*JW and Everyone* @3:52, regarding the tattooed female there. We have a serious contradiction going on with her actual situation. The problem is this: It has been our understanding that the Animal Control vets do *complete hysterectomies* on the female monkeys as opposed to simply cutting their fallopian tubes. This young female still has her ovaries. The swollen, red bottom on this girl shows us that she is obviously in her first menses. This physical symptom is created via the hormones produced by the ovaries and could not happen without her ovaries being intact and fully functioning. So, either they are now no longer doing complete hysterectomies and are instead doing simple tubal ligations or they are removing only the uterus and leaving the ovaries. Is there ANY way to contact the Animal Control Agency and ask which birth control surgical method they are now doing on the females?
They sterilize the female monkeys by blocking the fallopian tubes, so that the sperms and eggs cannot meet one another. Meanwhile, as the ovaries and the uterus of a female are intact, they are working normally; that's why a sterilized female can still has the sexual excitement and menstruation, but can no longer have kids.
His stump seems to be contracting and shrinking in size. A couple of years ago he still had a portion of his forearm. Thanks for spotting and filming him for us.
The shrinking is normal for a limb not being used, that I know. Also, when looking at his stump, it kind of looks 'out of place' in my amateur eyes, and it looks uncomfortable (or even painful?) as one sees a bony part almost protruding? I don't know if it always been like that, or if he acquired that later, in a fight or by everyday wear & tear? @JW

This video has changed my perception of the cognitive abilities in these Macaques. I was aware that females often mate with males from other troops, and I assumed that females also rejected the advances of males they did not wish to mate with. I also assumed that females would be somewhat selective in the males they did choose for mating. But I was unaware that females were so intensely persistent with a single male. I would think that a female in estrus would attract the attention of most nearby males, which would result in males fighting for the opportunity to mate with her. This did not seem to be the case here. Although I know that this young female’s intense, persistent attempts to get Stumpy’s attention is quite similar to human behavior, I’m surprised that her obvious “need” did not cause the attention of a number of males, nor her inclination to seek attention, in any way, from any other males. This causes me to think that these monkeys possess more complex feelings of attraction to specific individuals of the opposite sex than I thought was the case. This brings up so many questions in my mind such as: how does their individual views of physical appearance may possibly affect their reproductive choices? And, do the females make their reproductive choices based on a male’s physical attributes, genetic diversity, or maybe their hierarchal placement? There is so much research knowledge of Rhesus behavior that can be gained from watching videos provided by JW and AM through their hobby and love of these monkeys. It is invaluable. I am very thankful, and the scientific/zoological community should be thankful as well.

My interest in these primates, aside from the obviously adorable babies, began with coming across a Cambodian channel of an infant macaque being cared for by someone in their home. I was immediately aware of it’s similar behaviors to that of a human infant. This led me to become interested in seeing if I could see more similarities, which led me to the Cambodian temple channels and AM’s channel. I immediately noticed the difference in AM’s videos from all the others and began to see a growing number of infant monkeys on channels with people punishing the infant monkeys for sucking their thumbs and grabbing at food. I saw baby monkeys being forced to walk bipedal and being cruelly punished for being monkeys, and this led to my awareness of the killing of monkeys to steal the babies and the abuse of temple monkeys to film the drama. I stopped watching every single one except Arroz’s channel. Arroz’s videos were of well adjusted monkeys behaving normally in their environment and having still had a strong curiosity about the cognitive abilities and thought processes of these monkeys, I continued watching his videos. That led me to JW’s channel, and recently the Monkeys Inc channel. I don’t do research for science, but I have learned a lot from observing the monkeys, and I continue to learn as I notice patterns in their behaviors that spark my attention to specific details as I watch them. I can only imagine the kind of invaluable insights that AM, JW, and Monkeys Inc must possess from their hobby. I’m currently feeling like I will never be able to commit to memory the families and familial connections of Skullhead’s troop now that Monkeys Inc has been introducing them, but I felt the same when first seeing the smaller troops on the other channels. I’m fairly good at identifying most of those monkeys now. Anyway, I’ve now written an unnecessarily long response. Thank you again, and thank you for your suggestion of Monkeys Inc. The young lady who is running it seems quite knowledgeable regarding Skullhead’s troop. I wonder if she could be the wonderful young lady who cared for Charlotte because she clearly knows and cares about the monkeys. I am looking forward to learning more about Teeny’s troop.

It looked like Stumpy was looking for that young female being in estrus for the first time when she wasn't close to him. A kind of game to show the rest of the troop, specially the other males. I’m afraid the odds are against Goldie as she was sterilised in last November. And since it’s a newly uploaded video, it takes a while for TH-cam to present other options. I think at the moment, they’re available.

So apparently they do tubal ligation in the sterilization program and not hysterectomy? Which means that we may see some have babies that are sterilized? It happens in humans could it happen in monkeys too?
In one of AM's videos he mentions a micicle baby as the mom was supposed to have been sterilized a year or so before. Something about a clip slipping or not holding right I think. Mom had the tattoo and a newer baby boy after the tattoo. I think it was AM...
Stumpy wasn't at all I interested in helping a gal out, too bad he probably won't have very many more opportunities. I'm glad he was at least able to father Stompy.

Stumpy looks so thin. I feel so bad for him. He's had such a hard life, and I hope things change for him. Thank you for the updares and a great video
Stumpy wasn't at all I interested in helping a gal out, too bad he probably won't have very many more opportunities. I'm glad he was at least able to father Stompy.
How come some Monkeys faces and other parts of their bodies turn so red?
It happens during mating season. Females faces and especially their bottoms turn red. The males genitalia also turns red during this time.
In males its getting older and shows their virility!

Most likely a snare from poachers which probably took his mother. When Arroz started documenting him many moons ago he was an orphan.
