really had a way to test batteries except to see if it would last all night. Lets see if I can smoke it haha.
Fingers crossed!

I haven't fully tested that yet but i've had it for a couple years and have charged many things off of it. I would guess I get what it's rated for.
Very intuitive,🎉
Nice reviews.thanks
Link doesn’t work
wish this had an Andersonpowerpole interface, another cable to make up 😮
Another cable you GET to make up 🤣
@@hamradiotube true, with enough practice I’ll actually be able to do that right the first time 😀
Need to get a case 3d printed for it 73
STOP finding more shit for me to buy! I don't need it . . . so, yes, I bought it! Can I send you the bill?
I will not!!
At least he didn't say no to letting you send him the bill. Of course getting Mike to pay it is a whole other thing.
