Awesome cat tree! Looks much better than most I've seen in the store. I'd need a much heavier base though. My cats like to chase each other around the house and tend to knock over anything in their path!

It is interesting to see how well you used pieces of carpets to line the MDF. You skipped the time-wasting introductions and jargons used in many “DIY” videos and used time-lapse (“fast forward”) appropriately. The last couple of minutes with the cats in the “tree-house” was icing on the cake! Thanks John for the brilliantly created video.

Now those are 2 very fat, happy and comfy kitties who love their Daddy even more now! 😍😁
I love how precise every measurement was. High quality craftsmanship relies more on precise measuring and less about slathering everything with glue to hold things together.
Keep up the awesome work dude!! 😁😁

Looks Fantastic, Great Job! Just wondering why you didn't carpet everything before you put the hideaway box on the top, wouldn't it have been easier to carpet, before assembled? Super Awesome, I'm impressed, so is your kitty too, I'm sure it's so grateful!

I also like woodworking. It would be easier to carpet the base, shelf and cat house before it’s assembled. Brackets could be used to support the shelf and large bolts would be better to secure the base and cat house to the posts. I like the idea of using 4x4 lumber for the posts. Your cats love it. Now to make a Catio for the balcony and a work bench. It is painful working on the floor. Thanks for the video.

1:14 i like the idea of cutting close to the ground but does it really make clean up easier? i plan on building a bartop arcade cabinet this seems like it would be better than using a work bench

    • @johnbarneswood
      @johnbarneswood  6 ปีที่แล้ว

It is an easier clean up when cutting on the ground, but the only real reason I did this was because I was building it in my apartment living room. Probably better to cut standing up instead of bending over for hours

This is awesome video show us how to DIY a cat tree. I just have 1 question:
Why the price of the meterial add up together is even higher than just buy one?
Please correct me if I am wrong. (all prices estimated.)
    $50 ply wood
    $10 4X4
$30 carpet (4*8 feet plywood count as half coverd, total 16sqft. using $2/sqft carpet)
$20 rope (8feet 4x4/half inch rope about 200 rounds. each round 4x4 is 16 inch, total of 3200inch which is more than 200 feet inch rope needed. use $10/100feet rope.)
Thus without nails, glue, staple, sand paper etc small appliances, without labor, electric and clean after, total of $110 is needed at minimal. Which I have already used almost the cheapest meterials.
Meanwhile, a 3 level 50-60 inch cat tree on chwey or petsmart is around $100.
    I don't know. WHY?

The kind where the fibers stick straight out and aren’t folded back into the carpeting mesh. When the fibers stick straight out, the cats will have a harder time ripping them out and the product will last longer
