@@crucisnh Because it decreases the amount of car drivers and that causes less traffic, the amount of money that has to be spent on roads and maintenance decreases. People also pay for roads they don't use.
Even I'd balk at that amount. Granted, currently I could afford to pay, but I'd not have much left over. Who wants to pay over 100 bucks to ride the bus or train for JUST 1 MONTH? That's over $1200 a year! ON PUBLIC TRANSPORT Here in the U.S., I honestly can't think of a single public transit system that costs THAT MUCH. How the fuck is it so expensive IN EUROPE, of all places???? Are they trying to "make up" for revenue shortfalls or something?
Well, ok Maybe Amtrak costs that much, but those are long rides. I'm talking about quick bus or subway rides taht take, at most, maybe half an hour or an hour and don't go very far.
Because public transport in Europe is of much higher quality compared to the US, so it also costs more money. I'm sorry that we don't have magic dust that can make high quality trains and busses for free.
It's really a chicken-or-egg situation w/ freeloaders. DOES the free-riding "cause" the government to raise prices or give them "reason" to? Or do they freeload BECAUSE they simply can't afford already-high prices? How do we know for sure? I mean, yeah... they do cost the system a lot of money, but who's to say that they WOULDN'T also pay if prices were a lot lower? I think at least a relative handful WOULD if they could afford it.
If they all think public transport should be free I hope they're willing to pay more in taxes because if the money to maintain the infrastructure isn't coming from fares then it should be coming from somewhere.
You think Évry - Paris for €113 per month is expensive?! Come to the UK!! Equivalent journey Warrington - Manchester is £152 (~€180) per month. Now that is a rip off.
That’s what’s wrong with the world 🌎 in general “People always want something for nothing” . The world 🌎 doesn’t work that way. If you do a job you expect to be paid for it right. Then pay your dues
Just load your pass on the phone. In the US colleges provide free pases to those who can't afford it. Why can't SNCF and RATP donate passes to the lees fortunate or those who forgot it.
Last time I went to France we stayed on the south coast in a small coastal village around 45 mins from Nice. We took a total of 27 train journeys in 2 weeks and didn’t pay a penny. Not once did I have any conductor ask me where my ticket was and I only saw a conductor once so I went and hid in the toilet till he left. This was around 8 years ago so I don’t know if it’s changed since
If young people's income is so low they can't afford public transport fares, then there is something very wrong with France...
Is it that they don't have enough money or that they want to spent their money on other things?
Its more expensive in the uk
@@Thegoldenemerald third most expensive is Tokyo..
France is so cheap, soldiers got to buy their equipment. BS
Lmao we do the same thing here in new york
Completely paid for by Tax Payers, and how much tax is this guy paying? Free loader.
He pays VAT like everyone else. Where is the money going for?
Politician are the greatest freeloaders on earth.
For the person who says that public transport should be free; I hope he is willing to pay more in taxes because that's where it will come from.
And why should those who never ride a subway have to subsidize those that do? Those that do SHOULD have to pay a share of the burden!!!

113 euros ?????? In Quebec it’s only 51 dollars

Come to nyc where the prices rise every few years.
Dear France, I love you so much
Riding without paying for them is civil disobediance.
For me riding the subway without paying simply means in don't feel like paying.
*what a genius, just do a skippy doo hop!*

Monthly pass is 75 Euros per month, from zone one Central Paris to zone 5.
Compared to Central London to Epping(Zone 1 to 6 Travelcard) which costs £246.60.
In Germany we don't even have turnstiles, that's great! I hate these things!^^ But at least in Berlin you get checked quite often in the metro :).

Actually it is 70€ per month, but news...

Why does the paris metro have various types of fare gates, with a mixture of both manual turnstiles, and automatic gates?
Because:Lol.
Want to come look at SF while you’re at it? It’s so normal to see people hop the barriers
DC too. If the trip over the gate and injure themselves I won't help them.
Absurd prices !!
Put the ticket inspectors infront of the barriers! Lmao

Is a rip-off here in Colorado too is like 3 bucks for one way and 6 day pass for local and like 11 for airport transit is pretty dump
here in london we do this shit everyday nothing to brag about
If it was free how would it get paid for!
Fare-dodging is not going out of style.
Its all fun and games until there is more money for transportation.
Here in America is waaaay cheaper but people still don't wanna pay their fare... What a bunch of lowlife
Especially NYC is a whole another story
You pay so much for public transport because it costs money to maintain said transport. I hope all three do time, in jail.
That’s very based
Be careful of karma.
