@@TheBroadcastEngineer yup you are correct they work as automatic ditch lights. To illuminate where you’re turning in low light conditions. I love mine off road it works great.
I started watching at Episode 4... I car/truck camped for vacations for years in 2,000 to 3,000 mile loops in the Pacific Northwest... Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming... different routes and different themes... started out in a 1980 Honda Civic until about 1996 when I got a Ford truck and added a canopy and Yakima roof top carriers (one was off the Honda)... added a couple bunks and camping gear over time until about 2011... the Ford I still have ('69 F250) ... currently playing with some add-ons, like power station with solar panels... fridge/freezer I am testing at home outside now... solar cookers... fixed chicken thighs and brownies today...I tend to have tarps I can add for shade... Ashland Oregon camp ground can get hot while waiting to do Shakespeare plays...everything had to be set up for ease of set up/take down and re-setting up after the plays in the dark... Some of my toys... Goal Zero 1500x and 500x...I am leaning toward my Nomad panels for ease of setting up my portable solar farm... added a Nomad 100, a 20, and another Nomad 50 panel... Pacific Northwest... overcast takes a few more panels... in connectable Goal Zero Nomad panels i now have 4 (50 watt), 1 (100 watt), a new 20 watt and an older 28 watt Nomad for a total of 348 watts that I can hook to the 1500x power station... had to order the connectors from Goal Zero... not real cheap to get but they make networking panels easier... been using the 500x power station with the 100 and 20 watt panels... And I have left them out in rain, watched them in overcast weather. the weather proof power connections are a really good idea. I am a bit curious about your power source in the desert during your trip... powering fridge, cameras, laptops or tablets and phones... with enough solar panels for your 1500x power station... a few hours of clear sky sun might do the trick depending on how big you make your solar panel array.
Love this calm, thoughtful host - nice contrast to all the Miranda vids I watch, who I also love! 😁 Bummed about that yakima rear rack, as are a lot of folks in your Q&A when you featured it recently; they should have made it reversible for those of us who prefer it to swing left and more clearance for spare tire 🙁
I’m selling my two seater Porsche that I’ve barely driven At all now I have a family and buying my first pickup. This is exactly what I want to do with it. I can’t wait to go camping in it.
REI: Let's do a video on the ultimate outdoor vehicle.
Miranda: Does VincentVanGo mean nothing to you?
The installation tips are useful!
I hope Ford wrote a big check to the coop for this with no stipulations as to what it would be spent on.
As well as Yakima

You don't say what the cross bars are. Are they Yakima? Which model, size, etc... Thank you.
Loved this video. So well produced - can’t wait to see the next episode!
Why is there not a gear list in the description? I mean this is a store that sells this stuff. Seriously.
This will be great to follow along with the episodes. By the way you have a fog light out on the Bronco (11:08).
I think the fog lights automatically turn on based on which direction you turn the steering wheel.
@@TheBroadcastEngineer I did not know this. These kids and their fancy cars!
@@obstoutdoors6558 I drive off road in mountain dirt roads sometimes at night for work. I would love to have that feature.

Will REI sell the Yakima Equipment, Dometic Cooler, Goal Zero battery pack, Ford Bronco Sport as “Used Gear?” If so I am in!
Super jazzed for this series!
I love my bronco sport!
I KNOW THAT GUY!!!
This is sweet
Awesome! Dr Len!

Looking forward to this series!! ❤️
Gonna say yall were pretty fast at the conversion. Most people havent seen on in person and yall have done made it a camper
*cries in where is miranda
Did you need to carry extra fuel or did you have the range to make it to a gas station throughout the journey?
What car doesn’t go over 200 miles on one tank?
Google is your friend. The Bronco gets 380 miles per tank with highway driving, so it’s a pretty safe bet it can do >200 on a gravel road.
Been thinking about getting all the same setup. Did the roof antenna ever interfere with putting the tent on or when taking it off?
Boop! Great piece! Woooh!
Why the sport Vs the other models?
What are the insulated rectangular bags that you’re using?
They are REI gear. Check out there site!
Top quality video!
What is this song?
Love the rig!!!!!

REI is a terrible source for car/SUV/truck reviews and insights. Check out Wes Siler’s relevant articles in Outside magazine
Can you share who made the awning. Love how simple it is
That is the Yakima Slim Shady.
Sarah Swallows?? Hmmmm smh. Lol. Even she had to laugh. Y’all know you were thinking it, I just said it, out loud!❤️❤️
I’m reading the comments in search of his and I was like.... did no one catch that? Am I going to be the one to point that out? Ha,ha,ha!
0:47 bikes akimbo?
I'm in! Looking forward to the next episode! 👍
A great idea and team, but did it need to revolve around an REI paid promo for a non-hybrid non-PHEV SUV?
Name: Sarah Swallow
Guy: Sarah swallows 😅😅
I need a new Honda Element x Patagonia, stat!
This isn’t a Miranda video...?
Opening scene he questions why he doing this adventure... get someone who is excited to do this like me or I am sure thousands of others
Don’t be jelly felly
All their names sound fake
The Sky Island Odyssey just sounds like the Gambler 500 but less awesome.
I'm so sorry. Still hung up on his comment at 1:32..."sarah swallows...." So sorry.. my Arrested Development age is 12...
Silly REI. If it’s not Miranda, we don’t care
You don't need $100,000 in gear to get outdoors.
and you sure don't need a gas-guzzler. Real outdoorsey folks drive EVs to preserve the outdoors, not trash it.
Yes you do. Every hike is at least 5 grand.
By taking the Bronco, they are going to have to send in a Toyota to bring everyone back
Damn straight 👍
Well that’s an unfortunate name.
Hail satan

Is this to spite the other commenters
All hail Beelzebub!

Sarah you diry girl.
