    Thank you very much, buddy. I just went to Petco today and they want like $150 for something that’s not even as long as your custom cat house. Looks like I got plenty of wood as I work for a transportation company. All I’m missing is that sisal rope and some carpet. I’m gonna try to make this on the weekend using your video as a guide thank you very much, buddy.

      @ well I finished building it today. I had the day off wasn’t as long or as nice as the one in your video, but I think my guy cats will enjoy it. I spray-painted mine with gold coating
      Thanks again, David .

    The arch build is smart. I have wondered how to make one because I am not bright enough to figure out. Two thumbs up! The casters are a great idea. Thanks for posting!

    This would be a great class to take. Love the ideas, no doubt happy cats. Unexpected Bonus feedback from the crows in the backround, they approve.

    Amazing work, came back from home depot with some scrap wood and I was looking for some ideas!
    In regards to the carpet around the post, if both ends meet on the face of the post instead of the corners wouldn't hide the white line ?

  • @NiceGuy-gc2tz
    @NiceGuy-gc2tz 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Looks really good. One thing I would change is the color of the carpet. I would have used a few different colors, just to give it some contrast and make it a little more interesting to look at.

    For your carpet, you could have done the join in the middle of the post, then you could just butt the two edges together.

    This would be nice to do but I am not a wood worker. I am really bad at reading a tape measure. I would rather pay to get a good stable cat tower then try and do it myself and have it all fail. I know I don't have that ability.

    • @robertperkins8096

      Only one way to learn! If you're bad at it get one that has fractions on it already. You can do it.
      Woodworking is fun, and a great stress reliever.

      What you don’t happen to have a wood shop in your garage?

  • @reddlief
    @reddlief 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Great explanations - I'm skipping the casters, as our cats are heavier and leap up and down...even locking casters will be taxed. We also need to weight the base to avoid tipping..could attach an anti-tip rope to wall or bracket to floor but painted drywall and hard wood floors need to be kept whole.

    • @yellowhammerwoodcrafts
      @yellowhammerwoodcrafts  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’d probably just do a thicker base. Instead of one or two 3/4” sheets doubled up, do 3-4 and that should definitely keep it from tipping

  • @kevinsilverado975

    Are you using treated 4x4?? Hope not.

    • @yellowhammerwoodcrafts
      @yellowhammerwoodcrafts  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yes and I’ve researched it. It’s fine. Compared to other lumbers, pressure-treated wood is probably not the most eco-friendly choice. Although this lumber contains no arsenic, it still contains other chemicals such as copper and nonmetallic biocides. Though these chemicals pose no problems for humans, animals or plants when used in a residential setting, these chemicals can leach or drain away in the long-term. ACQ lumber leaches but is low in toxicity compared to CCA. More research needs to be done on the exact impact of small amounts of copper in the environment. Since 2003, treated wood is a lot safer.

  • @jaycie5021
    @jaycie5021 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Nice but I'd probably do 2 things differently.
    1 i wouldn't use casters so having carpet on the bottom as to not scratch the floor.
    2 i would use hannger bolts to the tree can be dismantled easier.
    Beside that good build.

  • @WayneMacDonald1
    @WayneMacDonald1 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    With the curved bed, since you have so many cross pieces, why not just put the carpet on directly rather than trying to bend wood? The weight of a cat isn't enough to cause deflection.

    • @yellowhammerwoodcrafts
      @yellowhammerwoodcrafts  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Just more comfortable for the cat.

    I just bought the highest rated 42" Cat Tree from Chewy and will receive it tomorrow: 10/29/24 - - - I did Not buy it based on the rating, in fact I didn't even realize the rating until after I bought it.
    -> There are some things Us Cat Lovers need to know about Cat Trees.
    1) Most (99%) of the posts that hold up the beds are not wood 4x4's - they are the crappy Cardboard Tubes and what's even worse, is that at Each BASE of these Cardboard Tubes is a very thin plastic like "Cup" that's only glued to the Tubes will 100% structurally Fail not too long after you buy ANY Cat Tree.
    1a) My knowing this, made me Only look at the ones to where the Beds are supported by Two (2) Posts instead of One (1).
    2) Some Posts are with the Rope, but ONLY in the Center of each Post, with carpet at the very top and the very bottom. So what happens is that usually Cats like to stretch their body and end up scratching above the Rope and then the carpet at the top gets pulled down.
    - I bought the only Cat Tree that I can find that mostly addresses both problems above.
    - I bought this one: www.chewy.com/frisco-42-in-heavy-duty-faux-fur-cat/dp/193422
