    For those of you saying this tool is useless because it destroys the lock. It doesn't, this is a specialised tool made by Wendt which removes part of the hard case that comes as an extra for protec cylinders. Once this is penetrated the core can be removed and decoded and a key can be produced. After this the cylinder can be fitted with a new hard case thus making this type of entry somewhat surreptitious. This is a useful covert entry method for law enforcement, who use al lot of Wendt products

    For those not agreeing with this type of videos: Knowledge is power! Would you rather have only criminals know this or you too, as end user of these locks, so you can educate yourself and make a smart decision on what to install on your entries? Trust me, without this video, only the bad guys would have this information and you’d live in a fairytale trusting only what the manufacturer put on their packaging.
    Think about it.

    One reason for putting these video's up is to show people just how easy it is for anyone to open these locks. These locks are not cheap and alot of them claim to be unpickable. Well as you can see there is more than one way to skin a cat. The manufacturers of these locks will need to up their game and stop selling over priced crap. Remember, criminals do not play by the rules.

      But they didn't pick it...they drilled it.. no lock is immune to drilling. But a thief is not going to bring a drill to an apartment or house in the middle of the night...unless its a casino or bank door..where highly motivated thieves plan for months and scope out what kind of lock it is..this scenario in the video will almost never happen. You cant bump or pick the lock...its worth the money..and they look beautiful too. This video to me just shows you how you can get back in to your own home if you should ever lock yourself out.. 99% of home burglaries are committed in moments of opportunity. An open window...a cheap looking door or lock looks delicious to a thief... a strange unpickable unbumpable lock is a no go..the thief will move on.

    • @JRLMBeats
      @JRLMBeats 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      A career burglar wont use a drill in a residential area. They would find an easier way in..like a window or back door with a cheaper lock.. lets be realistic.

      There is always a way in. During the Hatton Garden burglary, the burglars used a Hilti DD350 industrial drill to simply drill a large hole through the entire 50cm thick vault wall made of reinforced concrete, then one of the group crawled through the hole and emptied out the vault.

    Searching for "Abloy Milling Cutter" shows that the special tool with 4 carbide tips costs around 25 euros. A drill capable of running that with enough torque might cost around 200 euros. I guess that combination would beat any lock in any normal door.

    That tool is easily defeated by other cylinders. Abloy made the body hardened which appears to be very thoughtful but in fact it isn't. You can have the full hardened body but you still need widia inserts to surround the locking mechanism preventing it from being drilled. Accordingly other manufacturers use brass body with tungsten inserts at pivotal points. Milling is then either deviated or delayed or simply won't work. Check Disec Krypton defenders, they employ the same idea.

    I believe there is an extra bit of hardened metal that goes on top of this cylinder when installed, to make drilling a bit more difficult. But of course, there is a way to drill into anything, eventually...

  • @fleksimir
    @fleksimir 11 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    there is always a harder drill bit. except if the hardened steel isn't acctually hardened steel but it's somethign extremely hard like tungsten carbide. in that case it's britle enough to just smash it with a hammer.

      If you're a locksmith and a customer comes to you saying that they lost a key to their apartment, and you need to replace the lock without first entering the building and unlocking it from the inside, the customer might object a bit if they have to replace the entire door instead of replacing just the lock. This tool is not primarily for thieves, which might be obvious from how the drill bit requires a powertool, but advertisement for locksmiths.

    Must be made of same metal as concrete hammer drills. Can cut practically everything - hard antidrill material or not. I used an ordinary concrete drill mounted in a fast rotating table drill machine to make riveting holes in a cold saw blade for a home made knife. Normally that very special steel is considered undrillable - only slowly grindable. Once the drill tip got red hot it went through like butter and the drill unexpectedly still looked unused.

    maybe abloy could add safe mechanism to it so if parts start to remove it disconnects part holding the door from the lock so spinning the lock no longer moves it. and the part is too large to be removed from the lock base itself. ofcourse no one could then ooen the lock without major removal of parts but bit more secure.

    • @huxleypig69
      @huxleypig69 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is a lock that does exactly that. If you force anything then it locks down at the cam. So if you drill or snap it then it becomes much more of a pain in the ass to get out.

    • @huxleypig69
      @huxleypig69 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree that this method makes an amount of noise and would probably leave evidence of its usage. It is interesting to note that the cylinders in this video were the hardened ones. It was from 8 years ago though and I hear that Abloy have made this more difficult since. In any case, if you have compromised the cylinder then it is game over, nobody would ever know.

That is an EURO lock ( i would never use them ) where older types from other manufacturers you could brake in half with one hit . Why buy a expensive drill when you can just saw the whole door in half . Also you can shoot that lock with a .50 bmg bet it would open after that .

      No its a tool that shows locksmith how to get people into their locked out apartment. NO thief will drill into an apartment or home......unless THEY KNOW FOR A FACT.. that what ever is inside is worth the risk that a loud power tool will bring. 99% of home burglaries are done in moments of opportunity..an open window.. an open door.. a very cheap door and lock that looks easily kicked in...in reality.. no one is drilling an abloy to get into a strangers apartment.. its not worth the trouble. Theyll find a easier way in.. trust me.
