I Made An Epic Carving Knife From These Old Scissors

- This pair of kitchen shears has been used in this house for a very long time. Well, they broke, and instead of trying to fix them, I did something way better: I made a carving knife! Apparently, this is some pretty good steel, and this turned out to be one of the sharpest objects I've ever held. I'm extremely happy with how this turned out.

Thanks! For being such a simple version of the jig, it worked surprisingly well😁(I've seen much more complex versions of the same jig, but they're a bit overkill lol)

You don't harden stainless steel like that my friend 😮
You don't? I thought the only thing I sort of messed up was that, instead of heating the steel up slowly, I threw it right into the already blazing fire. My set up is definitely primitive, but if there's something else I really messed up I'd love to know! (the steel did harden well, and it's now one of my sharpest knives😁)
Some "fine stainless" steels actually have lower chrome content, and can be case hardened in a coal forge, adding a very small amount of carbon during the heating process, it's called carburization
@VanHorn210 he means that typically stainless steel doesn't have enough carbon to quench harden

You heat up to temperature then cool down between two plates of aluminium and air cool with compressed air ...done
