They really maintained the house and kept it very clean. The cleanest house I've seen this far. Only cosmetic changes were necessary. I'm happy for the couple.
I cannot believe they got rid of that dining room light. It was an antique that went so well with the stained glass window and details of the house. I yelped when I saw what replaced it.
I never tire of Sophie and the spruce-ups she does to get the house in "sellable" condition. I keep watching them, hoping to get motivated to spruce up my own home a bit (although not planning on selling, it needs updating). So far, it hasn't happened, but hope springs eternal in the human heart!
It has happened on my end. This show has motivated me to complete a few unfinished touches. Not that I'm selling, I just want to live better.
Anthony and Sofie are a terrific team and enjoyable to watch.
Glad you like the show!
nice, id turn the dining room table the other way, to make the room look bigger
finally a home that is clean tidy and uncluttered! also well maintained. too bad it didn't sell. I think the only thing that needed upgrading was the kitchen....why do they never show bathrooms in this series?
This is the best house I’ve ever seen on this show I’m shocked it hasn’t sold short of a tiny bit of decor needed. Tiny kitchen is an issue for sure
I agree the kitchen is a small cramped space
Kitchens are overrated and overbuilt these days. I own a 3 bdrm house and find a kitchen that size completely adequate. I took out half my kitchen cabinets...it’s not like anyone needs a large space for canning, etc any more.
@@carols1030 were do you store your food and dishes then?
@Amanda H. Store my dishes in the remain8ng lower cabinets. Only took out the uppers
@@carols1030 I can a lot of food. You don't need a big space to do it but it sure makes it easier.
I know lots of people who home can, dehydrate and freeze food.
I’d love to know how many of these houses actually sold after Sophie has changed them. I’ve watched many of them and Sophie contradicts herself all the time. Clearly the kitchen is the reason for this house.
It is. The countertops are the worst!
Sofie always puts curtains in. They're not necessary. In fact, curtains and blinds are many times taken out--or at least completely opened up--to let in more light. Bright, sunny rooms help sell a home.
Plus, her curtains always look cheap.
The tile backsplash in the kitchen is poorly done.
Agreed
Most shows also forget to iron the curtains so they don't look so cheap. Add a chain to weigh them down at the bottom and they'll look like they're made of a much more expensive fabric.
I do not like the dining room furniture. They could have kept the old set with a table runner.
Hate the white dining room table. It interferes with the flow of colour through to the rear.
The bedroom became great ...
👍I liked the change ... Greetings from Sweden
For once I hated the comparable house!! Their home the way it was with maybe a bit more decor was so much better, imo. I always feel that if the comparable house was the house she needed to “fix” she would pick it apart, too!!!
The house showed well before the redo, it was the kitchen that was a problem., it needed a complete remodel so the selling price needed to reflect that. Problem solved. (BTW the over sized dining room table didn't do them any favors).
Replacing the old kitchen hutch with the same size?!?! Still, it didn’t address the lack of prep space. But I think the house is still overpriced!
It's Toronto, 13 years ago. That same house would be well over 1 million now.
Love this! Sophie has a great personality and she and Anthony make a great team.
We are glad you like the show! thanks for watching
Struggling to like the dining room makeover
I gave up trying to like the dining room. Cold and unappealing. Those plastic chairs belong in a school cafeteria. I liked the master with the added storage.
I liked the addition of the new light fixture and the "wine bar." The new table and slim mod style chairs fit the space better than the clunking looking former table and chairs. What's needed is a couple of splashes of color on the walls in some art canvases. Those silvery thingies are too small, they have zero impact and add no color at all to the space.
I loved the first DR table and chairs. They were perfect for the home. I’d have picked up the red in the stained glass window; added some transitional feeling artwork; area rug; set coordinating colors on the table linens-not too muchArtwork’ recover any fabric seats, with an accent for the window. That small sun porch was lovely, a perfect place for morning coffee, afternoon reading or playing cards in the evening. It could have set the cozy mood for all the house. I wonder where the source the new furniture they use in the show.
It looks like a student's apartment that's furnished with garage sale cast-offs.
The table used did not seem the best or even third best that she could have chosen
When couples are anxious to sell their house because they have already bought another house, it would be interesting to see the new house they purchased.
WHY WHY WHY do they put those bin pulls on vertically?? They are meant for drawers only. Such a lost opportunity to improve the clunky kitchen .
This house is perfectly fine before its just the kitchen is cramped, small and dated.
I'm not buying it. Their original price was $30,000 too high. Then the team spent $4,400 on a make over, and they still didn't achieve the amended asking price. I like the new cabinets and tile in the kitchen, but she kept saying that it added prep space. How? It's narrower than the old hutch, which makes the space feel more roomy. But I wouldn't want to work on a one foot wide counter.. I'm not sure that part of the make-over was worth the effort. Plus, they never talk about parking. I understand there's little one can do if there's not much parking in the area. But it's a BIG thing for buyers, and needs to be overcome if it's a draw-back. It's something this show never mentions. But it has been a big consideration whenever I've considered buying a house. I've passed on many because of it.
I didn’t like the dining room table but I love everything else
why is there a wall between the sink and the stove I would never buy a house with a kitchen like this
The stoves create heat as does the electric refrigerator, likely, they were originally in a tiny, separate room, with windows and a rear door entrance. No A/C when this house was built. There may even be a brick wall between the hot area and the sink/house area for fire prevention. The sink area was for prep and storage of cookware.
The inside is smaller than the outside
I think it may be that itsy bitsy sun room. If they could have taken out the wall and added that space to the kitchen?
The master bedroom is my favorite room. 🙂❤
This show originally aired at least 10 years ago? Wondering about Toronto property values in this neighborhood today.
This house is probably a million dollars by now.
Canadia is really expensive!
@@HosCreates Not all of it. Toronto is one of the most expensive cities here.
✨💖✨Interruption here for an important announcement: OMG, Sofie, please take me clothes shopping. Back to our feature... 🙃
I like this, except for those awful melamine kitchen countertops, and that ultra-modern dining table is so out of place in that style house. The original table was much better. But the house sold, so I guess they did the right things.
So amazing
Usually the colors are too wild or the house is too overdone so this is different!
Don't like what they did to the dining room but the master looks good. Unfortunately that kitchen is too small.
Light fixtures in dining room and master bedroom look identical....
Probably a budget issue.
More counter space? Hardly. I do enjoy unsellables but very disappointed with this one
I'm not sure about this one. The before was more appealing to me. But maybe this is an old episode, and 'old' design is coming back into fashion? Still, I would've put more colour and plants in.
Hideous makeover. Modern in a vintage style home. The master bedroom looks better, but on the whole, makeover doesnt match the the exterior and interior vintage features.
yeah wasn't a fan of the cheap changes this time, but they got a sale, at least.
Is the comparable house one they already madeover?
That’s a good question. My husband is lukewarm about this show, because they don’t always say if the house sold; how long it took to sell it; , or if the owners got their asking price. In this episode they did, but the info is sometimes missing. We aren’t trying to sell, but I almost always like Anthony’s practical solutions. Okay, and Sofie wears some amazing clothes. 🙃.
Ewww..those tacky looking dining room curtains!
She could do with less nasty comments on peoples homes. If they were perfect she would not have a show. You can see the homeowners cringing. Please be nice
In minute 5:15, I heard Indonesian-style cupboard? Am I Listening correctly?
I know right?! Its not Indonesian at ALL
👏👍😊
Don't like this one.
Not so sure about this one
Don't like black and white checker board kitchen floor. I am surprised they didn't change it.
You are "stuck" with two houses? Most people don't even have one. There are millions of people out there on the streets in the United States right now, living under tarps taped between stolen shopping carts.....
It’s not like owning a house doesn’t cost money. So yes, being stuck with two houses and two mortgages!
