I am in Resolume Arena 6 and this isn't working-I follow the tutorial exactly and when I put the 2nd layer router (called a video router in Arena 6) on layer 5 and select layer 3 it either shows only layer 4 or layers 1+2....I'm thinking it's something to do with changing the layer 3 blending mode but I'm not sure. I only have 1 blending mode option in my right panel (this video has 3: Alpha-Lit-LIA) and i don't know if I can change my composition to that. Thanks!
Hi, there is a new feature in Resolume 6 that does this automatically. If you right-click on a layer and choose Mask Mode, you can then mask the layers below. The layer that is using Mask Mode can be at 100% opacity and the content below it will be shown through the mask. Regarding the blend modes, in Resolume 6 only one is displayed at a time. Simply click on the blending mode name on the layer to change it. The technique in the tutorial only works for Resolume 4 & 5.
when i add the mask overlay on layer 5 and set input to layer 3, I lose all visual of layer 4, even when its opacity is at max. in Resolume 5 I don't have 'composition' as an input to select, maybe that's why? I just have layer 1-5, preview, and 'layers below'
Does the content on your layer 2 (assuming it is black and white) have an alpha channel or the Auto Mask effect applied to it? That should do the trick. In Resolume Arena 5, "Layers Below" functions the same as "Composition." Thanks for pointing that out, we've added an annotation for Resolume 5 users.
how did you get it to show all the layers without having to scroll up and down? when i make the properties area bigger the layers dont fit to scale but disappear and it is rather annoying having to scroll up and down on the clipboard all the time. cheers

I've tried this and for some reason my background shows through a bit into the foreground. Any idea why?
figured out I needed to have the bottom layer as add rather than alpha otherwise it all mushed together.
