He and a few others got shut out from country in the 69 or early 70's, So they went on their own, rebelled, and the hair grew out. LOL !!! There is a great track here of him Playing Stardust, on the tonight show, you may want to hear.
Wish I was sitting in Terlingua ghost town in southwest Texas looking out into the landscape listening to Willie singing his music. Maybe in the Stardust theatre, sipping on a ice cold Corona with a lime in it.
An obviously beautiful song Willie originally recorded in 1969, the album of the same title, AND it was this 1969 album that Willie first started using this famous Martin guitar.

She's an old lady now, but beauty still shines from her. I've always loved them both, in my own peculiar way.
