For anyone who is reading these comments, I just did my OFHG Saturday. I didn't drain any coolant or remove the auxiliary radiator fan. Didnt remove the top coolant hose either and was able to get it off pretty easily. Did have to back off the manifold, but that was cake. What made it easy for me was that I already had replaced the plastic coolant hose fitting that is blocking the bottom front housing bolt at the front of the engine block. Get one of those aluminum replacements for that hose and you can take it on and off whenever you need to without half of it breaking off into the block. I didnt remove the oil filter either. I did that today and changed my oil. Also, make sure you have a wobbly socket and different length ratchet extensions. I would have been dead getting off lower housing bolts and oil cooler lines without those! Maybe an hour and a half job if I do it again later.
Best oil filter housing and intake gaskets change I've seen so far, no need to remove the radiator fan. Thanks. I'm doing mines using this step by step video, I'll let you know how it goes, lol. Hopefully I can reach out to you if I have a question.
take the front of oil filter off first for easy access to bottom bolt, also there is enough room to just slide intake manifold back slightly to get hidden bolt, also no need to remove water hose for quick change but good work
An aftermarket short ram intake pipe retrofitted as a charge pipe. Smart.. Did That BOV fit right onto the MAF sensor port or did you have to do make any adjustments?
People exaggerated this job so much. I think you were the best one that showed this properly & thoroughly. Just a question idk if I caught it in the video but what size torx did you use for all the bolts? That & is there a video of you replacing the oil cooler gasket?
From what I’ve seen you do need to change the bolts because they are aluminum. When you buy a kit from fcp euro they come with all the needed hardware. Just bought the kit for my e92 and should be here in a couple days.
@@nathanross963 Correct, you are supposed to replace the oil filter housing bolts when you do this job because they're 1-time use aluminum TTY bolts. If you don't replace them, they can't properly hold the appropriate torque.
Is there any way you can send a complete list of tools needed to get the job done? I need to do this job and replace my valve cover gasket. Pretty much already going there just to do this job.
@@ECPP Thanks! Some people were saying you needed to drain all the oil and coolant. I just changed my oil a week ago and my coolant 2 weeks ago and didn’t want to redo it. Great video!!!

Torque spec on the oil filter housing bolts is 22 Nm (~195 in. lb.). Kind of an important thing to know to prevent under or overtightening.
Thanks

Awesome, thanks for watching and sure reach out but I tried to be quite detailed in this video. Good luck ad just take your time it will work.
Surely one of the best video regarding this topic. With a lot of details. Thanks a lot👍

do mine in about a hr
@ynoyellow4829 Going to do mine at 152k miles now. Paid a BMW tech $400 last time.
I did the same on my 535xi plus the valve cover replacement anolng with the spark plugs & vacuum lines, no wonder ,it had 183k miles .
I love this guy....true bimmer head
Thanks a lot for watching and the great comment. When you own one of these cars, you really do need to learn how to fix these things. Lol
Great video! So it sounds like, if you want to get a gander at your valves, you just need to unhook some air hoses?
Know that job well, great video Mark
Thanks a lot. Much appreciated.
This was such an amazing and detailed video. Thank you so much!
You're so welcome!
Great video! Hey what air box is that?
Let me check

Did you change the oil cooler gasket?
For some reason I thought you had to use new bolts for reassembly. Love your videos. I've been shopping for a 335i coupe so much tuneability.
Thanks a lot for watching, if you can do a bit of wrenching , these are great cars

Do u have a video of oil cooler gasket?
Yes
@@ECPP I can’t find it
U forgot to take a look at if ur valves need a cleaning 😁, I was curious to see how bad it was at the milage ur at.
Apparently they were done by PO recently before me buying car.
great work!
Thanks a lot, quite detailed and it should help anyone who is trying to tackle this job.

What do you do about the coolant you lost? Is it just negligible? Does the system need burping now?
Yes if you lose a significant amount then there may be a need to te bleed the system
Do you need to drain the oil and coolant for this job?
No not entirely but a little of both is lost so some top up is required for both and bleed the cooling system after.

Does the fan need to come out to replace serpentine belt ?
yeah, there is literally no space even with the fan out, so yeah it needs to come off
Awesome video thank you
What was the torque for the 13mm bolt holding on the oil cooler lines
any product id numbers for the big ring and tiny ring of the cap and the filter itself? , im searching for them.
Was this your leaking problem?
And...que the plastic clips disintegrating in your hands? Hopefully, those are easily replaced as well.
Generally things hold up but yes, there always seems to be something coming apart at the seams
What is the torque foot pounds on the 3 bolts of the OFH?
OFHG bolts: 22nm, OFH Cooler bolts: 19nm, Intake bolts: 15nm
How much did you charge for that job ??? 😅😁
No charge as it was my car. Parts were cheap at around 100 bucks for all gaskets
@@ECPP yeah easy but alot of work 🤐🤐🤐
that sensor broke on mine too,
Thanks for sharing
Lol, that is not a big job and also..just the correct tools!
Wow , SSSSo Many PLASTIC PARTS
Absolutely
Plastic = weight saving = greater power to weight ratio. Too many gurlie men complaining about turning a wench. Sad times.
This junk , this piece of crap !!!!love it!!!
