I live in US. I don't let my kid go to a local park himself. Your apartment for $300 USD is insanely cheap. In US, it would be $2000 USD.

The first time I felt my life was in danger was during military training at school. Of course, it was not a true danger to life but it was the closest one. In China, security issues are the least to worry about.😂

In the US access to hospital is impossible if u don't have health insurance n u have to fend for yourself . Death is inevitable n the deceased may have to pay to cover the cost of burial which is unaffordable. In the end passers by not related will just dig a hole n throw the body into the hole without prayers

There are always people who attack China with the lack of internet freedom, but the reality is that in China, if you want to know the world as an adult, you can browse the world network at any time, and no one will stop you. The only requirement is that you don't publicize those extreme contents.

I am in GuangZhou. I understand you don't want to put your kid under too much pressure. In fact, the pressure of the child mainly comes from the parents. If the parents can deal with the relationship with the child wisely, this is not a problem. Children can grow faster in a stressful environment, as long as the pressure is within the right range. It's up to the parents.

My son personally, I don't even bother to check on his grade as long as he maintain a above average grade and enjoy the part of being a teenager. He once asked me if I will force him to be a Doctor, my reply, no. Do whatever you like and enjoy your youth, but remembet, nobody succeed in life without proper education. So in other words I force him to go to college, right now. He had no say about that...😂😂😂😂

    1) Temu is the global version of pinduoduo, of cos stuff there are more expensive in general.
    2) IG/FB isn't even the problem in internet, those aren't even popular for the young now. It's Tik Tok (douyin). Douyin can be toxic but surely not as much as Tik Tok. The bottom line, like it or not, China government have censorship on the internet content and there also regulation in law for how long non-adult can use social media and online gaming.
    3) to be fair, China have as many catfish on internet as other places.

International schools in China are not so stuffed with books. Grades oriented education is only applied to local kids who go to a local school not an international one. And if your kids want to go to a Chinese University, just remember don't give him a Chinese nationality. A foreign passport makes it really easy to get in a brand university in China.

As you have emphasized, children need a balanced lifestyle for development. If a child is not going to survive in the "rat race elitist" environment in China of 1.4 billion(?) the child can still be educated in China and not necessarily excel in academic studies and exams but engage in physical and sporting activities as well. When the child grows up, if he/she cannot gain entrance into a higher educational institution in China, they can always enrol in one in another country. Emphasis must be explained to the child that excelling in academic studies is not necessary nor the ultimate objective but a rounded education and self development. Living in an environment like China enables the child to be exposed to the prowess of the country's people's ability to innovate, resilient and competitiveness and industriousness to continuously improve and catch up and stay ahead. These are good attributes for children to be exposed to and inculcate.

Actually as foreigner in China its way easier than native to enter great university. Australia has the most competitive secondary graduation examination of two years, of all countries. Very competitive. And yes , most of high scorers that are rising criteria are Chinese students. But it is not a bad thing. It does not affect daily life as you are imagining. My children are now 31 and 35 having their children, finished degrees in sciences, played piano and had plenty of outside and friendship time, even worked long hours for pocket money. I see china has a lot of kids on playgrounds and amazing sport facilities in schools. I think you are making an exaggeration of how schooling is from the point of a parent view , not your job position. It is all normal. It just goes a day at a time and it is normal. And kids do like education as well, it is not something they resist as unpleasant experience. So what I want to say basically is that you are more scared of parenting a school kid than what it ever gets so overwhelming.

You can investigate the international schools when your child is ready to go. They don't have such a pressure than the government schools regarding 100% achievement. I can speak out of personal experience.

what I observe is a kid raised in China can easily adopt life in the west, kids raised in the west can hardly move to' China when they grow up. And there is a big gang in China, why it is so save.

    Hello Lizzy,
    All are good 😂🎉😊
    But
The bad thing living in China is the wages is not good enough to spend outside China 😅.
Also , China is a family centre and loads of people everywhere day time and night time . If you are anxious people around you it might not suit you .
    All the best !

With inconsistent standards between rural areas and the big cities, the health care system in China has been rated as 144th in the world by the World Health Organization. The country spends 5.5% of its GDP on health and has a relatively low number of doctors (1.6 per 1,000 population).

    • @redbelief

Hey I'm Chinese Australian and I think its important you go to China and see for yourself before you pass judgement. I get how the media likes to only focus on the negatives but as someone who's seen both I can attest that a lot of the positives are true, and a lot of the negatives are exaggerated (but still hold some ground as well).
It's important that we don't just let the media decide how we think.
