  • This Resolume Arena 4 & 5 and Avenue 4 tutorial will show you how to create an improvisational, expressive, live visual performance using one-shot visuals and piano mode effects. One-shots are short clips or loops that can be triggered on the fly as quick visual hits or bursts.
    You will learn how to setup your composition for this performance style, map visuals to your computer keyboard or MIDI controller, and use Piano mode to toggle multiple effects on the fly along with your visuals.
    We have one-shot visuals for download on our website along with all the visuals & video clips showed in this tutorial. All visuals are ready-made for Resolume.

    Do you know if it's possible in CoGe to trigger fx and clips in piano style?

    • @DocOptic
      @DocOptic  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! And yes there is. In CoGe it's called "Momentary Key Mode" which is equivalent to "Piano Mode" in Resolume. Cheers.

    Greetings Doc, thank you very much indeed. You guys are great,very time! I have one question regarding this tut:
    If u set the V fader (opacity) just close to the middle in the scale, how could you keep seeing the first layer with 100% opacity? I am testing it out and I can't achieve...what am I doing wrong? Thank you once again!

    Thanks, Doc, a great tutorial. The one shots add a nice dynamic to the set I'm building. My only problem is how do I make sure that the one shot that I trigger is the only one that plays? I set up my one shot clips the qwerty way like yours but after it plays the one I want it also plays the ones that follow even though my Trans slider is right down. Is there another setting I've missed?

    • @DocOptic
      @DocOptic  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      You have each one set to play once, correct? If so, you should be able to trigger your next visual right away. i can only guess that some of the one shots you are using have not been set to play once and might possibly on another playback mode in the transport tab.

  • @bergg2009

    You make it look simple enough :)
    Speaking of treating R. as an instrument... Would mapping to an actual midi keyboard / controller work? And in that case can the clips be auto mapped e.g. dropping 12 clips could be automatically triggered from C1-C2 on the keyboard or other midi controller.
    And another question: I understand that it is a live VJ software, but can I actually record the performance, so I can then export it and align in video editing software with the intended audio track. In this case the exported / recorded video bpm should be according to the audio track's bpm.

    • @DocOptic
      @DocOptic  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Bergg Uscha Yes, you should be able to do this using the record function from Resolume itself, or if you're on a Mac check out Syphon Recorder or something similar. Cheers!

    • @DocOptic
      @DocOptic  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Bergg Uscha Sorry forgot to reply to your first question, yes mapping to a MIDI Keyboard/Controller works great. You can assign multiple keys/buttons as well to achieve what you're trying to do.

    • @bergg2009
      @bergg2009 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      So, no auto mapping? oh well. Nevertheless the rest sounds awesome. tnx for the infos.

    if I hold an assigned piano key for more than a minute (like 1 in your example) I get like a Mac error sound that repeats really fast. is this normal? i checked off piano in the left corner

  • @jmk131972
    @jmk131972 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    The piano option does not display for me when trying to assign a keyboard shortcut to layer effects bypass toggle. :( Only the stop and remove all options are there. Is there another way to assign the piano setting to a keyboard shortcut? Great tutorial btw!

    • @DocOptic
      @DocOptic  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Make sure to assign the Key you would like to use as a shortcut first. The Piano checkbox should then show up. Hope that works!

      Hmm...no luck unfortunately...strange. I am following the video as closely as i can, but I must be missing something. Oh well, I will keep playing around. Thank you for the reply.

      Haha figured it out! All my layers were dragged down all the way in the window. The piano option was there it just wasn't visible. Dragged the layers panel up a bit and BOOM, there it was :)
