The fact that Fabiano plays so well yet failed to beat Magnus shows how strong Magnus is . I'm not a fan of Magnus but I really think that someone really needs to think out of the box to beat Magnus . Fabi usually plays theory like a machine and he did that in 2018 vs Magnus again and again until Magnus held his own and struck . There was recently a game where Mamedyarov shocked Magnus and destroyed him with some weird manoeuvre and this is also one of the reasons why Nepo is leading vs Magnus one on one .

In a few years, geniuses like Alireza will overtake him, but now i would consider him harder to beat the Magnus, (but harder to lose as well). Both him and Anish are playing very defensevly, and with the preparation, knowladge and experience they have, its really really hard to break that.

I honestly pause the video every time when it's time to pick the best move. I am just learning how to play chess, and my favorite is trying to figure out problems (though I've heard that is not the best way to practice chess because most positions won't appear in a real game). However in my defense, for someone who has very little experience, it allows me to think in a different way, as far as an approach that I normally wouldn't that I think is very beneficial and even if it's not the same position in a regular game, I will be able figure out a better move when otherwise I'd be blind to other posibilities.
That being said, whenever I get the right answer for a correct move in any agadmator's challenge, which doesn't happen often (however, I managed to be successful this time) it honestly feels so good.
Agad, if you read this, you have a great way of explaining the game and I was wondering if you ever considered making a type of educational/tutorial/training video? Such as common openings, common attacks, common defense, types of strategies. I think it would made a great series, and hopefully I am not the only one who thinks this, but I'd watch the hell out of them.

Yeah, I'm a huge fan of Fabi's complicated torture style but I have to say that this win is more about one player being extremely experienced in classical chess, balancing his time and deep thinking and the other player just wants to crack it so bad and commits too much time for it. Fabi could try to find improvements, as some of them mentioned by Agad but that would also give Firouzja enough time to consolidate. Instead he played moves that would preserve the advantage and let Firouzja to disprove it on a really short time.
I can see that two or three years older Firouzja would treat the position differently.

The number of "if"s Agad uses for analysis clearly demonstrates the supercomputer like camputation power of top chess players as they have to analyze several moves into every possible line to pick the best one and they surely do it almost on every occasion.

Nah, he's good but he's not there yet. This game shows it. Firouzja has been in fantastic form this tournament, so there's no reason to think he's having a "bad time."

@@mercronniel3122 what I was saying is Fabi was having a bad time like he wasn't upto his standards in the first phase of candidates and in Tata Steel Chess Wijk Aan Zee, he started well in the second phase of candidates but couldn't continue that (loosing to Anish Giri and just a draw against out of form Ding and loosing to Wang Hao). And this is the right time for to be back and cement his spot for the next candidates

So happy that David Howell is not slept on in this tournament. He was stuck as “Magnus sidekick #3” and many wrote him off as a random commentator, but Britain’s youngest GM deserves a lot more. He was also on fast track to win last year’s (2019) Grand Swiss, with his lost to Wang Hao sealing his chances in the final final round.

You could capture the f5 pawn with the knight as the rook can’t recapture because the second pawn will fall. Would have just been a forced rook endgame with white up a pawn.

17:45 Interesting move i saw was Rc5, sacrificing the bishop to play Re5+, Kd2, e7, Re8, f6, Nc6, Rxc6 or f7, etc. and white is completely winning. Let me know if anyone finds a move that counters this, because I thought it was pretty forced. Defends the f5 pawn, with the idea to just play Re5 and be protecting the bishop in case alireza tried something other than taking the bishop.
