    Hello , thanks for the assist your are offering us... my questions is : can I apply the device on VIN number to check if there is a new / recent paint , in order to recognize if the VIN was manipulated or not... Thanks in advance .

    Knowing the clear thickness especially if youre working on foreign cars.you just never know.nice vid boys.at the least should make you think twice before putting the da to the paint and help choose compounds. We would all like a before and after with various polishes and compounds.good idea? Could verify acuracy as well hevi cut vs a polish.

    Hi, thanks for vid! Is the tip made of a soft rubber or plastic material or is it metal?

    • @PureOctaneGarage
      @PureOctaneGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Don. The tip that depresses is metal and that retracts into the black plastic base for measuring. As long as you are careful, you shouldn't have any scratching introduced to the paint. Thanks for watching!

    I just got the exact same gauge. I can't figure out how to calibrate it. Could you give me some direction. I'd truly appreciate it.

    • @PureOctaneGarage
      @PureOctaneGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The best way to calibrate it was with the sample films that came in the box. They have the measurements on the individual films.We used the zero calibration method in the instructions. It can be hard to follow, due to bad English, but will get you there. Is pretty lengthy to type here, so check the insert that came with the gauge and you'll be set! Thanks for watching!

    Does it work for measuring other stuff, like rubber o-rings thickness 🤔

    • @PureOctaneGarage
      @PureOctaneGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Don't think that will work. Just for reading distance to the metal here. Thanks for watching!

    Why do you have trouble with microns, micrometers, umeters, um,....?
    There is no Greek mu character on English keyboards. So most text
    abbreviate "mu" to "u". So microscope becomes uscope. Microvolt
    becomes uvolt. Micrometer becomes umeter, hence um. 1.000 inches
    is 25.4mm. 0.001" is 25.4um.
    Mu
