The later Supra got the variant out of the M240i, M340i, M440i, X3/4 M40i and Z4 M40i. A 375 HP variant is also used in the X7.
First time watching your video, well put together! My 2021 a91 Supra will get here on Sunday. This video broke down everything I needed to know! 🙏🏼 This will be my first ever sports car !
I owned a '21 Supra 3.0 Premium for three years and had zero problems besides occasionally hitting my head getting in and out. Was not a fan of BMW before owning it, but the car changed my mind about them. Traded the Supra in for a new M4 Competition last month and am even happier with that than the Supra. It was a great car to own and you're getting a lot for your money without the BMW upcharge. Go price a Z4 with the same exact features/options and you'll see.
Encouraging stuff, and hope it's still great two years later! I remember following the development of this car daily from the moment the FT-1 concept came out and the original Supramkv forum started. I was blessed to own a MKIV back then. I still haven't pulled the trigger on this one yet between various life changes since the pandemic, and actually went all-in-one practical on the Korean side with a Kona N (I'm up in Canada and have to deal with Alberta winters), but I've been getting the itch lately, and think I'll be taking more active steps to getting one at some point (my deadline will be if they announce a last year for it). I really appreciate you guys sharing your real world experiences!
You guys are spot-on about so many of these points, both good and bad. Picked up a CPO '21 Nitro Yellow 3.0 Premium with only 3k miles for significantly under MSRP back in October. These can be gotten for reasonable prices! One quick question: I've been looking for some kind of organizer for the rear hatch. That one you are using at 12:49 looks perfect. What is that?
Have a question- at 3.00 you say 'I couldnt tune mine because its locked'- how do you mean? Does the 2022 Supra genuinely not allow you access to the port, are there ways around it? Think I might take a tuneable lower power over a locked higher power- maybe I misunderstood. Great breakdown video thanks!
@stepz1876 I've been trying to research this as well, all I've found so far is that you have to ship your ECU out to a company to get unlocked then you can tune. Which adds a hefty price
I only had two issues with the Supra when I drove one. Wind buffeting (fixable as they said) and the total lack of feedback through the steering wheel. Felt like playing a video game. Most cars are like that nowadays unfortunately. :( Everything else about the car was great.
After watching this video, I’m glad I started with a halo GR 86 premium. After getting super comfortable with the 86, I might upgrade to the Supra. Love both.
Is the Supra actually faster than an F80? I’m pushing close to 480hp stock. If true, I may be getting a Supra! Great vid. Thanks for mentioning the cost of insurance.
I have a wind buffering question. Have you both compared the 2 cars for the wind noise since you both used different products? Do they both work the exact same or does one work better than the other?? Thank you so much.
@@vinhgeta it's awesome bro thanks - still only got 550 miles on it, got it factory new, it was almost too notchy at first lol, but it's loosening up as it runs in and it is a dream come true. The downshift is something to die for...
I changed the horn to a set of dual Tundra horns. (High and low note…). Sounds appropriate now. The majority of the rattles were cured by removing the door cards and using some soft side of Velcro. Great car.
Hey mate. Love your supra! Such a sick build! I was wondering if you could share some insights on the difference between the B58B30C (335hp) vs B58B30B (382hp) in terms of its reliability and mod-friendliness as the latter has 6ports vs 2ports on the cylinder head. Key differences on the cylinder head, manifold, piston and turbo iirc
Great review guys! People usually get mad when called BMW Supra because they just can't accept that. Nothing wrong with a BMW, one of the best handling cars ever. But, a BMW Camry, that's hilarious.
Great video, im glad I found your channel! Im actually debating on getting the 2023 8 speed auto Supra. Do you think its a good idea? (the purchase). It would be my first ever off the dealership car. I know people would opt for the 6MT, but I feel like driving stick would be a hassle daily in traffic and whatnot.
I was hesitant at first because I love Toyota engineering, and I’m lukewarm on German cars. However, my 2023 GR Supra changed that because the performance speaks for itself. When people try to sh!t-talk me because “It’s basically a BMW M4”, I simply reply with a smile and “I’m okay with that”.
I always watch your videos, and you are absolutely right; I just sold my 2016 Bmw F80 m3 and Guess what? 3 weeks later i purchased at 2023 red Gr Supra and i love it. well I just got less than 500 miles on it and i already installed the TJ trunk spoiler and some wheels spacer. Lol 😁🔥
That’s a hard question. I’ve owned manual cars all my life and the Supra is actually the first auto. I do not regret it at all! I wouldn’t trade for a manual. Can’t go wrong with either!
@@vinhgeta It is. I've been driving my WRX all throughout NYC traffic and hr long commutes, and I really don't mind it, it's kinda fun actually. But between that and save the manuals, I can see the manual retaining far more value 10 years later. Maybe I might just have to test drive one first haha
Haters are here and they won’t go away lol 😂!! LOSERS. Love your video brother, those b58 engines are no joke and there so easy and cost effective to upgrade. You could easily bump up your engine to 600hp safely with just bolts on and tuned. Nice setup on those supra 👍👍
I had mixed feelings about the GR Supra from the start. Probably because of the partnership with BMW vs doing a complete in-house option like Nissan. I guess the first place to start is how most of the power train and essential components are akin to the Z4. While not bad, the m4 or m235 could have been a more solid place to begin. There's also the issue of engine reliability. It's all fun and games until we are the victim of the "Hello, friend" meme, and I genuinely haven't seen a reliable BMW engine since the e30 4 cylinder. Heck the Lotus Evora/Exige supercharged 6 (which is off of a Camry btw) with a BMW sourced transmission could have been a cheaper and more reliable choice. The second thing I nitpick is the design. It feels similar to the Lexus "predator" aesthetic in the shape of a Z4 coupe. If it paid homage to mkiv in the way the 2005 mustang to the 1965, I would have a softer heart. Let me know what you think.
@@smog-097 true, but it would be nice if it looked less like a Lexus. Sort of like how you can tell a Chevy from a Cadillac. I think that's what I was thinking of.

I think the B58 is going to turn out to be one of those legendary engines in the future. I currently have a M340i and a X3 M40i and soon to replace the M40i with an X3M. Have fun with those my dudes! Also love how you guys embrace the BMW-ness of it all. LOL
Note: The earlier Supra had the B58 variant out of the base X5 s/xdrive 40i and the 540i.
Great job on the video! I want a supra, but time will tell. Currently still modding my sti and have a blast with it.
Thank you bro! The STI is 🔥🔥
I owned a '21 Supra 3.0 Premium for three years and had zero problems besides occasionally hitting my head getting in and out.
Best review video I've watched so far on this car. Simple and honest! Hoping I can get one myself one day.
Thank Alex!
New to this channel, and you guy’s laughs just have me cracking lol
keep up the good work!!
Haha thank you!
I want one of those cars one day. Both of you have some awesome Supras can’t wait til I get mine.
Thank you!
Congrats on the success of this video man, it’s a great video, really well done
Thanks Jordan!! 🎉
6’1 and 220 here. I get in out of my Daily Viper daily, just part of owning this kind of ride. I am very very excited to grab one.
Did you find anything?
@stepz1876 I've been trying to research this as well, all I've found so far is that you have to ship your ECU out to a company to get unlocked then you can tune. Which adds a hefty price
Great tips guys especially for the buffeting. Ordering one of these this year thanks!
Love the quality 😍
Thank you bro! Spicing it up a bit!
du
2:15 This is because Toyota engineers took the motor and ran it through their reliability test. Lets just say Toyota made BMW redesign lots of parts.
Love both.
one day ill get one, for now i just gotta stick to the saving grind
Keep grinding bro!
3:00 what does he mean by it being locked..? Never heard of tht before on the mk5
What lip kit and wheel setup does the yellow Supra have? Love the video I’m a Supra owner as well. Keep it up
We’re both running the Maxton Design v2 lip. The yellow Supra is running Titan TS5 wheels I believe
@@vinhgeta yesssir. He knows my car as well as I do. :)
Love the content! Just discovered your channel a couple months ago when I picked up my 22 Supra. Didn’t realize you used to live in Chicago!
Welcome to the channel! Yup moved out to Seattle about 5 years ago
Is the Supra actually faster than an F80? I’m pushing close to 480hp stock. If true, I may be getting a Supra! Great vid. Thanks for mentioning the cost of insurance.
I don't think it is. Mod for mod the s55 makes more hp. But maybe it is due to weight.
Thanks for this info, even though I am a teen rn, I want to save my money up in the future for a supra. Thanks a lot!
I have a wind buffering question. Have you both compared the 2 cars for the wind noise since you both used different products? Do they both work the exact same or does one work better than the other?? Thank you so much.
Both products work really well. One just looks a lot better than the other 😂
@@vinhgeta thanks bud. I appreciate the quick response.
the wheels on the yellow one are fire!!
I got a Camry, and my horn sounds better. Hahaha
LOL im dead 😂😂
Hhaahahahahhahah…
How often do ppl use horns though, i use my high beams more.
@@alexl.102 Man, I use my horn almost every day.
Damn dawg, you've inspired me to get a supra. Currently on the hunt for a white/black b58 premium.
ended up getting a 23 gr m/t supra
Nice video :) I'm lovin my '23 MT, but kinda wish I got the black but they only had Nitro Yellow, and yez, the bugs are garrrbage.
How do you like the manual transmission?
@@vinhgeta it's awesome bro thanks - still only got 550 miles on it, got it factory new, it was almost too notchy at first lol, but it's loosening up as it runs in and it is a dream come true. The downshift is something to die for...
@@_J4CK4L_ I really want to test drive one!
I changed the horn to a set of dual Tundra horns. (High and low note…). Sounds appropriate now. The majority of the rattles were cured by removing the door cards and using some soft side of Velcro. Great car.
Man, I’m super jealous. The supra looks so good in black. Hope you guys are enjoying it!!
Dope jackets! Where’d you guys get them?
Not sure where Jimmy got his from but I got mine from Kith!
Sweet rides, bros! This is a likely contender for my next, now that a 6spd is available.
Also interested on this info 😅
Great review guys! People usually get mad when called BMW Supra because they just can't accept that. Nothing wrong with a BMW, one of the best handling cars ever. But, a BMW Camry, that's hilarious.
Great video, im glad I found your channel! Im actually debating on getting the 2023 8 speed auto Supra. Do you think its a good idea? (the purchase). It would be my first ever off the dealership car. I know people would opt for the 6MT, but I feel like driving stick would be a hassle daily in traffic and whatnot.
If it’s a daily commuter for you, I’d go with the auto. When you put it in manual mode it’s still so much fun! You can’t go wrong with either one!
I mean, it wouldn’t be any more of a hassle than any other manual. Really just personal preference.
I’m debating between the gr86 and the Supra 2.0. Any thoughts on the 2.0?
Supra bro
look at Cooper S mods, B48 extremely capable also
I always watch your videos, and you are absolutely right; I just sold my 2016 Bmw F80 m3 and Guess what? 3 weeks later i purchased at 2023 red Gr Supra and i love it. well I just got less than 500 miles on it and i already installed the TJ trunk spoiler and some wheels spacer. Lol 😁🔥
Lol no way!! That’s a big different going from a sedan to a 2 seat coupe! How do you like it? Congrats!
@@vinhgeta I love it, but I still have my 2015 bmw f30 335i which is my Daily. I only drive the Supra on the weekends. Lol👍🏻😁
Would you pickup a manual over the auto today?
That’s a hard question. I’ve owned manual cars all my life and the Supra is actually the first auto. I do not regret it at all! I wouldn’t trade for a manual. Can’t go wrong with either!
@@vinhgeta It is. I've been driving my WRX all throughout NYC traffic and hr long commutes, and I really don't mind it, it's kinda fun actually. But between that and save the manuals, I can see the manual retaining far more value 10 years later. Maybe I might just have to test drive one first haha
Great content and fire cars. I’m more of a civic type r guy but I’m definitely considering Supra for future
I'm glad you kids finally realized how awesome BMW is. It just needed a Toyota badge but now you know! 💪💪💪
Always knew how awesome BMW is 😉
It literally has a Toyota badge. In your logic we might just say that the "McLaren F1 needs McLaren badge" since that has the BMW V12.
Clean video. Nothing bad to say at all. My favorite part was the B-Roll footage.
had the supra but after a year i upgraded to a M3 comp, the oil consumption was a nightmare but other than that no issues.
“Upgraded” 💀
@@foreversolvent5334 yeah upgrade, better engine , and interior. So don’t know why you would something in quotations that is obviously a fact
@A91dan What was the oil consumption issue? Thinking of changing my e90 M3 to the Supra.
@@MumenRider78 on the 2021’s they burned a ridiculous amount of gas. I was adding a quart literallyever 2-3 months. The issue was fixed tho
the aesthetic look of the yellow supra is beautiful
What did he say about his supra not being able to be modded
ECU is locked for certain year on MKV Supra that u gotta send it elsewhere to clone.
@@f80_dann bro do you never sleep lol
LOL
@@jimmygimbal damn haha
@@f80_dann What you talking about? I am trying to get a Supra, can you explain more about that?
Great review! I love these cars and if I can swing it, I'll be getting the 2024 model. Probably not in black! Lol
Haters are here and they won’t go away lol 😂!! LOSERS. Love your video brother, those b58 engines are no joke and there so easy and cost effective to upgrade. You could easily bump up your engine to 600hp safely with just bolts on and tuned. Nice setup on those supra 👍👍
thank you bro! I appreciate the positivity! I'm going to just keep enjoying my car :)
@@vinhgeta indeed 🤜
Nothing to worry about. When the warranty go's out, I will drill my own holes for real vents.
I like old model supra then newer supra. Too much stuff under the hood. Supra is Supra.
Love the older Supras too!
6’3 and 220 i fit well in my Supra. Love that I can adjust the bolstering all depending on how many tacos I’ve had.
LOL tacos 😂 that’s awesome man!
I think that the MKIV looks nothing like the MK1, 2 or 3. People expecting the V to look like a car designed 25 years prior ... are not thinking.
@@smog-097 true, but it would be nice if it looked less like a Lexus. Sort of like how you can tell a Chevy from a Cadillac. I think that's what I was thinking of.
@@jared5437"looked less like a Lexus"
Literally the MK4 A80 Supra came from the Lexus SC 400/300 Coupe (and the 300 has the 2JZ. Long before the existince of the Supra A80 MK4). Go figure
Keep in mind that BMW is the exact company that let McLaren (British) use their V12 engines in their McLaren F1.
Love the videos man. From Chicago and planning on getting the new Supra, maybe next year!
B58 = 3JZ
Lol brooo you’re going to us in trouble
@@vinhgeta Hell with the others.....they fail to realize that the JZ engines didn't start in the Supra. It started in the Toyota Artisto (2JZ).

Much insightful
10:18 Don't they have jbl speakers as an option?
Awesome! I was just thinking about trading my S4 in for a Supra, or an M2... just have not decided yet until I came across this channel. I live in the Bellevue area as well, so it's always supra cool to see some TH-camrs from my area. Right on, great video guys. @ 4:17 looks like the Sammamish area. :)
Okay about the sound system. Yes, it's not as good as other cars, but you absolutely have to go into the settings and tune it. It actually has a really good tuner for a stock radio with, I think, 9 different channels. Once you do that it actually becomes great
Great video, thank you! Looking forward to buying my supra soon
"The haters are only on the internet"

Congrats the Supra!
