Feminine Etiquette & Refinement! Part 1 (Basics & Presentation) | The Feminine Universe

  • We know that in life, sometimes, you only get one chance to make a first impression. And as highly feminine women we want that impression to be impeccable.
    As we all head back out into the world and maybe begin socializing quite a bit more than we have in a while, I figured now’s a good a time as any to talk about some basic etiquette.
    We’ll do a refresher on our basic manners and go over the importance of our presentation.
    Remember to check out the blog for extra content, reviews and giveaways that aren’t on TH-cam!

    I loved the Emily Post and Amy Vanderbilt etiquette books when I was in junior high! I continued to check the two books out from the local library throughout high school and college! No matter how I was struggling, I managed to read and study class, sophistication and etiquette! It’s perfectly okay to be refined and sophisticated ladies!!! Do your best to impress! 💖💝❤️🎀💞💕

    I certainly resonate with family members coming over to the UK and thinking it’s perfectly normal to comment on weight and to expect you not to be offended by it as it’s acceptable “back home”. It’s mainly the older generation who do it and to be honest I wouldn’t really know how to let them know it’s not ok without coming across as though I was being rude to my elders but I do think it’s something which needs addressing and this is a good reminder to us all to adapt to the country we are in or visiting and learning the customs. This isn’t to say we shouldn’t be able to express our opinions but it’s certainly a prompt to know when, where and why because a lot of the time, there really is no need for a lot of these things go be said and they can be hurtful and/or offensive to others, even though that this not the way the person saying it intended it to be.

    • @TheFeminineUniverse
      @TheFeminineUniverse  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yes! This is such a fair point. That's exactly why I added that example. Because we are aware it is culturally acceptable where they come from, and no actual harm is meant but it is offensive, nonetheless. I had this talk with a mom and some aunties about a year ago. It led to a wonderful conversation. Weight ebbs and flows for many women, we age; those are all facts of life, but we don't need every pound, wrinkle or gray hair pointed out. And you're right, as individuals, we must make every effort to adapt when we are interacting with others and visiting different places.

    I love how you make the point that etiquette shows respect for the people around you. We have become such a selfish society and forget to think about others and try to make them more comfortable. We’d all be a lot happier if we thought more about the people around us instead of ourselves 😊

    • @TheFeminineUniverse
      @TheFeminineUniverse  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well said! Unfortunately, a lack of respect and kindness in the little things tends to trickle over into bigger things as well. It's so important that we all do our little part to think of those around us and make life more pleasant and enjoyable 💕

    It drives me insane when I don’t hear people say please, thank you or excuse me. So many people have no manners now and days. You should look into teach young girls in person about this. I am a RN and in two years I will go back to school to become an educator for nursing, but I also want to teach about manners. They use to have classes for that years ago in the 40s.

    • @TheFeminineUniverse
      @TheFeminineUniverse  2 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      I have to say lack of manners grinds my gears a bit, as well. It's such a free and easy way to show respect for fellow humans.
      It sounds like you love teaching. More courses on manners would be a great addition to this world! It's rarer, but people are definitely, still interested in taking etiquette courses. Prior to the pandemic The Plaza Hotel was offering a weekend etiquette program for a pretty penny, so don't be discouraged!

    Hello! I recently found your channel, and love it. 💕
    I just have a question, though it seems silly to ask, but my question is this... I have tattoos; Can I still be seen as classy, feminine, and put together? I’m well mannered (my grandmother made sure of it 😉), and I love to dress up, take care of myself, and feel beautiful... however I do have tattoos on my arms... even though they are feminine, well placed, and very well done( roses, small butterflies, etc.), I just worry that, in certain situations, no matter how beautiful, classy, well mannered, or put together I am, people will look down on me as being trashy or classless because of this, even though I absolutely love them.
    Anyways, sorry for the such the long comment, I just would really love to know your view on this topic.
    Thank you for all of your wonderful advice on these topics!!!

    • @TheFeminineUniverse
      @TheFeminineUniverse  2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Welcome, Jennifer! Happy to have you here! Not at all, feel free to always ask me anything. And I'll always do my best to keep it real with you.
      Honestly, the best way I can think to answer is by saying; if someone told me they really wanted to start their journey and enhance their femininity, getting tattoos would not be on the list of things I recommend. Being that you already have them, and YOU love them I would say live your best life and be feminine in every way that you can; being receptive, strategic, kind, well mannered, well dressed, etc.
      As you said, you are aware there are people in certain environments and social classes that will judge but there are also many who won't. If your concerned about it in more formal settings, wear something that covers or minimally exposes them. If you're not concerned about it, live your life and do as you please! 😊💕

    Yes, I agree. People do not use please, thank you, would you, could you.. I was so shocked that when I came to California where people say, "I need." That was so weird to me. I am from the East coast and it was shocking to hear, "I need a this or a that." I would gasp. I had never heard that kind of language. 27 years on the West coast and I have never used "I need." I might say, "I need to think about this for a minute."

    In the Caribbean, you can’t just say I’ll have this please. YOU HAVE TO SAY GOOD DAY OR AFTERNOON/EVENING FIRST. So even you were less polite than you thought 😊

      Haha! I was speaking from the standpoint of living in the United States. But I will remember this when I'm on vacation in the Caribbean 😉

    I remember these two idiots who didn’t hear me when I said “excuse me” so they thought I just pushed past them. They ended getting all petty with me🤦🏽‍♀️

    Please give your etiquette on someone in your dining group REMINDING the table to tip the wait staff when you are being served at a fine dining establishment, breakfast buffet or transported to an activity location by van, bus or car.I feel pressed when people in the group ANNOUNCE to everyone please tip . We all already know to tip & personally some my feel a tip is not warrant at a buffet or based on the service they did not receive

    As a 20 year old black woman, I have decided to stop acting like a hood rat and actually clean up my act. I want to be a lady, I’m from the south and I love being a good ole southern belle when I dress up nicely. I’m just country as all get out and my manners put me in the “she don’t know any better” category and I don’t like that. I want to be good the southern belle at everyone just loves being around. ❤❤

    Why our black feminine women with braids are never highlighted in those type of videos... 😪

      Not sure if this is the first video you've seen on this channel, love. The cover/thumbnail of my Feminine Benefits video is a woman with braids. There are tons of natural hair styles in many of my videos. Take a closer look😉

    Byron Tully said in one of his books “Old Money, New Women” speaking on dressing (I love his books and recommend them); When in doubt lean to the conservative side.😊🤍✨
