And we get a good look at the finished piece--not like those videos calling themselves "Amazing" and "Astounding" but are afraid to show the end product.
There are so many channels about woodworking on TH-cam, and many of them are honestly good. But this is another league! No easy humor, no music, distractions... Just relaxing perfection.
My friend in the woodworking industry, I just have to say thank you for the work you do. It is an inspiration to all that work with wood. I’m humbled by your technique kind sir.
I like this format of a shorter detailed component build of a larger project. I will watch whatever you post but really enjoyed this format. Thanks for the video.
Love these videos! Your woodworking and the atmosphere you create in these was a huge inspiration in starting my channel with my brother, woodworking and Swedish Nature. Thank you so much for the years of entertainment and quality work!
it's nice to wait for your videos, it's a pleasure to watch them, but every now and then also give us a smile. I work wood as a hobby, I live in Rome (Italy) and for me you are a good example to follow for my work. Thank you and don't forget a smile.
Gorgoeus woodcraftft, equisite craftmanship with attention to detail down to the last sliver of timber … amazing to watch, and enjoy. Makes me dream to be 1/8 as good 😊
Great work. I found it interesting how you split the back of the drawer then screwed it back together after inserting the bottom. Also, in English, we call the front joint "half-blind" dovetails. Some have mentioned "blind" dovetails, which are a bit different (the dovetail is fully concealed inside the joint).
Yes, I noted that split-back element too. I can see how it will allow for removal of the drawer bottom in the future, but I am at a loss to explain why? If the bottom is damaged? But why is that a concern?
@idontthinkso666 It's got nothing to do with removing the drawer bottom. It's a way of installing the piece with a much more logical function in terms of the creating a sandwich design using vertical slots, & immensely stronger than a slotted single backplate.
I really enjoy your methodology. You take great care selecting the timber, and use machines to enable you to spend the time on hand work without undue stress upon your body, wasting time, or compromising the quality. I like your sensible use of screws ti enable fixing and natural movement. Absolutely beautiful work as always!
We call this a blind dovetail joint in western woodworking. Found some techniques in this video that will definitely help me improve on cutting dovetails by hand.
A very nice drawer. In English we would generally call the joint a "lapped dovetail" or "half-blind dovetail." "Lapped" comes from old English because we don't really use the word anymore. "Wrapped dovetail" certainly is descriptive.
Paul Sellars made a similar little tub and stuffed in an oiled length of cotton cloth .The top protruded somewhat and he would wipe it across all cutting blades ie. Planes -sawblades etc. No doubt good for the care of blades too apart from easing the cutting surface.
Simple and yet beautiful. In American English it's a "half blind dovetail" But with craftsmanship like that, you can call it the Ishitani Dovetail drawer. ;)
No music, no voiceovers, no time lapses, no crazy thumbnails. And yet it's my favorite woodworking channel.
There are a few channels in different maker spaces that let the sound of making speak for itself, pleasnt and relaxing.
And we get a good look at the finished piece--not like those videos calling themselves "Amazing" and "Astounding" but are afraid to show the end product.
Especially appreciated is no sub standard comedic interludes- and I love great comedy as much as great woodworking.
@@americanmade6996 that drives me crazy!
As it should be

So much better to watch this than epoxy slab table builder with metal legs. Such care and craftsmanship!
Oh, I hate that epoxy ... without either craft or design integrity!
Two videos in one week! What a treat! Utterly love your work!

Absolutely love the way you echoed the dovetail shape throughout the piece. Really connects the whole piece together. Compliments to the Master.

Watching you work is one of life's great joys.

These videos make me smile every time. Reminds me of a wood workshop i used to visit as a kid on errands from my grandpa.

That guy does nice work
I was so stoked to see a new video was uploaded. As always, beautiful work!
Wasn't until the very end I realized the front was 'oversized' which is probably what you meant by wrapped. Such a wonderful detail.
You Make everything look so easy bro! I wish i had 25% of your GOD given gift! Happy holidays!🎉
Beautiful as always!
Very nice, thank you.
Stunning.
Beautifully done, thanks for showing us.
I love the focus on one aspect of your larger project. Just when I thought your page couldn’t get any better, it does. Thank you.
Merci, vous êtes un maître.
love it, i believe it's called a half-blind dovetail
Such beautiful work. Please keep sharing your work, it brings such pleasure to many.

Half-blind, actually.
Perfect
That is one beautiful desk.
Wow, I would love to make a desk like that. Spectacular.
Well done. I think a holdfast for clamping on your workbench would be useful.
Fantastic work!
Always watch your content and looking forward to the next one

Beautiful!
Ishitani, You don't make furniture. it is much more - it is a work of art.
At first, i fidnt notice that the front it taller than the main body of the drawer until that last shot. Very nice.
So awesome.
Ishitani du bist ein cooler Japaner!
👍👍👍👍

La solita perfezione, passione e vera arte giapponese!! Per me, guardare i tuoi video è una vera e propria terapia per l'anima!!
Superb!
Nice work!
Amazing! What is the purpose of the -steel sponge?- that the chisel is dipped into at 1:49?
Yes, I have the same question!
Maybe wax or paraffin to make it easier to cut ? Curious as well though
Boa pergunta.
Nos demais vídeos sobre marcenaria ninguém se utiliza desse recurso.
