You are by far the best teacher I've come across on TH-cam. The way you explain what you're doing, but more importantly why you're doing it, makes it easy to understand. I know there is no substitute for experience, but you definetely give me confidence that I can start flintknapping with an understanding of what I'm trying to achieve. Thank you!
I appreciate the humor, but more importantly, the explanation was probably the easiest I have come across so far. You explained the very thing I have been struggling with perfectly- popping flakes across the surface.
This was really helpful. I've watched a bunch of these over the last few weeks and you were able to fill in the gaps. It's finally starting to make sense!
Just starting out. Glass is the easiest to practice with and to source, but you will get cut lol. There's no way around it, even if you wear gloves. Your tutorials and explanations are great!
Awesome thank you ! Just started putting together a tool kit to start knapping made my own boppers and Ishi sticks etc. I felt that if you want to step back in time and pursue this craft you should be able to build your own tools plus it’s cheaper. Lol
Very informative and great job explaining what you're doing. I've watched several videos trying to understand what they're doing. Now, after this vid, I actually know what I'm supposed to be doing. XD Definitely going to check out your other vids.
I have a couple of efficacy questions, coming from an uninformed point of view. Is this genuinely much better than just using a sharp, roughly triangular shard of glass attached to an arrow? Why bother meeting the bevels in the middle? It would be thicker without, but is that such a problem? Once it's sharp it's sharp, surely you are primarily after it being sharp and adding a little weight to the front end of the arrow. I'm sure it's more consistent to have a bunch of arrows exactly the same giving more consistent flight but it also seems like this takes time not only to make one of these, but also to learn how and also opens you up to a bunch of infection risks from cuts in a survival situation.
The video is great but knapping and flaking isnt so easy based on my trial. Seems good when you watch but when you translate it into action you bump into problems. My glass piece refuses to give away flakes :) Probably my tools are not the best but after some time I give up. I have reached to certain point but paused for now till next trial.
Using glass to learn pressure flaking without wearing gloves is very dangerous. The injuries can be very real & unforgiving. Seek a pre-Neolithic approach using bone, stone , antler, horn, & wood if you are truly interested in learning Lithic Technology.
Very good, but I still can't make flakes go to te center, you pressure on te point of delta? Because I'm doing in the side, that's my problem, I can't get more thinner 😜😈
For everyone saying go hunting with these, NEVER. Hunt with glass arrows, unless your using obsidian, it can break off inside the animal and fracture making it very painful and not killing the animal, most places is illegal to hunt with glass arrows, you can do this with flint as well.

Hands down the most helpful flint napping channel out there!
I have to say of all the knapping videos i have seen yours are the most informative. Thank you!
I have found blue arrowheads that Native Americans made from telegraph insulators in Dakota. Great video!
That is amazing
This is the first video where I’ve finally been able to understand the concept of pressure flaking to thin and shape! Thank you!!!

Super glue is fantastic for closing small cuts from glass. No need for Band-Aid and the wound heals more swiftly.
WHAT A WONDERFUL VIDEO FOR A NEWBIE !!
Simple. Easy. Educational… CONVINCING. !!
A only a simple few tools.
NICELY DONE !

This is a great video really good explanation of how things work very helpful, thanks
You make excellent video's for us learning knappers. The native American's should be proud !
As a trick to help with the small cuts , I put super glue on the tips of my fingers , you have a cool channel , thanks for sharing

You're an artist great job

I keep a bottle of crazy glue handy.....works great on cuts.....That`s the thing about knapping....You have to learn to like to bleed.
Thats edgy
Thanks. Mine turned out pretty good. Wife expects me to hunt now. Well...soon.
Dont hunt with glass, at least in the states in illegal, but yea don't hunt with glass arrowheads,
I love all you amazing videos keep up the good work
very good explanation
Thanks I'm just starting to do this and this is very helpful.
Good job
If never said this before. But I could teach you a few things. Good video.
Question would you be able to hunt with these?
Yes, if it’s legal in your area.
Awesome!
i also only use a hammer stone and ebrader. i like to hit the side of the bottle to get the bottem of the bottle.
Excellent!
Awesome! That's what I needed to know.
Why not wear gloves? Do they restrict dexterity too much?
Jay gloves do limit the dexterity and holding small pieces with then is really difficult
thanks for the upload, thats awesome

Takes a LOT of pressure. Soft, flabby cubicle dwellers don’t have the hand strength.
Awesome, thanks.
I assume these are single shot?

I learned that flint is probably the sharpest clean breaks from the main block I enjoy using flint more then any other substance
I thought brutally maiming the animal was the whole point of hunting.
@@canadiangemstones7636yes, but only AFTER it's dead, so you need to hit it well to kill it fast
Indention* lol
Judging by your nails I'm guessing you play guitar
How to video but fast forward through the how to demstrations so makes his videos pointless
