- Prior to the pandemic - I was only using my home office here and there. Now with a country wide lockdown, I have been forced to work from home. My home office setup was less than ideal so over the past few months I decided to transform this work from home office with floating shelves, a Karly desk setup, and a beautiful built-in.
Being an architect, I always start with a design. I will run rough through home office design ideas then we will jump into the home office build. This includes a few Ikea hacks for an affordable built-in unit. I use off the shelf pine shelving to create floating shelves and for a desktop. Once everything is complete, we will look at the cost of setting up this home office.

Looks fantastic! I would not have thought of painting those Kallax shelving units! The floating shelves are amazing. And I'm impressed... you have LIVE plants. Most of these videos contain fake plants.

This just popped back up on my feed. I actually painted my office this color based on your video. Obviously video doesn't always do it justice and lighting is different in every room but mine is more of a green/blue dark teal color but brighter like it has gray in it. Yours almost looks like a dark emerald green. Mine also look horrible on camera. Everyone asks me if I painted my room black and I always look totally washed out. In short I love your room but I wish I had just went with an emerald green.

the dark green is reminds me of victor newman's office on Y&R---- very luxurious looking 🥰
u did a great job! Overall i think i will do a dark wall. Ones that are light just dont look good for an office nook. The dark color anchors the space.

Thank you so very much for this content. I know you took a lot of time putting it together but you were so thorough and clear. I was able to capture step by step directions easily. I'm not sure if you script this to ensure you're concise, but whatever you're doing it is working and I'm here to say thanks. One question I have is what software do you use to design the space?
Glad it was helpful. I do a bit of scripting but for the most part I just wing it and do a bunch of retakes :P Editing does a lot too lol. I used sketchup to design this and used VRAY render to make the final renderings.

It's part of my girlfriends masters thesis. It's a map of montreal printed on a piece of plywood with a whole bunch of finishing nails to connect string to. Had to do with how we experience cities around us. She will be happy someone asked about it! Thanks
