    I think he meant that the spacer has a high resistance to heat, unlike aluminum which absorbs heat, phenolic is an excellent heat insulator. I use one on my '73 SB, and my '88 Silverado.

    Hey Mike I found a good deal on a weber rebuild kit all the way from italy. Hopefully they fit. but they sent 1.75 needle, what size is the original? will I be changing my size with these?

      Hmmm, I can’t say what the original size is, but 1.75 is what I’ve always had and that seems to work good (in my weather)…55 idle, 150 main, 175 air correction is my other stuff. Checked the plugs yesterday and they were perfect with mixture 1 1/4 turns out. The floats work good for me set at 300-320 thou. I know that’s technically expressed in millimeters which I think is 7-8 mm or so. Glad you found a genuine kit!

    I’m curious why you’re running the short manifolds which appear to be Type 3?
    You likely would not have carb issues with the Type 1 taller manifolds and I think you have the space.
    Also, consider moving the filter outside the engine compartment altogether and careful on not over tightening the clamps with those plastic filters; very easy to not notice it deforming and next thing you know Firefighter Bill is out there putting out another engine fire.
    Last thing, the CB Performance linkage is well worth the expense as it stays in tune as the engine heats up ; this tends to change the geometry on lesser quality kits.

      All good points indeed. Those short manifolds are the ones they send with the “kit,” and phenolic spacers fixed the heat issue there. However, I do intend to get taller manifolds for future carbs.
      The fuel filter has been moved beneath the fender of both my Bus and Bug when I put electric fuel pumps on them. As a Firefighter myself, I keep an extinguisher on board, but feel ALOT better after moving those filters. The ones I really don’t understand is when i see them between the fuel pump and carburetor, HOVERING ABOVE THE DIZZY 🤔

    Hi. There's a well known fault in the way the float in the Solex is mounted. The white hinge lock is mounted backwards, the bend is supposed to face against the wall, not against the float. If it's facing the float it's a good possibility of it touching the float bracket and then the float will never reach the float needle... then it will flood... Thanks for the other stuff...!!!
