    Hello Wolfgang and Sebastian,
    Thank's for your instructions. As I'm brandnew in sharpening, your videos are very helpful. I bought my machine (T4) just two weeks ago and the results are great.👍👍👍

    Your tutorials are very informative, and I appreciate them very much. The tutorial for garden pruners is especially gratifying. I practice Tai Chi for health and improved body movement. Your tutorial matches the very important concept of moving with your "dan tien", the energy center of your body. Everything moves from the dan tien. Wolfgang's advice to keep the elbows close to the body and move the body to sharpen a pruning shear and not just the arms is precisely the advice of using the dan tien to sharpen tools. So appreciative of your tutorials.
    Thanks!

    Great video showing the versatility of the T8. I stumbled on this video when a company I get email newsletters from (Advanced Machinery here in the USA) notified me that Tormek has introduced a new composite honing wheel I never heard of (CW-220) and I went to the Tormek website to find out more info. I am subscribed with the bell on to your TH-cam site, but I don't recall receiving any notification you were doing these cool classes. Thank you nonetheless. You gave me all kinds of answers to special yard tools that need sharpening quickly and consistently. I can't wait until you are able to create a jig to quickly sharpen chain saw blades on the T8. I hope these kinds of classes will last longer than COVID-19. LOL. Thank you, again.

    These are brilliant videos - thank you! I’ve found so many extra uses for my Tormek, and also improved my technique for items I was already sharpening. I’ve ordered a few more accessories for my T-8 since watching this series, but things are mostly on back-order in the UK, so these videos must be creating some sales success too ;)

      Hello Brad! Great to hear that you enjoy the classes!
      We really want to share the methods and tricks we have learned over the years of sharpening a lot with the machine. And also show the
      versatility of the machine and that you can sharpen almost anything although we don't have a specific jig for it.

    I found it easier to hold the long scythe blade diagonally accross the stone. That gives you good clearance over the honing wheel and the roundness of the stone helps to get a good contact on the concave shape of the blade. Surprisingly easy, really. It's great that at this time as more and more things are cheap, poor quality and not thought of much, we still have Tormek.

    About his knob trick. I put a rubber washer on a 1/4" bolt. Then put it in my variable speed drill and use it to run my facing tool. Works better and more consistent than doing it by hand.

    I wish the knife jig was adjustable to keep the apex centered. At least if both sides had a 0.5mm recess, thicker blades would not have a longer bevel on one side...my only gripe about purchasing the T-8 a month ago. And the black knob hits the rail when horizontal so I replace the knobs with regular 6mm x 1cm bolts and use a hex driver to create extra clearance when setting an angle horizontally for polishing etc

      @TormekSharpening  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Andy! Glad to hear you enjoy our videos :D Hope that you can still learn and develop your sharpening even further, that is our goal! There are no plans on offering the blackstone for the T-4. We did, however, release all our diamond wheels for the T-4 this year, and they are able to sharpen all types of harder steels. They also always stay true to keep the jig setting as easy as possible. Stay sharp! :D

    What do you use as a blade protector? When delivering to a customer you want to show them the blade but to protect it I use electrical tape. I'm looking for something better and safer.

    • @TormekSharpening
      @TormekSharpening  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hej Steven, a cloth strengthen tape works fine too, but you need to find the right one with a medium glue, otherwise its difficult du get rid of the recedues when taking of the tape.

      Good question

  • @stevenlarsen1691
    @stevenlarsen1691 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    A lot of garden tools come to me and the main problem is the blade is bent. As they get dull they twist it to break it loose. Sometimes cheap tools are not worth sharpening. I think Tormek does not compromise quality. I think Tormek needs to approve tool companies that have similar standards.

    • @TormekSharpening
      @TormekSharpening  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutley, but you get tools you have to sharpen, I reject of couse tools, especially knives wich are heavily damaged an cost nothing to replace and takes more effort and time to repair. But sometime you have no choice ;-)

    Hi, more great info! Bought a T8 about a year ago and sharpened my lawnmower blade for the first time today. Wondering , would is be ok to sharpen both sides of the blade? Obviously one side has more of an angle and the other is almost flat , so almost no angle on the flat side.

    Do you have any videos on maintaining the T8? Im mostly curious about the leather wheel and if I need to clean it after months of use, or just continue to use it along with the compound?

    • @TormekSharpening
      @TormekSharpening  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Grant, We are planning a maintenance episode some in spring 2021. Until than I can give you the advice that you don't really need to clean it. If you feel you have to much dry paste stuck to the honing wheel you can put the back of a chisel against the running honing wheel and take it away. Stay sharp!

    I have a pair of fiskars garden shears where one of the two blades is serrated on one of the cutting edges (like that of a steak knife on that one blade). Do you have any tricks on how to sharpen that particular blade? The backside of that blade is flat like just on any other blade.

    Thank you for your videos , sometime is hard for me to watch live as in Australia it is 11.30 at night when you start. I have a question which is very important and not enough information around TH-cam or your videos. I purchased a T8 machine and also 2 sets of mounting blocks for CBN wheels on a 2nd Grinder. my question applies to both of them as I am wood-turner for the past 5 or so years we recommend our beginners when they purchase to have height of the lath to be Centre line of the spindle about elbow height of the arm when you bend it. What will be approximate height of the Centre line of the Grinder relevant to my body??? please do not say just whatever you feel comfortable.... surely there is some thumb rule???... I noticed with Wolfgang the centre of the wheel is about his trouser buckle is or something similar can you help with approximate height position for both T* and bench grinder as my bench Grinder spindle height is 190mm ... finally your instructions of the bench Grinder also information is missing re the horizontal height of the bar to the bench Grinder spindle , my CBN wheels are 200mmin diameter,. Thanking you in advance Jack Marashlian from Australia.

    • @patricksasman1583
      @patricksasman1583 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The workstation that is used, the height ranges from 750mm to 830mm. You can use that as your starting point for your ideal height. To work out the height of the bar to the bench grinder, you would need to use the TTS-100 and the bar to work out the height making sure that it does not touch the cover/shroud of your particular bench grinder.The diagram shows how far the bar fits into the horizontal base to set how far forward and away from the grinder it stands on the base board.

      @@d.k.1394 Because residual water will stay in the stone even after the tray is removed. If that water freezes it could expand and possibly crack the stone. At least that's my fear.

    • @d.k.1394

      Surely if the water can get into the stone....it can get out??? Therefore freezing with water in it should quickly seep out.
