    Quite informative and great video ! Especially for those whome never have been in New York 🗽 and are not familiar any of the airports of NYC ! And you were right about that just by listening your narration , that it’s very confusing to get the transportation , cheap one especially !! So any money option is welcomed if don’t be so rush to get to the final destination , aka hotel !! So i find this video quite informative and helpful !! And it was nice to see JFK airport even for awhile !! This could cause lots of headaches , but 2,75$ sounds quite reasonable price in case there is no hurry so !! Thank you A K for sharing 🗽👍!!!

      Great video AK, to be honest though I just walk straight to the NYC taxis as they have a fixed rate of $65 to Manhattan. Takes all the waiting and stress out of getting to the hotel, especially when you've been on a plane for 7+ hours.

    Travelers unfamiliar with NYC probably wouldn't take this route, it's rough just finding the bus stop. The Metrocard transfer doesn't work between the Air Train and the NYC subway either. The 57th Street station at the end of your trip is a recent station which opened around 1967. It was a terminal for about thirty years until the 63rd street tunnel to Queens finally opened. So its recent renovation was odd considering how many older stations need upgrade.

    • @ActionKid
      @ActionKid  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For most travelers I won't recommend this route just due to all the hassles of having to get off the AirTrain (unless you're already at Terminal 5) and dealing with luggage. You'll spend about $8 more at the minimum but you'll save a lot of time.

    • @timfaracy754
      @timfaracy754 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AshmewStudios I know he rode the bus, but other people who take Airtrain to the subway, because they don't realize there are other routes, might not know there's no free transfer. For many years before the Airtrain system was built the airport shuttle bus to and from Howard Beach subway station was free.

    This is good advice, and handy for those feeling a little adventurous.
    When I came from England to NY in November ‘21 I got a taxi from JFK to Midtown fully aware of the fare and charges and tips, so it was no big. But what made THAT trip memorable was there was a massive freak thunderstorm when we got near Flushing Meadows. Even the driver said it was odd for the time of year, and spectacular to see, too. I remember my other half saying “wouldn’t it be cool if it struck a building”, and as if to reinforce my conception that my better half IS a god….lightning struck one of the high rises in the city….TWICE!
    And then we had an amazing week in the city, and even ventured out of the city from Grand Central on a train to a little town to Cold Spring! Highly recommend that day trip. We also missed bumping into Action Kid by about half hour on two occasions! Lol
    Anyways, thanks for all your videos Kid! You are, and always will be, a legend in my eyes.

However, I don't have a Metro card. How could I get a Metro card before boarding the Q10 LTD? I would appreciate any advice.

    Hello, your very informative but for the LIRR, the different fare rules is this: all fares were made off peak until further notice since ridership is super low. It’s nice that you can take the bus and subway for $2.75 but: do you really want to spend all that time sitting on a bus to a subway?

    Thanks AK, this is useful info and may come in handy. What would you say would be the fastest on public transportation regardless of cost, maybe the AirTrain to Jamaica then LIRR to Penn for Midtown?
    FYI from Logan Boston, the free shuttle to Blue Line Airport Station inbound to Bowdoin gets you to the Orange Line via State St and the Green Line via Government Center. The Red Line is one stop past State St at Downtown Crossing. Fare is $2.60 in all cases.

  • @shawnpersaud5622
    @shawnpersaud5622 ปีที่แล้ว

    Actually, there are mentio card machine at the airport JFK, but not if you're taking the bus route, if you're taking the LIRR route, then when you come out the departure section you have to pay $7.75 or $10.75 to exit to the LIRR platform. There are machines there to reload or get a new metro card and also purchase a white LIRR ticket at the same machine section. Once you exit the section and pay with the metro card, then you head in the directron down to the LIRR platform, but before you go down, by the steps, there are machines there too to get a LIRR ticket, if you forgot or didn't know you can get them at the same section where you just got your metro new or reloaded. There is also a new Grand central stop instead of Penn station which you arrive in downtown manhattan.

    • @ActionKid
      @ActionKid  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t think there’s an option to buy a 7 day unlimited MetroCard at the airport. However, all NYC buses and subways use the OMNY system now and you can pay with a contactless payment card or smart phone. If you spend $33 in fares for the preceding week, your rides for 7 days will be free starting on Monday.

      You can take the AirTrain to the bus & subway like in this video but it will be longer, you would need to take the E train to 7th Avenue - 53rd Street and then transfer to an uptown B or D train for one stop instead of the F train to 57th Street. It’s possible to take the AirTrain directly to Jamaica station for a transfer to the E train and not have to take a bus - that will cost $8.00 (new AirTrain fee) + $2.75 (subway fare without the $1.00 new MetroCard fee)
