My car has Visconti e50 tune and it is fantastic. Re: the recall and future tuning, Marshall confirmed everything you said. However, he also said they can perform the unlock and tune remotely, eliminating the need to remove the ecu, for a slightly higher fee.
so, in the end i will have to do the update, because of a oil pump probleme... so you say that unlocking a updated ECU is EASYER than unlock a factory lock 2022+ ecu? hope it's the case cuz i'm not sending the ecu anywhere ... i'm lost, if i cannot tune my car i prefer seling it, no point having a untunable supra :(
Good video, I must of missed it. But how do you know if your 2020 GR Supra ECU is locked after getting all those recalls done. Is it because once you get any software updates in your 2020 Supra, your ECU will automatically be locked like the 2021?
@@vinhgeta So if I take my 2020 bone stock Supra in for service (with an ECU sticker date of 4/11/19) for any of the following recalls, my ECU will become lock. And if I wish to tune my Supra, I will need to pay someone to benched unlock it if I want to tune it? 2020-2021 GR Supra recalls: 1) Brakes. Due to a problem with the engine management system. A software glitch could cause the loss of braking assist at startup, meaning drivers won't have any power assistance when depressing the brake pedal. This could make braking distances longer and increase the risk of a crash. 2) Headlights. Toyota Supra, BMW Z4, 330i Recalled For Failing. The issue? Loss of headlight functionality because of the headlamp control unit that may fail due to a process during its supplier's production. 3) Seat Belt. BMW Recalls (7) 2020 Toyota Supra for Seat Belt-Related Malfunction. Due to Improper Welds. The recall involves a problem where the seat belt guides may not be properly welded to the car’s frame, which represents a major safety issue. Also, yes, BMW is recalling a Toyota. 4) Camera. Safety recalls towards several BMW models for their faulty backup cameras. Owners were able to glitch the cameras into not working when backing up. A software patch fixed the issue. The Supra was listed in the recall. 5) Navigation System needs software update.
Other then removing things to check the ecu date I hear it's on the driver door as well. My 21 don't have a date. Unless im looking at it wrong. Just found your channel. Subbed.
Thanks for the sub Jenn! The date on the door jam is the manufacturer date of the car. You actually have to pull off the ECU to get the manufacture date of the ECU itself
But my friend that’s not true about the ECUs from June 2020, it’s cracked. Actually that a crap talk about the 2020 owners. Forget, lock is gone, and the 2021 are superior cars

You’re right! I forgot to mention that. So awesome that they offer that service
CarPlay in itself is a huge W💯

So for the ones already locked from the factory brand new, can those be bench unlocked?
Unfortunately the newer models cannot be bench unlocked. You’d have to find a tuneable ECU to clone your ECu

Can’t say for sure about ANY software updates but the recall specifically will lock it however it can be bench unlocked to be able to tune again.

Did the burbles and crackles and pops get less after the recall?

@@vinhgeta yeah I just found out & cody drives just told me the same thing. Dang. I'll definitely pop it out later. And no problem Vinh!
Wait what if u changed ur oil at Toyota? Do they lock the ecu? Got 2021
I don’t think they would do any firmware updates during an oil change unless you didn’t do the recall they might hold your Supra hostage.
Does your A90 supra have a wireless connectivity for Apple Carplay?
Yup. I have wireless CarPlay!
if my car never had to be bench unlocked the 1st time, will it have to be after the recall?
Yes. This was the case with mine too. I will be sending it in this weekend to be bench unlocked and will post an update video!
Bro ơi mình có chiếc 2020 mua từ tháng 2! Mà giờ muốn đi thay nhớt máy thì có sao ko bro!
