I think the thing that's important to remember about Ron, it's much better fleshed out in the books, is that he has 5 older brothers that are all high achieving and successful (even the troublemaker twins still get good grades and are entrepreneurs already while still at school) and his best friend is the most famous wizard of the day. So he is constantly being overshadowed and he feels left to the side a lot of the time. Back in the first movie when he looks in the mirror he sees himself as quidditch captain and head boy, he wants to be his own person and have his own wins. So when Harry, yet again, is in the spotlight, he is understandably jealous. He doesn't handle it well, but it better explains his behavior.

Victims were chosen by another people, most likely by judges, ministry of magic, and/or other officials, most likely from the pool of available people at the location. Do you really think goblet itself suddenly "spoke its wisdon" and everyone around immediately executed it? Those was circumstantial choice.

Yeah I disagree with this too. I think the judges just had to choose who to take from the pool of people already at Hogwarts, so for the students who came from other schools farther away (that didn't already have a sibling there), there would've been a smaller pool of people to choose from for this. Doesn't mean that was necessarily THE most important person in their lives.

@@SuziQ. Yes, of course, the children. The later HP books are written on a level for older kids.
I'm not surprised to learn that Stephen King likes them. There are a lot of sophisticated features in the story like the symbolism of black, white, and red in alchemy. Dumbledore's comment at the end of book 1, "It takes even more courage to stand up to your friends" is foreshadowing into the distant future of book 7 when we learned that Grindelwald was his friend. And the fact that he was gay and in love was hinted with such brilliant subtlety that no one saw it, while in retrospect it seems obvious.

He HAS made friends, Fleur and Viktor remained his friends even if they didn't interact much over the remaining books/films, but Harry knows that, stealing a phrase from Dumbledore, dark times are ahead for everyone. He made a new friend in his own school and then watched that friend die in front of him; Harry hates that he knows these people, these kids are going to have the same thing or worse happen to them.

  • @ferencercseyravasz7301
    @ferencercseyravasz7301 ปีที่แล้ว +135

I saw that you were a bit confused when Dumbledore said "Priori Incantatem".
That's basically and in ordinary conditions a spell that forces a wand to regurgitate the last spells that it performed in reverse order.
But in some rare circumstances it can happen spontaneously, such as when two wands that share the same core are forced to do battle.
The odds of that happening are slim, but when it does, the two wands will connect and try to overpower each other.
OK, but which wand will be the winner and why?
And this is where something comes into play, something that the movies gloss over: there's a lot more to magic than just waving a wand and uttering a spell. The character, intentions and courage of the owner matters a LOT.
In that graveyard Harry accepted, even welcomed the possibility of death, something Voldemort was never able to do. He fears death more than anything, this is a principal motif in the story.
And so Harry's courage won, his wand overpowered Voldemort's and made it "Priori incantatem", regurgitate the last spells. That's why Voldemort's last victims reappeared in reverse order: Cedric, the old caretaker (his name is Frank Bryce btw), and Harry's parents.
Also, remember that Voldemort has no idea that his wand and Harry's are twins, he doesn't have a clue as to what the hell just happened. He probably thinks that Harry beat him due to some special skill.
A very particular thing about Voldemort is that he only thinks in terms of power, and so his knowledge about these fine details of magic is very much superficial and incomplete.
    To quote Dumbledore (book version):
"That which Voldemort does not value, he takes no trouble to comprehend. Of house-elves and children's tales, of love, loyalty and innocence Voldemort knows and understands nothing. Nothing. That they all have a power of their own, a power beyond the reach of any magic is a truth he has never grasped"

Well said! Wands are a very serious business. Each witch or wizard should always be able to choose their own. For instance, Ron was forced to use a hand-me-down wand until he broke it in the Whomping Willow. When his parents got him his own, his magic greatly improved. Likewise, Neville's grandmother made him use his father's wand. Those wands will work for you, but it's so much better if you've got the wand that chose you specifically.

The actor that played Cedric's father can sell a scene, Jesus. The fanfare and cheering followed by the murmering and silence then his "MY BBOOYYYYYY" is heart wrenching. One of my favourite aspects, for some reason, is seeing the student's reactions to the serious things they witness and have happened. The staring in almost disbelief and shock of the students, contrasting the joy not moments before, is haunting almost. It baffles me how any student can be mean or not have empathy for Harry by this point and after. He has experienced things most students don't have the maturity to understand and face up to let alone the awareness of the stakes happening around them as they take their classes and chat to their friends and such.

The main Hogwarts is a model that is at the Warner Bros studios in Leavesden. You can see it on the tour. For the winter scenes they actually made fake snow and put it on the model. For the close ups of Hogwarts, it was various old buildings in England, castles, universities and libraries. The scenery around Hogwarts was all Scotland, including the railway, viaduct, and Hogsmeade station. It was like the actors, they wanted to film as much in the UK and also use the cream of British actors, it's like a whos who of British acting greats.

1:38 I'm not sure if anyone else has mentioned this but the opening sequences get darker and darker in each film.
38:58 Cedric, like other Hufflepuffs, has a strong moral compass. Since Harry gave him a hint about the task with the dragons, he returned the favor and gave Harry a hint about the next task. Also, in the previous film, there was a scene with Harry playing Quidditch (against Hufflepuff) and then he suddenly fell from his broom after being overwhelmed by dementors. The Hufflepuff Seeker was none other than Cedric, and he caught the Snitch shortly after. It is not mentioned in the film but it is said in the book that after catching the Snitch, Cedric soon realized what had happened to Harry and immediately offered to replay the match. However, Gryffindor captain, Oliver Wood, declined this offer, saying that Hufflepuff had won the game fair and square. Just another reason why Hufflepuff is the greatest House with the greatest qualities (IMO 😉) and we're glad to have Amber join our ranks!

"The Goblet of Fire" was a real turning point for the series. Not only did it mark the first full introduction of Voldemort (played brilliantly by Ralph Fiennes), it also treated most of the child actors much more seriously. I suppose that MAY be the reason why nobody has mentioned her in Downton Abbey Now the first time I had known of Maggie Smith is when I watched the 1981 movie version of "Clash of the Titans" and she played the goddess 'Thetis'. When cable television first became available to us, we watched that movie over and over again. It has been years since we watched it though. Then again Downton Abbey did have only 2 movies that came out after season 6 of the television show had ended. personally, I think Julian Fellowes created the first movie to bring audiences who have never seen the show to be curious about it enough to watch the series through streaming services to become more familar with the characters. I think it worked! The second move Downton Abbey a New Era I think that about sums it up for entire cast and the show as a whole. Emma Watson was already pretty but in the books, Hermione is commonly described as 'plain' because she doesn't care about her looks and prefers studying(She also had buck teeth). The Yule Ball scene is a huge reveal that Hermione is very pretty if she puts in the work, so much so that Ron and Harry actually didn't recognize her at first. She later reveals to Harry that in order to look like that every day, she'd have to put in hours of work.
Also left out of the movie is Fleur Delacour's story. Fleur is part Veela, a magical race of sentient women who have an enchanting beauty and actual magic that causes men to want to do anything to impress them. The reason Ron just randomly asked her to the ball was because of this allure magic.
Also also, Snape in the books is way more of a cruel jerk. He constantly takes points from Harry for stuff like 'breathing too loud,' he sabotages Harry's potion grades, he constantly bullies Neville, and one time Hermione was hit by a spell that made her front teeth grow to the point where they were past her face, and Snape said he didn't see a difference between that and Hermione's regular buck teeth.

This movie, but moreso... THE BOOK. This was the book that made me an absolute Harry Potter fanatic when I was a kid. I read the first 3 with my dad, and I was the same age as Harry as all of these came out. When I read this one by myself though? I couldn't believe how good it was, and I related to him so much because we were the same age.
The moment Cedric's dad realizes... When I was a kid reading this, it made me cry. The movie got me too.
Now that I'm a parent though... It's just so gut wrenching. The performance is so good that I can't help but think of my own boys, and it ALWAYS hits me so hard.

Nice reaction guys. Now we're in a totally different ball game, now this a true battle of Good vs Evil, just like Lord of the Rings and Star Wars
The reason it was so painful for Neville to see the effects of the "Cruciatis" curse the torture curse is that this curse was used by death eaters to torture his parents, Frank and Alice Longbottom, making them crazy to the point they've since been hospitalised in a special hospital for wizards and haven't shown any improvement of their mental condition since. Go see them is always traumatising for him.
The memory from the pensine is something that happened after Voldemort was "defeated" by baby Harry : Death-Eaters being trialed. In that scene, we learn several things :
    1) Igor Karkaroff, the head-master of the Durmstrangt school, used to be a Death Eater
    2) We learn about the torturing of Frank and Alice Longbottom
    3) We learn about Barty Crouch Jr, the son Barty Croupton Sr (the grey haired guy, he works for the ministry of magic) being a death-eater. About this, one thing important to know is that, Barty Crouch used hi power and his relations to avoid his son being taken to Azkaban and tried to lock him up himself. Barty Crouch is the dark haired guy we see with Voldemort during the opening scene and he's also the guys who throws the Voldemort sign after the attack on the Quidditch World Cup..
So basically we have a death-eater at loose, in contact with Voldemort and we know Voldemort had given him a mission to send the others a sign that would warn them that Voldemort is coming back and that they need to be ready

Yes, but Harry is only an average student because he doesn't actually put forth the effort in class or homework. When Harry actually puts in the effort, like when Remus was his DADA professor or when he had Snape's copy of Advanced Potion Making and wasn't under the impression that he'd fail no matter what, Harry gets phenomenal grades. Harry hold himself back because of his friends. Harry sees how frustrated Hermione gets when he or anyone else does better than her, so he tries not to do better than she does in class. Ron doesn't want to put in the effort himself, and he gets upset when Harry doesn't slack off with him. Harry even admits to picking his electives because they're what Ron picked rather than doing research into them because he didn't want to be alone. Harry's fear of being abandoned isn't as intense as his fear of fear itself, but it plays a close second for him. Harry is brilliant when he lets himself be, like when he teaches the DA or even when he works out the sphinx's riddle, but he's always held himself back for fear of driving those closest to him away.

yea this is one of the few fanchises that stays strong through the whole series. loved these whent hey 1st came out, we had to wait years for them to finish it was sucked soooo much. i like to watch them all back to back once a year like my star trek shows and star wars and what not. glad yall are hooked on it too. keep up the good work.

Don't forget that his mother took his place in Azkaban, so he could escape. Another instance of a mother's love saving her child, although misguided in this instance.
I am looking forward to the next Harry Potter reaction, especially Amber's,, as I know what is coming next. Doesn't everyone love kittens?

In the book.. the kids were told to pack dress robes along with their curriculum school books. Did anyone ever notice how HERMOINE’s dress matched the colors of Ron’s dress robes? Almost as if she sent an Owl to Mrs Weasley and got his colors ahead of time. She wanted Ron to ask her from the very begging! That’s why she was so devastated and yelled “Ron, you ruined everything!”😢

They don’t go into it in the films, but Krum is a good dude. He did what he did in the maze under the imperius curse. Not a death eater at all.
