thank you so much for doing a vocal test! i like how it colored your voice more so than the origin. it's definitely darker. the origin made your voice sound a bit brittle and hollow. i'm glad i preordered it . i like how it sounded with your speaking voice as well, there's so much clarity.

Thanks! I just did a video of it mixed with acoustics and vox recorded with both mics so I could see how it sits in a mix with no processing. I'll put it up right after I edit it.

I dunno if I’m hearing different but I find the element to sound more hollow, it’s smoother but more hallow... found the origin to be more punchy

Thank you for the demo! If maybe you're planning to do more comparison videos I'm suggesting to test how directional it is, since Aston said that Element has dynamic mic characteristic in rejecting noise. Maybe you can compare it with Origin on how much the the guitar bleeds to it when used as vocal mic and you're singing while playing guitar 👍

Solid test! Sounds like some Radiohead influence exists there!

The colorization on the Origin is silky smooth. The Element sounds better for podcasts tho with the deep proximity effect.

Not convinced by the Element, mainly on vocals.
The Origin gives a richer sound, not stacked to a narrow bass zone.
    Thanks for this extensive test.

on its own, it sounds super-boomy / bass-heavy, but not in a good way. Like somebody just put shitty EQ on it, making it darkly hollow sounding. With the sparkly v76 (with bass-cut at 80hz) and a compressor engaged it kinda sounds ok. Not sure, what sources i would want this for, as it already sounds horribly unbalanced, eq-wise.
But maybe it is just my ears being trained for a certain way mikes represent music. On the martin it actually sounded kinda nice (mind you, with the plugins it sounded better, but it always made the guitar sound nice).
    thanx for the extensive tests!

The element is very full sounding, the origin brighter. I like the element since it can be used for podcasting and recording vocals. Ver-Sa-Tile. Not a bad mic for 199.00. The magnetic pop filter is clean. TY

It’s a nice mic at price point definitely different this better then my open box review I like this better then my blue bird more bright element dark I’m learning still needs desser get a Telefunken 4 bright or Newman 193 for darker if u got the cash but these lower mics r not bad at all it more about how u mix that ten year warranty can’t complain at all

That Element is horrible for vocals. Truly atrocious. Sorry to be so frank, but it is.
