I’ve seen way too many people insta lock gyarados and call jungle, youre so much better off just laning and waiting for your jungle to gank and help you get a kill, you evolve so much faster overall. Edit:Note to you junglers, gank your magikarp lane if you can, if it goes well it will pay off big in the long run
Unfortunately people did not know how XP and XP share worked. Now we have the effort bar/ guage for people to be confused with. We're gonna have some exiting drafts😅
I have a feeling that some people may want to use scoring shield to get the +10’s much easier. Add attack weight and probably add muscle band or Razor claw to get Gyarados a lot of attack while you stack +10 to get Gyarados fast so you can avoid the Magikarp phase lasting for years. Other than that, maybe you don’t need the score shield, but I think that it’s a really good option to look at for a fast Gyarados.
Played Gyarados this past weekend and went on an 88% win rate. It felt so fun, looking forward to any buffs because this was the most fun I had with a new pokemon in this game in a long while.
At it's current state 7/10. Really like the evolution mechanic on magikarp. Sometimes I get really lucky and can evolve late lvl 4 early lvl 5. Bounce gives great mobility. Worth the coins imo.
You guys don't understand aqua tail. Yes it's easy to get canceled, but it has a huge range. You're not supposed to brawl with it, you're supposed to engage or kite with it. Then you close the distance with your other ability and release the final hit. Now, i do agree it deserves some quality of life changes, but wanting it to be unstoppable is like wanting zoroark night slash to be unstoppable. It's a combo attack with a huge pay off, it can't be free to get there.
I disagree. Everything in its kit wants it to brawl. The sheer fact that you’re moving forward with each wave is not kiting. You’re moving directly to an opponent, the opposite of kiting. It needs a redesign, an additional survivability function, like a shield or heal. It’s difficult to stay alive when channeling.
@@chaseemills I definitely think that you should be able to choose where to move when using it yeah. As for shields, it already gets them from both waterfall and bounce so no thank you, I don't want another Metagross situation. Healing might be ok but again, it has range so maybe it doesn't need it as much. I just don't think it's a bad ability. Yeah it's clunky, but if you fix the clunk it's probably fine. Not everything needs to be S tier.
Using slow smoke to setup early kills for you and your lane partner works really well. People try to attack allot for the solo Que and carry and you can take advantage of this with slow smoke and trap them on your side of the lane and get level 4 evo. Then run bounce/dragon breath and you can jump the enemy while charging bounce hidden in a bush then use slow smoke after jumping them.
I agree with CrisHeroes in that Aqua Tail needs a bit of a redesign. Maybe it gives a small shield or heal for each wave that hits an enemy, or a flat shield while it’s channeling.
Also needs a hindrance resistance. It's just lucario close combat before the buff all over again. EDIT: Maybe it could even use faster casting similar to lucario's ult. It takes so long to do even the minimum combo.
I find it ludicrous that you can’t use it in between Waterfall dashes and keep attacking with it, it seems like they’re kinda made to be used together with how they both have a window of standing there
That's not enough. It needs more mobility. It's so easy to kite him during the execution of that move... I think gyarados needs to move, even if slowed down, during the use of its autos and Aqua Tail, AND healing.
Sooo this may be dumb.....but i pmay Magikarp like a sidekick, whoever is my lane mate im basically ya patental bond hit. Exp share and i help them level up with wilds, they level up i get my effort and double team everyone. In the early game dying isnt bad risk for reward. Cuz big Garry is just OP
Thank you for this guide and those like it! It’s been REALLY helpful for onboarding myself and some friends as long time fans of the franchise and MOBA games. Yeehaw!
I think Garyoakdos would combo well with a brawly solo carry Pokémon like lucario or blaziken that can secure an early lead and make room for magikarp to get farm and score
So what exactly is keeping Gyarados out of the top tiers when it comes to all rounders? I am curious on what the meta is right now for normal players as I am pretty new to the game. Is it lack of a move that resets on a kill? Or it just can't make things explode like some of the other all rounders can?
A. Magikarp. The fact that it's essentially useless until it evolves means that it almost suffers from Opportunity cost, since why would you want Magikarp when you could have an All-rounder like Buzz, Tsar or Lucario in that same slot. B. Aqua Tail. This move sucks, plain and simple. Which means that if an enemy team comp is rough for melee mons, Gyarados doesn't have a second kit to fall back on. C. Dragonite still exists. Gyarados' only usable play style (Bounce/Dragonbreath) just doesn't work as well as Outrage. Gyarados just lacks the chasing ability, survivability and duration of Outrage. Yes, you can get a pick or two with it, but you could have gotten that pick with basically anything else, and then also continued to be useful to the team instead of more likely than not dying for it. Overall, Gyarados' biggest problem is that it's unrefined. It has solid enough ideas (for the most part, I hate Bounce/DB), but they're not executed well
I don't think it's a bug...maybe they intentionally stopped it from getting atk speed buff from objectives so that it doesn't get broken .....also top regi when advancing towards goal zones does make sense cz it behaves like any other wild Pokemon + the atk speed is being used for defending not attacking so it doesn't break the game
Gyrados *can* jungle, but only as a gyrados, not a magikarp, which kinda ruins the point of instant calling jungle (but great if your ally doesn't return to jungle). It's way better in lane with an exp.share partner who is actually supportive and has some CC, stunning enemies so magikarp can score 10+ is very helpful.
Doesn't need buff, they say it needs buff just because they don't have a copy of mewtwo, people are so used to broken pokemon that they don't see a normal one
@@ramirez020 bro.... its the newest pokemon and it has the lowest winrate inside the game. its absolutely getting a buff what are you talking about lmao
The actual best guide to play Gyarados: Don’t play it. Even if you like Dragon Breath, just play every other bruiser instead. You’ll perform a lot better.
Whenever i use gyarados, my jungler never comes and help me get a kill or an assist Instead he goes straight to the other lane.😢 and my lane partner will be busy with his own thing. Sigh..
Probably the biggest factor not mentioned is if you’re the jungler and you have a magikarp on your team in lane…GO TO THAT LANE. The lane doesn’t stand a chance otherwise and you also can set your magikarp up to evolve early if you set up kills/assists for it.
I really don´t like Gyarados moveset, its supposed to be an destroyer of cities that can burn it in fire while raining, it should have a destructive enraged moves

Blame Phil for all of the jungle Gyarados, LMAO
Yes, when I am jungle and see a laning magikarp, I gank that lane so that my 2 teammates can feast on him.
It's also SUPER vulnerable to an invade and then your entire team is boned.
That's ONLY if your jungler wants to help you but most times they won't help and take the experience for themselves.
Unfortunately people did not know how XP and XP share worked. Now we have the effort bar/ guage for people to be confused with. We're gonna have some exiting drafts😅

Returning player: I agree it's fun to play. Metagross and Gyrarados brought me back but Gyarados is frail. It needs his buffs asap.

Magikarp's attack speed cannot be changed, so attack speed buffs only work on Gyarados.
Yes
I got a penta on my first game as Gyarados (I used dragon breath/waterfall)

I think it's the fact of it being so weak in the early game. Just bully Magikarp and it usually has a hard time evolving.

The more "don't jungle" you write, the more people will jungle. 'Cause "omg resident pokeboy said don't."
I'm really enjoying the pre-game tips! Keep that up!
He's actually a fantastic jungle. You just haven't adjusted your initial jungle play style to suit Gyarados is all.
Don't know if it's a troll or not but you used the waterfall image at the beginning of the match as a heads up
Yesterday I was matched with a player named JungleKarp, and you'll never guess what they instalocked.

How come no one uses the 6 white 6 brown emblem build that’s gives u 5% crit , I use it all the time it’s great
Is it hoooley or Paaleease? Does anyone know this mystery Spragels lore?
Yo spragles…I’m coming for you
Magikarp jungle steal is the best strat
Im at a standstill, between gyrados and falinks with my 14k aeos coins as a free to player😅
I really don´t like Gyarados moveset, its supposed to be an destroyer of cities that can burn it in fire while raining, it should have a destructive enraged moves
Flalinks guide when? 🥺
For me i agree but i don't agree for some reason
Scizor is OP atm. Gyarados is pure trash. Defo needs a buff.
Youmuus is the only guy that can jungle with this thing
I don't know, it seems like a troll play even if it does work.
I don't see why everybody says needs a buff, is a perfect balance pokemon, of course yo are not going to get 40 KOs
Bruh you get more effort for defeating enemy pokemon and scoring so are people jungling karp
You won’t get it easier this way
Me das plata para una skin ?
Gyarados or metagross
Metagross by a mile

Finally a rational comment hahaha I agree with you, people say it need a buff because they suck and they just want another mewtwo

guys do NOT buy gyarados, he is boring
Thats your opinion
as a saybleye main, laning gyrados is a great idea and please keep doing it but only if you arent on my team
