Hey I just recently returned to the game, and I have something you might want to look into. I went into ranked at the bottom of veteran (I have previously hit the top of ultra) I was playing away and was easily at a minimum of a 70% win rate (most likely higher) then I hit ultra two. Magically everything shifted. The first game I queued I had three teammates who clearly had no idea what was happening. So the downward spiral began game after game of by far the widest range of knowledge and skill I had seen since back one game filled with 10 sweaty people the next two junglers and a third person trailing behind my team mate and I to our lane.
Spragels, I'd just like to say that I really appreciate you for all that you've contributed to the community. Your videos not only helped me improve at unite but they were also what got me into unite in the first place. It might have been a bad year for unite, but it certainly wasn't a bad year for you. Stay winning.

I'm more of a casual player, as well. Mainly because I'm lazy and jump around different games, so I'm not too pressed about the competitive scene. But whenever I play with my friends and we hit masters, many problems become so pronounced. I started watching you last year and a lot of the things you've talked about has helped my friends (I'm always telling them about your advice and what you say in your videos, haha). So on behalf of them, thanks for all the helpful information and advice. ^_^
I was one of the many that dropped off the game about a year ago, one of several reasons being that I was sick of insanely broken release after insanely broken release. I still check in on your channel here and there out of morbid curiosity on how the game is doing, and I gotta say, I have no desire to go back to this frustrating thing. I got really lucky with the spins,120 trys 1000 coins and 400 tickets that was exactly what I needed I mean who wants 10000 or 100000 coins or even worse item enhancers if you can have tickets.
I left as a player since sometime in November. It just got so boring with the side content it was so hard for me to grind. The fact that we’ve had the exact same legendary unlock system since mewtwo also didn’t help. I don’t want to be so bitter about this game because it’s one of the best games when it’s in its best state. I really hope that timi can bounce back from this year because unite doesn’t need to have an early grave.
It was a rough year for sure. I stopped playing around the Ho-oh, and played a few games yesterday. Because of you and Cris I started playing a bit of Honor of Kings, and the game is so full of events and rewards that I kinda grew bitter of how they treated unite this year, specially with the free events giving only stickers. I hope they pay more attention to the players and the game, because the core is amazing, but I feel like there isn't much to keep the players motivated.
I quit and went to back to MLBB around Ho-Oh. Got high rank then went to HOK. Had fun up until the JJk event and can’t back to Unite to realize they were made by the same company. If they just fixed Unite they could make the game so much better than an other moba.
I feel like they should add more tutorials and penalties, especially for those who troll on purpose and spoil the match for their team, I can't tell you how many times I have teammates who had gotten upset for accidently taking their farm, or ones who go up in steal jungle, or ones who backcap, when its not necessary
Yah, if 4+ players report a player after a match they should be banned for the day from playing rank games, and if they get reported again from 4+ players the next day, ban for a week from rank games
Shout out to you for giving so much to the community, giving breakdowns here and there about the current event of the game, a beginner guide for this pokemon and that pokemon, even gone through that in-depth tutorial dodrio, I appreciate you so much and your reviews, breakdowns, etc are some of the reason that keeps me getting excited for this game

The best moment of the year was definitely worlds, with the 500 point mode and the dev letter saying they would be more frequent with pokemon and patches. the game feels much more alive now. worst was probably all the monetization changes and the long hiatus we had in the beginning of the year. Lets hope for a great 2025!

I was an avid Unite player, in Master rank every season. I stopped playing in December 2023. I watched this video looking to see if I should pick the game back up again after the serious frustration I had with EX pokémon. After watching and seeing the changes to membership and battle passes, as well as knowing how INSANELY priced skins are, I won't be coming back. Greed ruins everything unfortunately...
If Unite ends up not being on Switch anymore and becomes only available for mobile, unfortunately I will stop playing altogether. I can't play on the screen of my phone, without a controller. It's just horrible

I like pokemon. I also like the game.. when I have good team members. I play solo and last night I had a bad duo. One of them picked Deci after I chose Miraidon, which was a bad sign. They had no idea how the game works, and yes, we lost. It hit me a lot, and with all the frustration I got in the game in the past, my passion for Unite completely went away. It's sad but I won't play the game again. I still like watching people playing Unite, so I'll continue watching your content.
Pokemon Unite prepares no player for draft, I reached master some weeks ago for the first time and this game did not explain a single thing if I didnt know about it beforehand my first draft would have been pure stress,not even a pop up a reaching master for the first time explaining which buttons you have to press to not ban your own pokemon.
The fact that they do actually have a tutorial for it but it's hidden 💀 I remember people finding it by accident on release. You can looking at a draft map's info in the lobby.
While it has been fun to watch Unite develop over this last year, no denying that 2024 was rocky as all hell. I know for myself, I fell out of Unite around the summer, and while I did chime in from time to time, my time playing Unite dropped signifiantly last year. Hopefully 2025 will be better, but we need to see how things play out and if they plan on improving the game or not. If anything, one could hope that with the upcoming "console release," that could be a fun excuse to make the CN version available and expand the game out from where it stands, but I guess we'll see where things stand when we get there. Hopefully the game will improve but until we see how that will play out, I'll just keep following you for all the delightful things on Unite.

2024 left me in a generally sour spot for Unite. I think that while the Treasure Hunt lootboxes in general left a sore spot for the community in many ways (I'm more generally upset at the Prize Machine still existing), the worst Unite got for me personally were easily the questionable quality on each of the named patch notes. Yeah, they're consistently implemented, and you occasionally get decent changes like Armarouge's nerf to Fire Spin, but then you get something like Goodra's Move 2 CDR buffs, Cinderace's Defense/Sp. Defense stat buffs, or even the changes to Held Items made last month. Those changes did not their viability too much aside from maybe Assault Vest; it felt like they were put there just to make the changelog look like a wall of text, and to pad out the game until the Spring 2025 update.
I quit Unite because I got fed up with the matchmaking, I was there once again on an afternoon when it was just impossible for me to climb, I had a 59% WR among all seasons in ranked starting from season 1, after turning off the game for the day I thought: I know I can make all the points back and climb the next day but it was always the same story, sooner or later that day where the matchmaking decides that you have to lose no matter how good you do comes again and again and again, so I finally decided to quit, a couple of days after I heard that the devs will fix matchmaking (yet again) but I had 0 trust for the game and after this video popped on my recommended I saw that yeah.. I was right. I'm used to bad matchmaking on a daily bases but ever few days getting unwinnable games that frustrate me is just not fun, and if is not fun why bother? I did stop following all Unite content creators and deleted anything Unite related ... thankfully I still got Jake for Poket.
i dont really get always blaming the “op pokemon” for the game’s downfall. i see it more of- 2+ years after thea sky, the game hasn’t really progressed that much in terms of new and more technical stuff in the game. still not filling that hole of “theres nothing to do in this game besides ranked over and over again with the same quality and results of every game”. i mean i can only take that for so much- its not gonna keep me in the game where theres nothing to grind for
@ oh i dont mean you, i mean as more of a collective reasoning of the majority of the community (that i constantly see atleast) that always pins everything towards the releases and balance. i love every release broken or not, they are quite literally the only things new to the game
I had a game where I was Pikachu and my teammate who was supposed to come with me to top path was afk . I got the first two farm got third and fourth running but then saw Scyther and Wartortle I knew I would lose my farm. After they scored they tried to steal my farm but somehow I got all my farm and could not belive it but then the teammate is unable to play surrender vote came and we surrendered. No point 4 against 5. And other game where our Darkrai just left when he was farming and he was idle so long that farm KO-ed him.

Regarding the removal of Unite from NL and BE. When i created my account i selected my home country, NL, as the region for my account. I have since emigrated outside of either of this countries. Pokemon Unite support informed me that they can and will not change my region. I have to create a new account. They also will not port my stuff over. I own every pokemon. I’ve had every battle pass. I bought many skins, i have all my items upgraded. And now they will not even give me a refund for any of the things I have bought. For me the cherry on the cake is the Sylveon skin, i really wanted it. I was upgrading my chests by buying gems. I was so close to having enough tickets when the event just disappeared for me because i was visiting family in NL. Starting the next month my unite membership was cancelled and so was the ability to buy gems, so i can’t get the current (or future) battle pass anymore. This is such a letdown for people from Nl and BE and simply disrespectful to people who no longer live there and therefor are not bound to the gambling laws which would be in conflict with the new pricing modela inside Pokemon Unite.
Regarding the merging of the versions: the way i see it, switch 2 release just coincides way too well with a possible chinese full version release, and that would very easily open the door for a possible unite 2 on the better hardware (+ mobile of course)
As a player that's been around since the first week of Switch release, I have a lot of thoughts I feel like vomiting out in this comment lol. I think pretty much nothing can save the Global version of Unite anymore except for risky, massive changes mainly to Ranked, plus reinvigorated marketing, in-game promo events (akin to festive Pikachu for X amount of downloads), etc. to showcase said changes and tempt the people that jumped ship to board the "new ship". Better yet change the bad rep it has and attract fresh players. This is a shot at alleviating the regular player count issues too, which likely explains why some other problems exist - e.g. solos matching trios, mixed global Ranked ladder, crazy amount of bots in low elo, dead unranked modes, etc. However the main problem with Unite since release has always been the terrible Ranked mode. This playerbase is so hopeless that they can't reach Master rank without spamming matches... in a Ranked mode that's basically a participation award *that has been making it progressively easier to hit Master!* People with thousands of matches making noob mistakes and you can NEVER truly leave them behind because they'll eventually spam to Master. To be fair, the game basically teaches nothing so the average player can stay crap and never feel the need to improve because they can still climb. Yet now that the playerbase feels entitled to reaching Master because the game never established true skill divisions, they would NEVER accept a system that will deny them Master rank even though they're 47% win rate in Ultra after 60 games. We know these types of players, though not directly their fault, make Master a joke and is partly the reason why Master matchmaking changes won't make much of a difference, even if the point "bugs" got fixed. A change that relies on points that can be gained with negative win rates, yet theoretically anybody in that rank can match each other? LOL, it has no chance as it stands now. There's no way I'm gonna play 200 more games when I'm in 1400s with a 61% win rate. I've proved my mettle, why the hell do I have to play so many matches with real *creams of the crop* like that 500 current season games 41% Mimikyu spammer that can't land Shadow Sneak, lost a 1v1 against Braixen and spam pings their allies every time they die? I want to believe Unite can improve, since it has so much potential... but if a massive issue like the Ranked system doesn't get overhauled and if said overhauls don't inspire new/returning players to become regulars or for the more casual players to stick to unranked, Global Unite is fucked forever.
Im a new player in 2024 and pokemon unite quickly not only became one of my favorite mobas but favorite games in general. I’ve put so many hours and money into this game and I hope theres a big upswing
Just hoping they change Goodra enough to make him not feel absolutely terrible to play, honestly. I want him to feel more like a tank and not a very terrible all-rounder that most players can straight up ignore. I know the solution is just, "play a different tank" but I really like the Goopa. Nothing feels worse than your when your favorite pokemon feels bad to play in this game. I hope 2025 gives more love to already existing pokemon that could use the help, and that they maybe tone down the number of All-rounders that can do quite literally everything exceptionally well. Oh and buff Full heal if everything is gonna have an absurd amount of CC. Noticed they have been releasing more and more pokemon with built in unstoppable status or just straight up invulnerability in their kits. Playing a pokemon without those things feels like pulling teeth lately... for me at least.
I uninstalled around the release of Miraidon, so I really love how this video broke down everything I missed this past year. It also gave me a lot to chew on in regards to coming back. When Unite is fun, it's one of the most fun gaming experiences I've had in years, and I would love to have that again if I'm confident that it can deliver a consistently fun experience. I don't think I'm ready to give it another try yet, and I doubt 500 point mode would bring me back personally, but this video definitely made me think that a future where I reinstall Unite is possible.

Newcomer for Pokemon Unite... And still shredded people with a Decidueye (Decidueye plays get more kills than Miraidon and Delphox). Not even a Zeraora or a Garchomp can bypass the bullet hell that is Decidueye. I am yet to fight another Decidueye.
You play towards bots for the first matches. I also shredded everything whit Decidueye. I still like Decidueye but you will need more solo ranking pokemon if you’re ranking up solo. Teammates can be trash sometimes. And you also need to be very careful when playing Decidueye. When you start playing casual-pro matches. EVERYONE will target you cause you’e squishy as heck. Proceed whit caution
It is funny they keep putting out those questionnaires. I keep talking about the same issues and they still haven’t been fixed years later. Also draft needs to be implemented better because only one non master ranked player completely blocks it
2024 Unite teached me how truly painful is to watch something you love falling apart, being part of the Pokemon Unite comunity was a huge rollercoaster
One thing im sorta just confused with with games having different progress on their global and china release is; are the china and global team even communicating? Or why dont they just copy paste the entire china code right now and paste it into our game so both would be in the same state and could be balanced easier? Ik its probably not that easy as just copy pasting codes and models but it just feels like the global team is dying out while china is doing good. (Reminds of games that had a similar concept and now experience EOS aka tower of fantasy as an example)
Honestly not just Unite but the Switch itself both seemed to hit a lull in 2024. Limited releases and months of decreased activity overall compared to previous years. Now that CN Unite has launched and Switch 2/Pro & 500 point mode are most likely on their way soon(tm), I think this is the year where things finally start blooming and sparks really start flying 🙏🌟
problem with draft i think is the inability to type in team chat. many noobs dont know how to play draft (which pokemon to pick 1st or last), or they dont have inside information on which pokemon to ban (e.g., went up against a strong duo using the same gold badge pokemon duos in the prev few games & spotted them again in the loading screen but despite multiple ban req, the noobs wont ban their comfort picks & yes we got stomped on unnecessarily).

I'm taking a nice, long, healthy break from unite. I just need a lot of changes that the devs don't seem interesting in making. Until then, I'm going to stay away.
The nail in the coffin for me was the lack of love for my favorite pokemon, Goodra. It's been a whole year of it being one of, if not THE worst pokemon in the game and the only change it got was .5 seconds off of a single cooldown per match. They put it front and center on the cover art for that patch, too. Like .5 seconds off a single CD was a huge deal worthy of putting goodra up on display. My disappointment was immeasurable and my day was ruined. If the devs ever decide to make goodra at least not the worst pokemon in the game, I'll happily come back. So I'm probably not gonna be playing for a couple years.
The Best moments of Unite this year were the matches you cast over Jake! I really hope they don't shut down switch support. No matter how much I love this game, I dislike playing MOBAs on mobile far more, so that would spell the end of my pokemon unite days
This game would be great if it had different devs. Honestly, im ready for this gme to die. Tired of greed being the focus of everything. Unite wont get better because the devs only see it as a money maker
I'll come back for the 500 point mode but since Zacian release I've fallen out of love with the game. I try not to take it very serious. Lots of mons just aren't fun to play as (the ones that are easier to win on especially). Psyduck is fun but it was clearly not made for the game the rest of us are playing. Same with Darkrai. Comfey still needs a total rework. When the game released on switch I was so excited. I may just permanently migrate to Smite 2 and Rivals. Or, I'm likely to just check in on the game every few months.
Them lowkey abandoning the game for 8 months cause of the Chinese version and only releasing like 4 pokemon during that time left a really sour taste in my mouth tbh. I don't really care about prize machines, holowear and other stuff that much in the game, I'm just waiting for new pokemon releases and hoping they add one of my faves, so only getting 9 new pokemon in 2024 was disappointing to say the least lol. I think they'll start pumping up the game more seeing as since the release of the Chinese version they went back to releasing 1 mon per month (ish) and a new map this year might just bring it back to life.
Lots of ups and downs this year but the lows were eye opening in a bad way. The new game mode is not appealing at all and I believe it needs to be a hybrid of the two to open up more game winning conditions. I think Game Freak (casuals) and Mobas just don't mix and are causing problems because of monetization that can't end for the game to be profitable. Also don't beat around the bush. The matchmaking is atrocious now and I will not attempt to grind the game to climb the ladder until something good actually changes. Not sure how you can be optimistic. Even if there is a new game mode Timi has already developed a pattern of not listening or following through with worse results. I really enjoy this game but I just don't see a good future for it. 🤠
They need to be so much more aggressive with the balance patches. If I load the game after 2 weeks, get into a game and it's the same meta I don't want to play. I have a couple friends that quit around a year ago and I sometimes ask if they wanna play again, but then they ask me if anything has changed in the game and I just have to sigh and be like, "well Umbreon is still the most picked pokemon, Rayquaza is as game warping as it was when you left, darkrai and Psyduck are cool but they're effectively removed from the game because of draft and they nerfed Machamp. Soooo I guess we duo and you can play blissey? I know it's not the most exiting but hey supports are mandatory so..." You think anyone's gonna be like oh let's play this game when I tell them that?
Well, 2024 for me turned out to be the end of Unite. As a Dutch player, I will be kicked from the servers soon and already don't have access to some parts of the game. Unite became too much of a gacha/gambling simulator to even be legal in my country. Besides that; oppressive releases, STILL no new map, the skin gacha, shiny spray, issues with matchmaking, then matchmaking becoming even worse... I tried playing a few weeks ago, but I'm done. No use investing time in which I will lose everything in a few months (including money spent) anyway.

I like pokemon. I also like the game.. when I have good team members. I play solo and last night I had a bad duo. One of them picked Deci after I chose Miraidon, which was a bad sign. They had no idea how the game works, and yes, we lost. It hit me a lot, and with all the frustration I got in the game in the past, my passion for Unite completely went away. It's sad but I won't play the game again. I still like watching people playing Unite, so I'll continue watching your content.

Pokemon Unite prepares no player for draft, I reached master some weeks ago for the first time and this game did not explain a single thing if I didnt know about it beforehand my first draft would have been pure stress,not even a pop up a reaching master for the first time explaining which buttons you have to press to not ban your own pokemon.
The fact that they do actually have a tutorial for it but it's hidden 💀 I remember people finding it by accident on release. You can looking at a draft map's info in the lobby.
While it has been fun to watch Unite develop over this last year, no denying that 2024 was rocky as all hell.
I know for myself, I fell out of Unite around the summer, and while I did chime in from time to time, my time playing Unite dropped signifiantly last year. Hopefully 2025 will be better, but we need to see how things play out and if they plan on improving the game or not.
If anything, one could hope that with the upcoming "console release," that could be a fun excuse to make the CN version available and expand the game out from where it stands, but I guess we'll see where things stand when we get there. Hopefully the game will improve but until we see how that will play out, I'll just keep following you for all the delightful things on Unite.

2024 left me in a generally sour spot for Unite. I think that while the Treasure Hunt lootboxes in general left a sore spot for the community in many ways (I'm more generally upset at the Prize Machine still existing), the worst Unite got for me personally were easily the questionable quality on each of the named patch notes.
Yeah, they're consistently implemented, and you occasionally get decent changes like Armarouge's nerf to Fire Spin, but then you get something like Goodra's Move 2 CDR buffs, Cinderace's Defense/Sp. Defense stat buffs, or even the changes to Held Items made last month. Those changes did not their viability too much aside from maybe Assault Vest; it felt like they were put there just to make the changelog look like a wall of text, and to pad out the game until the Spring 2025 update.
I quit Unite because I got fed up with the matchmaking, I was there once again on an afternoon when it was just impossible for me to climb, I had a 59% WR among all seasons in ranked starting from season 1, after turning off the game for the day I thought: I know I can make all the points back and climb the next day but it was always the same story, sooner or later that day where the matchmaking decides that you have to lose no matter how good you do comes again and again and again, so I finally decided to quit, a couple of days after I heard that the devs will fix matchmaking (yet again) but I had 0 trust for the game and after this video popped on my recommended I saw that yeah.. I was right. I'm used to bad matchmaking on a daily bases but ever few days getting unwinnable games that frustrate me is just not fun, and if is not fun why bother?
I did stop following all Unite content creators and deleted anything Unite related ... thankfully I still got Jake for Poket.
Decrease of Unite's playerbase is also because everyone who uses ingame chat becomes permanently banned sooner or later.

i dont really get always blaming the “op pokemon” for the game’s downfall. i see it more of- 2+ years after thea sky, the game hasn’t really progressed that much in terms of new and more technical stuff in the game. still not filling that hole of “theres nothing to do in this game besides ranked over and over again with the same quality and results of every game”. i mean i can only take that for so much- its not gonna keep me in the game where theres nothing to grind for

I had a game where I was Pikachu and my teammate who was supposed to come with me to top path was afk . I got the first two farm got third and fourth running but then saw Scyther and Wartortle I knew I would lose my farm. After they scored they tried to steal my farm but somehow I got all my farm and could not belive it but then the teammate is unable to play surrender vote came and we surrendered. No point 4 against 5.
And other game where our Darkrai just left when he was farming and he was idle so long that farm KO-ed him.
I smile & then I cry looking back at all of this. Here's hoping to a better 2025! 🙏

Regarding the removal of Unite from NL and BE.
When i created my account i selected my home country, NL, as the region for my account.
I have since emigrated outside of either of this countries. Pokemon Unite support informed me that they can and will not change my region.
I have to create a new account.
They also will not port my stuff over.
I own every pokemon. I’ve had every battle pass. I bought many skins, i have all my items upgraded.
And now they will not even give me a refund for any of the things I have bought.
For me the cherry on the cake is the Sylveon skin, i really wanted it. I was upgrading my chests by buying gems. I was so close to having enough tickets when the event just disappeared for me because i was visiting family in NL.
Starting the next month my unite membership was cancelled and so was the ability to buy gems, so i can’t get the current (or future) battle pass anymore.
This is such a letdown for people from Nl and BE and simply disrespectful to people who no longer live there and therefor are not bound to the gambling laws which would be in conflict with the new pricing modela inside Pokemon Unite.
Regarding the merging of the versions: the way i see it, switch 2 release just coincides way too well with a possible chinese full version release, and that would very easily open the door for a possible unite 2 on the better hardware (+ mobile of course)

As a player that's been around since the first week of Switch release, I have a lot of thoughts I feel like vomiting out in this comment lol.
I think pretty much nothing can save the Global version of Unite anymore except for risky, massive changes mainly to Ranked, plus reinvigorated marketing, in-game promo events (akin to festive Pikachu for X amount of downloads), etc. to showcase said changes and tempt the people that jumped ship to board the "new ship". Better yet change the bad rep it has and attract fresh players.
This is a shot at alleviating the regular player count issues too, which likely explains why some other problems exist - e.g. solos matching trios, mixed global Ranked ladder, crazy amount of bots in low elo, dead unranked modes, etc.
However the main problem with Unite since release has always been the terrible Ranked mode. This playerbase is so hopeless that they can't reach Master rank without spamming matches... in a Ranked mode that's basically a participation award *that has been making it progressively easier to hit Master!* People with thousands of matches making noob mistakes and you can NEVER truly leave them behind because they'll eventually spam to Master.
To be fair, the game basically teaches nothing so the average player can stay crap and never feel the need to improve because they can still climb. Yet now that the playerbase feels entitled to reaching Master because the game never established true skill divisions, they would NEVER accept a system that will deny them Master rank even though they're 47% win rate in Ultra after 60 games.
We know these types of players, though not directly their fault, make Master a joke and is partly the reason why Master matchmaking changes won't make much of a difference, even if the point "bugs" got fixed. A change that relies on points that can be gained with negative win rates, yet theoretically anybody in that rank can match each other? LOL, it has no chance as it stands now.
There's no way I'm gonna play 200 more games when I'm in 1400s with a 61% win rate. I've proved my mettle, why the hell do I have to play so many matches with real *creams of the crop* like that 500 current season games 41% Mimikyu spammer that can't land Shadow Sneak, lost a 1v1 against Braixen and spam pings their allies every time they die?
I want to believe Unite can improve, since it has so much potential... but if a massive issue like the Ranked system doesn't get overhauled and if said overhauls don't inspire new/returning players to become regulars or for the more casual players to stick to unranked, Global Unite is fucked forever.
Im a new player in 2024 and pokemon unite quickly not only became one of my favorite mobas but favorite games in general. I’ve put so many hours and money into this game and I hope theres a big upswing
Just hoping they change Goodra enough to make him not feel absolutely terrible to play, honestly. I want him to feel more like a tank and not a very terrible all-rounder that most players can straight up ignore. I know the solution is just, "play a different tank" but I really like the Goopa. Nothing feels worse than your when your favorite pokemon feels bad to play in this game. I hope 2025 gives more love to already existing pokemon that could use the help, and that they maybe tone down the number of All-rounders that can do quite literally everything exceptionally well.
Oh and buff Full heal if everything is gonna have an absurd amount of CC. Noticed they have been releasing more and more pokemon with built in unstoppable status or just straight up invulnerability in their kits. Playing a pokemon without those things feels like pulling teeth lately... for me at least.

I uninstalled around the release of Miraidon, so I really love how this video broke down everything I missed this past year. It also gave me a lot to chew on in regards to coming back. When Unite is fun, it's one of the most fun gaming experiences I've had in years, and I would love to have that again if I'm confident that it can deliver a consistently fun experience. I don't think I'm ready to give it another try yet, and I doubt 500 point mode would bring me back personally, but this video definitely made me think that a future where I reinstall Unite is possible.

You play towards bots for the first matches. I also shredded everything whit Decidueye. I still like Decidueye but you will need more solo ranking pokemon if you’re ranking up solo. Teammates can be trash sometimes.
And you also need to be very careful when playing Decidueye. When you start playing casual-pro matches. EVERYONE will target you cause you’e squishy as heck. Proceed whit caution

One thing im sorta just confused with with games having different progress on their global and china release is; are the china and global team even communicating? Or why dont they just copy paste the entire china code right now and paste it into our game so both would be in the same state and could be balanced easier?
Ik its probably not that easy as just copy pasting codes and models but it just feels like the global team is dying out while china is doing good. (Reminds of games that had a similar concept and now experience EOS aka tower of fantasy as an example)
Honestly not just Unite but the Switch itself both seemed to hit a lull in 2024. Limited releases and months of decreased activity overall compared to previous years.
Now that CN Unite has launched and Switch 2/Pro & 500 point mode are most likely on their way soon(tm), I think this is the year where things finally start blooming and sparks really start flying 🙏🌟
problem with draft i think is the inability to type in team chat. many noobs dont know how to play draft (which pokemon to pick 1st or last), or they dont have inside information on which pokemon to ban (e.g., went up against a strong duo using the same gold badge pokemon duos in the prev few games & spotted them again in the loading screen but despite multiple ban req, the noobs wont ban their comfort picks & yes we got stomped on unnecessarily).

The nail in the coffin for me was the lack of love for my favorite pokemon, Goodra. It's been a whole year of it being one of, if not THE worst pokemon in the game and the only change it got was .5 seconds off of a single cooldown per match.
They put it front and center on the cover art for that patch, too. Like .5 seconds off a single CD was a huge deal worthy of putting goodra up on display. My disappointment was immeasurable and my day was ruined.
If the devs ever decide to make goodra at least not the worst pokemon in the game, I'll happily come back. So I'm probably not gonna be playing for a couple years.

I'll come back for the 500 point mode but since Zacian release I've fallen out of love with the game. I try not to take it very serious. Lots of mons just aren't fun to play as (the ones that are easier to win on especially).
Psyduck is fun but it was clearly not made for the game the rest of us are playing. Same with Darkrai. Comfey still needs a total rework.
When the game released on switch I was so excited. I may just permanently migrate to Smite 2 and Rivals. Or, I'm likely to just check in on the game every few months.

Honestly I'd describe the year as low lows and low highs.
Them lowkey abandoning the game for 8 months cause of the Chinese version and only releasing like 4 pokemon during that time left a really sour taste in my mouth tbh. I don't really care about prize machines, holowear and other stuff that much in the game, I'm just waiting for new pokemon releases and hoping they add one of my faves, so only getting 9 new pokemon in 2024 was disappointing to say the least lol. I think they'll start pumping up the game more seeing as since the release of the Chinese version they went back to releasing 1 mon per month (ish) and a new map this year might just bring it back to life.

Lots of ups and downs this year but the lows were eye opening in a bad way. The new game mode is not appealing at all and I believe it needs to be a hybrid of the two to open up more game winning conditions. I think Game Freak (casuals) and Mobas just don't mix and are causing problems because of monetization that can't end for the game to be profitable. Also don't beat around the bush. The matchmaking is atrocious now and I will not attempt to grind the game to climb the ladder until something good actually changes. Not sure how you can be optimistic. Even if there is a new game mode Timi has already developed a pattern of not listening or following through with worse results. I really enjoy this game but I just don't see a good future for it. 🤠
My issue is the players and match making. At least half of my games will have someone trolling or afk. It's ridiculous.

They need to be so much more aggressive with the balance patches. If I load the game after 2 weeks, get into a game and it's the same meta I don't want to play. I have a couple friends that quit around a year ago and I sometimes ask if they wanna play again, but then they ask me if anything has changed in the game and I just have to sigh and be like, "well Umbreon is still the most picked pokemon, Rayquaza is as game warping as it was when you left, darkrai and Psyduck are cool but they're effectively removed from the game because of draft and they nerfed Machamp. Soooo I guess we duo and you can play blissey? I know it's not the most exiting but hey supports are mandatory so..."

Well, 2024 for me turned out to be the end of Unite. As a Dutch player, I will be kicked from the servers soon and already don't have access to some parts of the game. Unite became too much of a gacha/gambling simulator to even be legal in my country.
Besides that; oppressive releases, STILL no new map, the skin gacha, shiny spray, issues with matchmaking, then matchmaking becoming even worse... I tried playing a few weeks ago, but I'm done. No use investing time in which I will lose everything in a few months (including money spent) anyway.
