You may be one of the first reactors to catch and remember that poly juice exists and that it’s not moody. In the books Barty had taken his son out of Azkaban and was keeping him sort of like tied up at home using magic and eventually the son got free, obviously. Crouch Jr was one of the most loyal followers of Voldemort, he saw him like a dad almost or the dad he wanted. And Krums glazed eyes were meant to show he was being controlled using imperio, in the books there’s no physical sign which was part of the problem that you couldn’t prove or disprove if they were under imperio or lying

The reason why Viktor Krum didn't attacked Harry in the maze is because he was under the Imperius Curse and he was told to leave Harry alone so that he could be the one to find the cup to go to the graveyard, just like it happened. Cedric wasnt supposed to grab the cup, every time I rewatch this movie i'm always wishing that Harry left Cedric being taken by those vines, he would've survived :c

Actually, what came to my mind first and foremost was that the two should watch all of the "How to Train your Dragon" franchise.
This film is a great deal about fathers and sons:
-Mr Weasley stopping the attack in the smouldering World Cup campground by yelling "That's my son!"
-Mr Diggory in shock shrieking "That's my SON! That's my BOY!"
-Barty Crouch Sr bemoaning the break between himself and his son saying "...never again whole..."
-Voldemort using his father's bones to bring back his physical form
-James (with Lily) giving Harry cover to escape Voldemort
-even Hagrid speaking of his father
A father and son sharing the viewing of this film has to be impactful.
I couldn't help but wonder how this hits them, and also how much they would love the 'Train your Dragon' franchise.

Not quite.... In the book we never hear Malfoy say anything.
Colombus told Jason Isaacs to improvise. It so happend during filming, Isaacs was reading Goblet, so that was the first spell that came to mind. Funny in retrospec. ... Also In Chamber, Lucius "Lets hope, Mr. Potter will always be around to save the day" was an addlip by Isaacs on the spot. That bewildred look on his face when Harry said "I will be" was totally real, because he didnt think, that Daniel would respond. He once said something like "It was that moment that i knew, this boy can act"

As someone who was sorted into Hufflepuff on The Wizarding World website, Cedric Diggory's death hit hard. Especially seeing Amos run onto the quidditch pitch and hearing him shout "That's my son!! That's my boy!!"
Also, they got the movie appearance of Voldemort almost identical to the book. There is one missing detail: in the book, Voldemort is described as having blood red eyes with a slit-like pupil.
Another fact, the creature that the imposter Mad-Eye Moody was demonstrating The 3 Unforgivable Curses on was an arachnid called a whip scorpion.

  • @ericsmith8852
    @ericsmith8852 ปีที่แล้ว +13

14:45 Yes, he did say that, and there's an interesting story behind it. When Jason Isaacs was cast, the first book he read was Goblet of Fire. The script for Chamber of Secrets didn't give him a specific line, so he was allowed to improvise and he decided to go with the first part of "Avada Kedavra." There's also a theory that he wasn't directing the curse at Harry but at Dobby, since House Elves are so looked down upon, on the off-chance he might get away with it.
I always loved the moment after Moody/Crouch demonstrates the Killing Curse. In the books, Harry's only memory of the night his parents were murdered is of a green flash, and he has a sobering reaction to seeing the spell that killed his parents (and nearly him) in action. Daniel Radcliffe captured that moment perfectly.

I wouldn't normally make a big fuss about someone saying they haven't seen Doctor Who these days, but yall should seriously considering watching at least like the first four seasons together, up through all of David Tennant's run, (the actor in this movie.... he's AMAZING). I think it would create memories and a bonding experience that the both of you will remember and cherish for the rest of your life.
And I don't just say that because I really liked it - I've been following your reactions, and I really think y'all would appreciate the pure imagination and fantastical ideas that went into the show. Pretty much the entire premise is that you never know where the characters will end up or what will happen, i.e. anything is possible. It's a great family show with a lot of heart, laughter, brilliant science fiction concepts, and even some pretty spooky stuff; it's a perfect blend of genres that has a little bit of everything for everyone.

These films can be broken down into separate themes. Films 1 & 2 are an introduction into this magical world & are considered more of a children's' movie. In films 3 & 4 the characters are leaving childhood behind & embarking into adolescence. Films 5 & 6 they are coming into age and learning how to navigate aspects of the adult world. Even though technically they are still teenagers in the final two films, it is about them fully embracing who they are inside as they become young adults & have to face the harsh reality of life.
My favorites are in order - Prisoner of Azkaban, Goblet of Fire, Half Blood Prince (#1 favorite novel), & Deathly Hallows 2. Of course, Philosopher's Stone also holds a special place in my heart as it is the very first time we are introduced to the Wizarding World. There is a sense of awe & wonder as we learn about this magical realm through Harry's perspective.

Regarding the Marauder’s Map. It was created by Harry’s Dad, Lupin, Sirius, and Peter Petrigrew. When they started at Hogwarts Lupin was already a werewolf, and each full moon he had to be locked up somewhere safe so he wouldn’t hurt anyone. They put him in the shrieking shack, which is where the name came from (his howls). James, Sirius, and Peter still wanted to be with him during this period each month so they became animagus (learned how to turn into an animal). Peter became the rat, Sirius became the dog, and James Potter became a stag (the form of Harry’s patronus). Lily (Harry’s Mom’s) patronus was a doe. The names of the map refer to the four friends. Mooney (Lupin), Wormtail (Peter), Padfoot (Sirius), and Prongs (James) created the map so they could sneak out on the full moons. That’s how Lupin and Sirius knew about the map.

Don't see it mentioned in the comments and don't remember if it's explained directly in the movie. The reappearance of Cedric and Harry's parents were kind of "shadows" of them, the last people who Voldemort's wand had killed. It's been a long time since I read the books, but I think there were more people that Harry didnt recognize that Voldemort had killed, and they formed like a ring around Voldemort to hold him back and give Harry the chance to escape
The reason their wands had connected like that was because the two wands both had a core of feathers from the same phoenix

The fun adventures are over. Now the HP series becomes dark & serious & nothing is off limits.
Don’t be too hard on Ron. His insecurity is his greatest weakness. He’s the youngest of 6 boys with a baby sister. He’s very much aware he was only born because his parents were trying for a girl. His older brothers are all popular & successful. His little sister is attractive, popular & very powerful. His two best friends are Harry Potter, who’s famous for something he doesn’t even remember, & Hermione, the smartest student at Hogwarts.
Ron is tired of being known as So-n-so’s brother or the Sidekick.
Then to top it all off everything he owns is either a hand-me-down from his brothers, handmade by his mother or was purchased second hand. He started school with his oldest brother’s robes, Charlie’s old wand & Percy’s pet rat. His own mother, though she loves him, doesn’t know his personal preferences. She packs him corned beef sandwiches for lunch on the train & he doesn’t like corned beef. She always makes him maroon sweaters & he hates the color maroon. Then he has to watch as Harry, who’s wealthy, is given an Invisibility Cloak & the best racing brooms. He’s tired of always being overlooked & making do with used things. Harry’s name coming out of the Goblet was the last straw for Ron but even then he cared enough to make sure Harry knew about the dragons.
The purpose of the Yule Ball was to find out who the Champions treasures. McGonagall told her students that the Yule Ball has been a part of the Tournament since the beginning. That’s because the second task has always been to save a loved one. Someone who the champions treasured. One way to find out who each champion cares enough about to risk their own lives is to have a dance & see who they invite & socialize with. Krum bought Hermione to the dance. Cedric came with Cho Chang. Harry spent most of the evening with his best friend, Ron. Fleur’s little sister was seen with her when the students from Beauxbatons arrived at Hogwarts.
I’m enjoying your reactions to Harry Potter & I look forward to the rest of the movies.

Quick initial note (not a spoiler, since you've already watched the film):
As the Weasleys, Diggorys, and Harry enter the World Quidditch Cup campgrounds, you see a juggler juggling a large quantity of long-fringed objects. Those are meant to represent creatures known as 'grindylows'. They are squid-like water demons that attack swimmers in swarms and pull them to great depths in order to drown them.
Later in the film, grindylows attack Fleur Delacour, causing her to withdraw from the task out of fear. Then, as Harry is bringing up Ron and Fleur's little sister, the grindylows attack Harry, who then uses the same 'immobilus' spell Hermione used to stop the Cornish Pixies released by Professor Lockhart. (Grindylows are separate creatures from merpeople.)

There's a reason the minimum age for participants is 17; 17 is not just the entry age of Hogwarts's final year, but also the age at which wizards/witches become adults in the Wizarding World. At 17, each wizard/witch has full use of all the rights, privileges, and responsibilities of any adult. This includes decisions to engage in dangerous and/or life-threatening activities.
This also means that upon the moment a wizard/witch turns 17, they have the ability to decide NOT to continue their education.
Finally, from the moment an underaged wizard/witch first produces their first magical action and until the moment they turn 17, the Ministry of Magic monitors their magical activity and location; the magical mechanism is called the 'trace'. This is not just for the protection of the magical child, but also to protect the Wizarding World. Muggles have a long history of persecuting or taking advantage of wizards and witches, which is why the Wizarding World holds themselves mostly apart and secret from the muggle world.
    ____________________________________________________________________________
    Note:
Hagrid is half-giant. His mother was a full giant, but his father was a wizard of unusually-small stature. As a result, Hagrid is only about 8ft tall. Madame Maxine is also a half-giant, but a normal half-giant height of 10ft.
In the Wizarding World, racial prejudice is not just about how much muggle blood is 'polluting' the gene pool, but also the mixing of blood from other species: giants, goblins, veelas, elves, etc. The problem with giants is that they also are not very intelligent, particularly dangerous as their emotions get the better of them and they are so large and strong. For Madame Maxine, she demonstrates exceptional intelligence, but still tries to hide her heritage (she claims to be 'big-boned and the like). For Hagrid, he's a little 'simple-minded'; he doesn't keep a secret very well.
    ____________________________________________________________________________
The Imperio Curse is what Quirrell used on Harry to make him march down the stairs and join him at the Mirror of Erised; it's the controlling curse.
The Cruciatus Curse is what was used on Neville's parents until they were driven forever mad; it doesn't kill, but it inflicts terrible torture.
The Avada Kedavra Curse is what Voldemort used on Harry's parents and on him; it's the killing curse.
Wizards and witches differ in several respects, but one notable difference is health; wizards/witches are remarkably resistant to injury, heal quickly and well, and are not prone to most infections that afflict muggles. Specifically, naturally-caused injuries heal without a mark, but magic-caused injuries don't heal as well and sometimes not at all.
Harry was attacked by the killing curse; his mother's investment of love and her sacrifice of her own life gave him a protection that caused Voldemort's killing curse to rebound and destroy his physical body. Even so, Harry bears the scar from that curse.
Mad-Eye Moody is an auror who has fought many dark wizards/witches, and his body gives testament to the encounters and ravages his body has endured. He lost an eye and he lost a leg; he also bears many a scar that never heals.
In addition to spell and curse trauma, werewolf scars also don't heal. The victim may not necessarily be affected enough to 'catch' lycanthropy, but they can still bear the effects and scars will not heal.
    ____________________________________________________________________________
A lot of people make much of Rita Skeeter being a reporter or journalist; she is neither.
If you look at her print work, she is a professional gossip columnist; they don't report news, they repeat or fabricate stories.
Skeeter continues to claim Harry is only 12 (in spite of Harry correcting her that he's 14) because it makes a juicier story. And Hermione's heart is firmly focused on Ron.
    ____________________________________________________________________________

Voldemort(Tom Riddle) was born from a muggle father under a love potion of Amortentia but when he sobered up after a few years he abandoned his mother in a cruel way so this is where he gets his hatter for muggles. I’ll also tell you that this birth made him super attractive to everyone in a very supernatural way which is nobody at school could refuse him and he could weasel his way through everything to get what he wants. Everyone fell for him. Especially the teachers but also the great historian Bathilda Bagshot. His aunty or great aunt. He wasn’t easy to resist.
((I don’t know if I said this yet. I thought so at the goblet of fire but I just wanted to explain a few things))
He quite literally openly despised muggles for what his muggle father did to her beyond breaking her heart like that potion sure but Rowling went into either in the books or the rest of the story was put on the original pottermore website etc
When you see the x men movies the best character ever named Magneto(Eric) you'll see what I mean when I say he's like Salazar and honestly was loved by many. Hundreds.
Tom Riddle was an anomaly to say the least with the way in which he was born etc. it’s been a topic of discussion and entertaining deep dive videos for years now.❤️❤️❤️ there are so many great Harry Potter “lore” videos that are seriously entertaining that you’d love to do reaction videos to! Especially by people like the Carlin Brothers and a few others I will name later when I get the names again and edit them into this comment when I next get the chance! The brothers I mentioned are like the real life Weasley twins. As they are actual twins too!

Just thought I wanna share another details (a character) from the book that the movie completely erased. Barty Crouch Sr (their family) actually have a house elf called 'Winky' and she actually played some big role especially in the beginning of this book. Like for example, in the beginning at the Quidditch World Cup where the Ministry people surrounded Harry, Ron and Hermione and sorta accusing Harry of doing the Dark Mark, in the book they actually found Winky with the wand (where they checked) had conjured the mark (not that Winky's the one who did it cause if I'm not mistaken she was like stunned or sth when they found her) and because of that case, Winky was dismissed from her job as the Crouch's house elf (to which, unlike Dobby, she was kinda sad about it) but yeah there's more details to it that I can't really recall but Winky did appeared a few more times in the next books but since the movie didn't actually made her exist, she was not mentioned at all in the next few movies (basically nonexistent)

A bit of backstory to help you out…
Lupin, Sirius, Peter and harrys dad, James, were best mates when they were at hogwarts. Together they called themselves the marauders. They made the map. The cover of the map gives their ‘nicknames’; prongs, wormtail, moony and padfood.
When Lupin became a wolf, the other three learned to be anamagus, so they can change with him so he doesnt feel so alone or isolated. James became a Stag (prongs). Sirius a dog (padfoot). Peter a rat (wormtail).
They also stashed lupin in the shrieking shack on a full moon and enchanted the whomping willow to keep him in and other people out.
A persons anamagus form and full bodied protronus are the same and cannot be choosen - it comes from a persons personality, basically its your spirit animal. Which is why sirius is a dog (loyal) even though he was accused of betrayal. And peter (the real betrayer) was a rat (slang term for informer).
As the show progresses you will see other peoples ‘animals’ and you’ll think, yeah he/she is definitely suited to that animal, its definitely their personality!
You can see what your own protronus is online, same way you found out your houses - you should do it and see what your animal is.

IMPORTANT removals from the movie: Cedric used a Transfiguration spell to change a rock into a dog to distract the dragon. He was partially successful; the dragon took the bait, and Cedric went for the Golden egg. Halfway through, the dragon turned its attention back to Cedric, and burned his face. Cedric retrieved the egg, however, and passed the task.
Second was Fleur Delacour, who faced a Common Welsh Green. She enchanted the dragon to sleep, but while retrieving the golden egg, the dragon snored and let out a jet of flame that set her skirt alight. She extinguished the flames, and retrieved her egg. Viktor Krum was third, facing a Chinese Fireball. He used the Conjunctivitis Curse to blind the dragon and retrieve his egg. However, he was docked points when the dragon stumbled around and smashed half of the real eggs. Harry Potter drew the fiercest of them all, the Hungarian Horntail. On the advice of Crouch Jr. (disguised as Professor Moody), he used a Summoning Charm to bring his Firebolt broomstick to him, and manoeuvred past the dragon to retrieve his egg.
After the First Task, Harry and Viktor were tied for first place, with Cedric in second, and Fleur in third. The champions were told that, the Golden egg they retrieved contained a clue on how to pass the Second Task. Without it, they had little chance of succeeding.
I hope you watch the extended edition for the final films ahead.
(Especially the last one part one and two which has some stuff that puts some things into full circle.)

Funny how you caught what Lucius Malfoy's spell toward Harry resembled Avada Kedavra! The story of it is funny though; the actor had a blank when it came to casting the spell and just went "Awwwwrrr" without really wanting to say anything in particular! It did sound like the death curse but wasn't, just improvising! I love you both, love your quick reactions, you're quicker than I ever was watching every movie 10 times, when they came out and every year at Christmas ever since! I love seeing the younger generation enjoying the same things we grew up with. Plus seeing another adult, who didn’t watch them when they were younger but still loving it just shows what a fantastic franchise it is 😁
This film is a real turning point in the franchise, it’s the point where they have to stop being children, grow up and deal with the realities of adulthood e.g death

Yes, Lucius did say "Avada -" at Harry, but it was a mistake on Jason Isaac's part. He had asked someone on set to give him a spell he could hiss to be menacing for the scene and that was the only one they could think of on the spot (also not really knowing any themselves). Apparently he got a lot of hate mail for it, but he didn't know what he was saying.
