My wife and I just stayed there last week. She had never been to Vegas before. We tried the $20 dollar tip at check in and it worked! Went from small room to GIANT suite. We watch all your videos, great work.
I went to Vegas from the 3rd through the 12th. I had a great time! I've been watching your videos and they helped me with ideas on where to eat and such. Thanks! I can't wait to go back!
I remember when that fire happened..!..very sad for those families..thanx for updating..was wondering what whalburgers was like..keep the videos coming...
I remember those arches used to extend all the way to Las Vegas boulevard, you could see them as your were driving on LVB, now they're just over the escalators...and wow they still got the old school slot machines with the levers!
Bob Weymouth Thanks! Craig is super busy!!! We are trying to do at least one video a week. Colin and I might have to do a tour without him in our next video.
I stayed at MGM Grand in 1972 for a 3 night weekend stay. Till this day I have never been close to being as lucky as I was playing Blackjack that weekend. I go to L.V. once or twice a year. Never forget that weekend.
When the MGM (Now Bally's) first opened up, there were hugh chandeliers that cost $50k hanging over the casino. The cost of the chandeliers were the talk of the city, but there was less than 100k if us living in the valley then.
When the MGM first opened it had a free large movie memorabilia room with items such as movie star dresses. They also had a live African lion with a huge mane that you could stand next to and have your picture taken. The MGM management apparently disliked foot traffic entering their casino. You had to make a very long walk down the sidewalk, then fight your way through several taxi cab lanes to get into the casino. The taxi drivers took great joy in charging at you with their cabs. When Bally's took over they installed a moving sidewalk to make it easier for the foot traffic to enter the casino.
How fun! Thank you. Have stayed here and found the location to be great. They allowed us to use the pool at Caesar adjacent sister property Paris. And, BTW, I stayed at the original MGM and later saw the fire damage of 1980 (frequent L.V. visitor.) Like the self-check-in, too.
I had just finished working a convention there and was driving back home to California. Naturally, I stopped to pick up some t shirts and souvineers for my family..long before the cell phone days. My wife was frantic by the time I got home. I didn't know anything about the fire.
this video was very helpful. I was just in town for three nights at the Luxor. I didn't most of my Keno gaming at Bally's. I did hit up Excalibur's Keno since it is so close to Luxor. As soon as i got into to town, i bought two cannibus vape pens from Las Vegas Releaf. I had a couple of Dirty Girl Scouts at Bally's. Most of my eating was done at The Grande Lux Cafe in the Venetian. I did also eat the the buffet at Aria, which had Sushi, and awesome pizza...i didn't go to Secret Pizza...Well that's my trip in a nutshell...Thank you guys sooo much for the informative videos, and for keeping the spirit alive!!! Almost all of my transportation was by Lyft. Have a happy holidays...Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year!!! Thanks again for the "local knowledge", and "local love!!"
yup..i actually made it through both pens...I was able to use it in the casino without any issues(no smell), plus other people were vaping. And no issues with smoking in my room...I'm glad you like my comments!!
It smelled like smoke in the casino/ hotel for years. A terrible tragedy. You have some great videos of Caesars in the background while walking on the Vegas strip.
Im happy the new regulations were enacted because of the loss of life. I never wanted to stay there after the fire, I remember some people jumped from upper floors. The casino chip is a nice artifact from a by gone era. First time I went to Vegas was 1975, so much has changed. Make sure theres no bad energy attached to the 100$ chip.
Love Bally's! This is where our pool league(VNEA)hold their World Pool Tournament every year. I have stayed at Bally's the most. Next Memorial Day Weekend, Will mark my 8th. straight year staying at Bally's. And I love it! The tournament used to be held at The Riviera. But they moved it to Bally's in 2011. The Riviers & VENA could not come to terms on a contractn So it moved. Best thing they could have ever done.
There's no better study than that place if Craig's studying to be a building inspector. It's all good now... but so many sloppy items were allowed to let slide... holy crap! No sprinklers on the casino level, non-working fire alarms, seismic joints weren't sealed, HVAC smoke dampers blocked open w/ angle irons & screws, and the fire originated roughly straight across from those doors where you saw the heavy balls which happened to be right next to the tower elevators and their unprotected shafts. Still, the fire wouldn't have happened with all that crap wrong if they'd just had sprinklers... even with all that other crap wrong! It always bugged me that they never even put up a small plaque in memory of the victims...
Buckeye Girl I won't name names but I have a friend at DFD who was really good friends with a couple guys at CCFD way back then and they were uneasy with that place. To put it in perspective, there were fires around the same time at Riviera and Las Vegas Hilton that nobody ever hears about that could've easily been as bad or worse but sprinklers stopped them immediately.
Ive been watching your videos for a few days and i absolutely enjoy them! Im planning on going for my 21st and looking into which hotel to stay in and these video tours have been helping me out
Have a Happy thanksgiving !! Loved the video. VERY nice . Will have to stop there and also that Chicago pizza place too. You make your videos so fun and enjoyable.
I'm tempted to go back into Bally's one of these day's. I would had been one of the one's in the Famous MGM fire there. I wonder if the layout is still the same from the place I would have been in that morning, though I'm sure most of it has changed. Thanks for posting, makes me miss being back in Vegas.
It seems like alot of those silver Jewelry places are popping up everywhere now! The Orleans has one right by the walk to the hotel rooms. The grand bazaar shops is nice! Lots of cool hidden little places there! Vapor Kings, JoJo Beef Jerky and Marash Turkish Ice Cream!
I never knew how expensive Johnny Rockets was there. My wife and I didn't know the Fries and drinks were separate either. I love to go eat out at different places when I visit. I have a few places to go now after watching like 5 videos from you guys.
I"m disappointing I was watching the whole video waiting for you to show the Keno and get a nice 360 view. I have good memories sitting there in the morning with my friends deciding on what to do for the day. Right where the guy was sitting was my spot. Looks like someone moved the table a little. My friends and I rearranged the tables a little so we had more room.
Bally's had my favorite race book when I visited Las Vegas years ago. Free racing forms. It doesn't look any different than it did 10 years ago. I like what they did if front of Bally's. I always thought that was just a lot of wasted unused space.
Bally’s is a really good place to stay at. The rooms are very comfortable and clean. But Bally’s is an older casino hotel. The best part of Bally’s is no longer available for your enjoyment. And that’s Donn Arden’s Jubilee! They closed that show in February 2016. That was my favorite part about going to Bally’s for my vacation.
Jubilee! was awesome. I saw the show 31 times, and I saw it 6 times the week it closed in January of 2014 for updates. Thankfully, I never saw it after they tried to update it. The show was perfect the way it was, The only thing wrong with the show was that they never advertised and marketed it properly. Las Vegas is not the same without seeing Jubilee!.....
I am comming to Vegas next week with my wife and daughter. They would like to know where is best off strip shoping that locals shopp at, and what is the best mall to go to?
"The Galleria" mall on Sunset Rd. in Green Valley is pretty decent and the "Meadows" mall near Decatur Blvd. isn't too bad either. The 3rd mall here is the "Boulevard" mall, on Maryland Pkwy. it's older as it was the first one in 'Vegas and it is still going strong. The Factory Outlet mall is at the far south end of L.V. Blvd. and IMHO much more geared toward tourists but locals like it for specific stores. Last but not least, and definitely the one that costs MOST is the Fashion Show mall at the center of the Strip. The first three are kinda like most malls pretty much, the Outlet mall like any other Outlet mall more or less. The Fashion Show mall is pretty upscale and quite expensive for no real reason other than their space rent is outrageous. Many of the Hotel/Casino/Resorts have on-site shopping and some specialty stores in them as well, with the Forum Shops at Caesar's Palace being the "Fashion Show mall" of the bunch . Also at the South end of the Strip is a place called Town Center or Town Square, or some similar name , and there is shopping and a multitude of restaurants and unique bars/lounges there. Finally, there is a large number of small shops located in 'Vegas' own little ChinaTown over in the West Charleston Blvd. area. You are likely to find any number of items there. Just like any other city, we have our regular places to shop- and it shows with about a dozen EACH of Walmart, Target, K-mart and other national retail faves, but unlike other places, some of these stores are open for the entire 24-hours of each day. All in all, they could literally marathon-shop for the entire visit and still have stones un-turned at the end of your stay. Remember to take one evening to go to Fremont Street and check out the 4-block long overhead light show. It is truly "SO 'Vegas!" that it'd be a shame to miss it. Have a BLAST while you are here and come back & see us again soon!!
Thank You for info. We will start from outlet malls and see where it takes us. We have to account for canadian exchange of 30% in order to compare prices. Mostly shopping, shows and restaurants and visit to Grand Canyon...no gambling.(maybe a little) Staying at Cromwell for a week. Thanks Buckeye Girl and Jeffery.... We love your walkthrough's and look forward to next one.
My wife prefers the North Outlet Mall as opposed to the South Outlet Mall. They may want to walk through Crystals at City Center to check out the real high dollar shops as a sight seeing tour.
Steffs perez December is cold, with wind and occasional precipitation. The weather won't remind you of the weather in the Midwest or the Northeast, but it's a bit chilly.
Wear something comfortable, but bring with you something that you might wear in the mountains for warmth. Most can get by with jeans and a sweatshirt, maybe a sweater or windbreaker. Others find the desert nights to be pretty chilly with the cold wind and prefer a real coat while outdoors. Weather has been mild this year and only just this week started getting chilly at night. I wear shorts 24-7 normally, but had to put pants on last night. Good news is that the weather doesn't really get to freezing often here, and usually happens for 4-6 weeks, like Christmas week thru almost Valentine's day, if at all. Try to dress so that you can take off the hot stuff when you are indoors, but not freeze your ass off when you go back outside. Have a BLAST when you are here, and definitely do not miss a night on Fremont Street! Aside from the occasional street performer with poor-taste in apparel, it is a 'Vegas must-see because it is just "SO FUKKIN' 'Vegas"!! Hope that helps.
I miss the broken down walkway, garden, water feature, and ducks. Not to mention the occasional homeless person sleeping in the bushes. I find the Bazaar shops just a bunch of mall kiosks selling crap. It's like the Bally's basement version 2.0. BTW you would think with the money they are pouring into the room remodels in 2018, they could throw a few bucks at updating the casino floor a bit. I love the old school vibe but the casino floor could use a slight refresh of new carpet, better lighting, and better cigarette smoke filtration.
Ballys is old school and admittedly outdated but it's always busy. When Paris first opened our host there said Stay at Paris and play at Ballys. It was true then.
Have fun, best experience you will have. Make sure you sign up for M life rewards, so u can get great offer from discounts on rooms, food, and free nights as well.
I have lots of pleasant memories of the old Bally’s with the water feature that is now the bazaar and the showgirl show and the nice buffet, which was the go to buffet in the past. I now stay at the Wynn or my Hilton timeshare. Anyways, cut rate casinos are in my past. Bally’s was nice, but I have to quit you.
We go to Vegas quite often, as a guest/tourist of Vegas, I know it's much more different than living there, so a question for the both of you, how do you like living in Vegas? I've enjoyed your videos, Thank You so much! also I love your wife's personality!
Donna Stirling Thanks for watching our videos. I love living here! Beautiful Mountain View’s everywhere, lots to do & cost of living isn’t to bad. I do miss the genuine people.
Back when it was the original MGM, they had a live lion in the basement you get your picture taken with. It was supposed to be the lion that the used for intros to MGM movies. Wheel of Fortune is the only slot to play. Won $1,000 in the high roller slot room at the Flamingo and $500 at Planet Ho. Recommend the 5 row if you're playing quarter version. Nosh restaurant by the poker room does great croissants 4 breakfast and Mexican restaurant USED to do a cheap breakfast platter after 11PM.
Technically Panama City Beach is the reneck Riviera. :D Bally seems to be lacking a theme, doesn't it? Thanks for the tour, I been curious about this property or a while.
Bally's proved you don't need a humongous building and hotel to be successful. I like Bally's. I used to play at the casino across from the but I can't remember it's name.
Heres the deal on Ballys. Caesars got a good deal on it & they were going to do some minor upgrades & try to "flip it". Unfortunately for them 2008 hit and they got stuck with it. The place is in need of some major maintenance upgrades in some of the unseen back of house areas & Convention Rooms and I think they are doing the Best they can under the circumstances. The $100 per person Sunday Brunch Lobster Buffet is still one of the best in Vegas...Also its the most Haunted Hotel in Vegas & I heard one story where an employee was at the Penthouse Ballroom area late at night and he happened to stop and look at one of the many mirrors and when he did he saw a man standing behind him & turned around & nobody was there. Also reports of "people" in the end of halls and when you get closer they vanish into thin air right in front of your eyes. (Add Twilight Zone music here)
Wow!! this is where i do my live Keno playing!!...Do you know if Excalibur has live Keno too? I am going to research that, but if you already know, please comment. Thanks!!
Next time you play live KENO, I have a suggestion. Try playing what is called a "Way" ticket. It takes a couple buck per game but they are way better as far as your "odds" go. I play a ticket with 5 numbers, usually called a "5-spot", but I play it as a WAY ticket and instead of one or two payouts, (3,4 or 5 out of 5) I can win up to 31 different ways on the same ticket. Pick 5 numbers, circle each them on the ticket, tell the writer you want to play "All Kings, All Ways" and ask for the special "WAYS TICKET pricing". It may be as little as .10 cents per way!! A 5 spot can be played 31 ways at the same time. The odds of winning that ticket go up EXPONENTIALLY as you are now playing 31 games on that ticket. Example- pay .50 cents or $1 for a single 5-spot ticket for 1 game OR play a 31 way 5 spot for $3.10 if the rate is .10 cents. if the $1 ticket gets 3 out of 5 it is $1 won, but if the $3.10 ticket hits 3 of 5 of your numbers, it is $20.75 won. And that's because you are playing 5@1-spot, 10@2-spot, 10@3-spot, 5@4-spot and 1@5-spot all at the same time!! Now, don't THOSE odds sound better to you?? Needless to say, I do not play single-game tickets anymore!!
I'm a fan of "old Vegas" and I love the El Cortez. If you are planning to stay there, I suggest one of the tower rooms. Also depending on your checkout time, you can get a free ride to the airport!
Despite being the worst disaster in Las Vegas history in terms of lives lost, the MGM Grand Fire lives lost are not memorialized anywhere in the city. Bad for business to do so, I guess.
Not a fan of this property at all. It just feels like it has no identity . It feels out of place among the other resorts on the strip. Even though they were let go I miss the Riviera, Stardust, Westward Ho, The Boardwalk and even the Klondike. I wouldn't even notice if Bally's was gone. Having said that never had bad service there. The people working there are great just not a fan of the property just an opinion doesn't mean I am right.
davh10 I’m a 92 baby so to me Bally’s is old Vegas they go rid of Barbary coast next door so to me it’s like one of the OG casinos while I was growing up
My first trip to Las Vegas in the early 2000's I was playing blackjack at Bally's and got pickpocketed. I was up and as I won I would put my chips in my pants pocket. It got harder as the pocket filled up so I switched to my jacket pocket. After loosing a few hands in a row I went to the jacket pocket to get a few 5 dollars chips (I had about 5 or 6 in the pocket), and when I reached in I only had 1 chip. The table was crowded and there were watchers standing behind us, so someone obviously saw me putting chips in my coat pocket and got some while I was playing.
I am fascinated by the history of Las Vegas, and I love it when you add it to your videos. You guys really do your homework.
Me too! I have been studying it for 5 years now 2021!
My wife and I just stayed there last week. She had never been to Vegas before. We tried the $20 dollar tip at check in and it worked! Went from small room to GIANT suite. We watch all your videos, great work.
Scuba Robert Thanks for watching!
Erica's voice always makes my video viewing more pleasurable. Thanks Erica and Craig.

Damn, enjoy those pens! No way you made it thru one of them! Unless you were here 2 weeks. HAHA. Thanks for always leaving the best comments!
yup..i actually made it through both pens...I was able to use it in the casino without any issues(no smell), plus other people were vaping. And no issues with smoking in my room...I'm glad you like my comments!!
Damn. I am impressed. It takes me forever to burn one. Next time your in town, find the shop that sells Brass Knuckles. They are my favorite!
okay!!
i love ballys. very old school feel.. and ideally situated on the strip.
I keep this place in mind when I go out to Vegas in 2 weeks
David Vasquez Have a blast!!
Great quick fix for my vegas itch!!! Thx
I was there last week incredible place, and so is your city of las Vegas!
It smelled like smoke in the casino/ hotel for years. A terrible tragedy. You have some great videos of Caesars in the background while walking on the Vegas strip.
NYC girl , I bought a $100 MGM casino chip that was half melted from the fire on eBay. The chip still smelled like fire smoke.
Im happy the new regulations were enacted because of the loss of life. I never wanted to stay there after the fire, I remember some people jumped from upper floors. Good video to check out. I'll be staying at Bally's in a few weeks. Nice to know a little of what to expect
Love your videos guys. Cant wait till Nov 3. See you all then for 5 fun filled nights.

I stayed at Ballys for my 21st bday boy was I drunk most of the time, but it was a great hotel.
another cool video! I liked Ballys old entrance better than the new one but it's still a nice casino
Nice my friends. have a nice thanksgiving..
Glenn Davis Thanks you too!!
Nice historical input!
Saw the Coors beer bottle in video. What's the current law for glass bottles on strip- is it more relaxed now ?
I tend to get away with it on the strip... Fremont street security are strict on it.
Noticed most casino's stopped putting free plastic cups by exit doors now.
its amazing how addictive gambling is like look all these people in this town Im guilty of playing there myself
GREAT VIDEO! Loved it!!!! Will be there in June/July. Can't wait!! Maybe come across you too.,💖💚💖💚💖💚😻😻😻😻😻
I never knew how expensive Johnny Rockets was there. My wife and I didn't know the Fries and drinks were separate either. I love to go eat out at different places when I visit. I have a few places to go now after watching like 5 videos from you guys.
I am from Chicago and the deep dish pizza at Giordano's is amazing!! (pronounced Gee-or-dah-no's)

I stayed here a few weeks ago. The chicken place out front - blue ribbon chicken, IIRC. It is actually pretty good.
Was there before the fire. Moved there in 90, went in as it was Bally’s then. I was to uncomfortable in there. It was eerie to me and never went back.
Of all the resorts, I've never stepped into Bally's. Next trip i'm going there.
I saw George Carlin at Bally's in 1998. Great show.
Daniel Williams JEALOUS. grew up listening to him on records

Darko Patekar there are outlet malls at both ends of the strip. I shop at the Galleria Mall because it’s close to home.
Last time I was there NONE of those little shops were there.... yeesh, it's changed.
Any suggestions on what to wear in Dec since your a local? I'm going Dec 15-18 ! Anyway I subscribed thank you for the great content.
Steffs perez thank you. The temps will most likely be 60-70's during the day. Low 40-50's at night....fahrenheit
I love that blue Corvette too. You have great taste.
Was at cromwell last week loved it!
Love Vegas .Great video.Thanks.
V9513 K Thanks for watching!
Double double bonus VP is the most addicting! I’ve had my best luck at the baccarat bar bellagio and they make good stiff drinks comp 🤠👍🍸
I’ll be in Vegas this week, staying at Venetian!
Mariah W Have a blast!

Mariah W get ready for the big up sell at check in.

Oh sweet...I can see the Stage Door!
GREAT TOUR, NICE HOTEL
I have lots of pleasant memories of the old Bally’s with the water feature that is now the bazaar and the showgirl show and the nice buffet, which was the go to buffet in the past. I now stay at the Wynn or my Hilton timeshare. Anyways, cut rate casinos are in my past. Bally’s was nice, but I have to quit you.
Awesome video! Also what's that song at the end?? I love it
Charlie Ashby syn Cole- feel good
Living in Las Vegas thank you!! Going on the Vegas playlist
and another great walk through by the kings of vegas thank guys are you going to do abandon sites again I love when you do those just asking
Joe Newman yes. I miss it, but professionally I'm strapped for time. I will have more time over Xmas break for some.
Uh oh! The grammar nazis are out! 4 months late, and still couldn't resist!!! Lmao.
It's Geo-don-nos. Chicago staple. You should check it out especially for the spinach pizza
My mom and dad were in the MGM fire...dont worry still alive...just celebrated 50yr wedding anniversary
+Home is Neptune Happy Anniversary and thank God they made it out OK. Thanks for the comments!
She's a keeper!
Hi guys... I was wondering about the Blue Ribbon Fried Chicken.. have you tried it? Is it any good?
Toon Boy We have not tried it yet... on a comment below someone said it was good.
Toon Boy I ate there. The food was really good.
Ivy 7788 Thanks I'll try it the next time I'm there!
I been to the one in Downtown Summerlin and the fries and mac & Cheese are great! The chicken itself is seasoned wonderful!
Nice headlights!
Loving the introduction good job
Not sure about the rooms here, but we win here a lot, especially fun....Bally's still has LIVE KENO Yooooo Hooooo
Can't wait to come back. have u guys been to maggianos at fashion show? I miss that place
+Jennifer Rosenfeld nope, I love Italian food. Next time you go tell them to invite us in...😉😉😉
Living in Las Vegas not a problem I def miss the strip looks like a lot of new stuff there.
Technically Panama City Beach is the reneck Riviera. :D Bally seems to be lacking a theme, doesn't it? Thanks for the tour, I been curious about this property or a while.
Great video.
I went to the MGM in 1979 that was the place to be at night
Bally's proved you don't need a humongous building and hotel to be successful. I like Bally's. I used to play at the casino across from the but I can't remember it's name.
The NOSH in the back of Ballys has the only Prime Rib sandwich in LV. Good price and tastes good.
(Add Twilight Zone music here)
Love it!
Wow!! this is where i do my live Keno playing!!...Do you know if Excalibur has live Keno too? I am going to research that, but if you already know, please comment. Thanks!!
Kevin Johnson not sure, I believe they do...
thank you for the reply!!
Needless to say, I do not play single-game tickets anymore!!
you know it Jeffery, i always play way tickets...i'm already hip to it. Thanks for posting, as other people might catch on to it as well.
Yes, they just might. Kudos to you btw for being hip to a 'Vegas insider secret!
Great video. El Cortez coming?
Joe Carter we just talked about it. Soon for sure
I'm a fan of "old Vegas" and I love the El Cortez. If you are planning to stay there, I suggest one of the tower rooms. Also depending on your checkout time, you can get a free ride to the airport!
I have a friend who would never get on the escalator wherever he went. He always had to use some stairs.
WOW!! has Bally's OMG I'm gonna go crazzzzy!! Be thre April 15-17th can't wait!!! WOW!!
Ballys not that bad!
I get what you mean, it's not bad just boring!
davh10 I’m a 92 baby so to me Bally’s is old Vegas they go rid of Barbary coast next door so to me it’s like one of the OG casinos while I was growing up
My first trip to Las Vegas in the early 2000's I was playing blackjack at Bally's and got pickpocketed.
Yeah that’s where Jesse and i went. I wasn’t impressed but Jesse liked it 😉
I can’t keep watching your videos! We just left and really itching to come back.. like now!
Could you do Ellis Island Super 8 next? its close to Ballys :)
chossy911 our next video may have a blip of it... security got us immediately.
