Max Payne was an iconic series in the early 2000's. It was known for it's uncompromising violence and hard hitting story. It took almost a decade to release the third Max Payne, but it set the standard for storytelling in the series. The entire game feels like a movie, as you constantly hear Max's narration. He always lets you into his mind, not only letting you know plot points, but also giving you a window into his mind and emotions. The game is dark and gritty, and sometimes to a fault. Max feels like the most depressed man in the world at times. But it never stops the action from coming.

Jadaya Indigo Exactly. That movie was a source of cancer :( The director/ writers / actors kidnapped, raped, gagged and killed the franchise. Jesus christ one of my biggest movie disappointments ever.
Namely bercause none of the games studios (3D Realms, Rockstar) had zero involvement in making the movie. And they pretty much did one thing was get the characters names and SOME events right but everything else just went to shit.

every max payne is awesome because of the noir feeling it brings. people die, world is fucked, bad guys win. every payne game was more lived through then just played, you can feel it in you years after last played it.

I love Max Payne. He always speaks in a monotone voice because he’s been through a lot in and has no one really for him anymore, he stays to himself. All the people he cared about are dead, and the only things he can turn to for comfort are alcohol and painkillers. He don’t mess with anyone unless you mess with him.
Who else was utterly disappointed that GTAV didn't adopt this type of "run and gun" gameplay? Max Payne 3 was smooth as hell, and even the gunfire puts GTAV's to shame.

Nah, it would detract from Max's character if everyone in a Rockstar game had his trademark bullet time-style gunplay.
you can always play as michael and use his slow motion ability if you want that shit, also the GTA series is always about semi realism and nearly every game in the series you play (except like the top down view ones) always require you to be in cover during shootouts. also it would damage a character's plot in a GTA game if they can just run and gun thanks to them being addicted to painkillers
I thought mp3 was a little sluggish, if you were strafing for example, max would not move as fast as you would move the sticks, not as fluid as gtaV, he had to finish the steps animation to change direction, running and walking is practically the same and there was no option to roll after falling flat on the ground from a shootdodge, that could've made the move more usable in latter difficulties, it was pretty much to show off, otherwise you would be shot dead as max took ages to get up leaving him useless.
Max payne 3, gta and/or other games should use each one their own mechanics
GTA V NEEDS this kind of play style sometimes. Even GTA Online that's constantly getting changes in gameplay. Max Payne 3 is incredibly short for it's gameplay, I feel like I still need like 5 hours of storyline for me to be satisfied. IMO the best game ever, just next to the Metro trilogy
What I love about Max Payne is this contrast between his feelings and his actions.
He's heavily depressed and is an addict, not being able to move forward for decades, always beating himself up and kind of enjoying living as a masochist.
But when it comes to action, he has no hesitation and will go through any type of danger by charging head on. And will go through pain and suffering just to get it done. The exact opposite of his feelings. You might say he has a death with, but no one suicidal would put up this much of a fight and do all he can to come out alive. And I like to think that this is what helps him balance his life and deal with his emotional stress. If he can't control his emotions, at least his actions will do all the work
Max isn't exactly suicidal, he doesn't have a deathwish, he just doesn't care if he lives or dies
Its infuriating how nobody talks about this game, almost 10 years later and it still looks badass. Rockstar should definitely release another max payne game. Or atleast incorporate more of these mechanics in future games.
Trend is toward massive online multiplayer, which is opposite of Max Payne.
Maybe they'll figure out a way to keep narrative meaningful, but I'd rather they don't sell out.

Never played it and my phone is struggling to process the video I haven't even gotten past the black screen yet and the time stamp is still 0:00:00 and for the longest time I haven't played the first Max Payne until a friend of mine suggested that I get the Android version yesterday so I did and beat it 53 minutes ago.

The simplicity of Max is why I really REALLY love his character.
He has things that are just unacceptable to him; abuse of women, manipulation and betrayals.
He follows a slippery slope hypocritical ideology and he doesn't pretend to be anymore then he is. Idk theres something really grounded about a character like Max which is why im both saddened and really happy he found his own means of wrapping up his story and he gets to walk into that sunset alive.
Well, at least until someone decides to make another game in a decade or so

I absolutely LOVE the dialogue and narration in the dead-air while you walk between segments. It doesn't feel like filler or some bullshit to build onto the story, it's like actual segments that Max reflects on past, future, or present events.

Holy crap, that was a cinematic game! Over two years old, and looks current-gen! Awesome voice acting, and the visuals were awesome!

I remember hearing from people this game was ass so i decided to watch this playthrough. Honestly, i see no problems. It does run and gun better than uncharted but still gives off that movie feel. Combat seems smooth and fun, and the story seems great. And the game still looks great, i do wish they'd remaster the series or give us a sequel though. To many games these days rely on flashy set pieces instead of gritty writing and dialogue.
I love the New Jersey part, like the good old times...

One of my favourites, finished it about ten times. Not only because I mostly feel like a drunk piece of garbage. It's the story and atmosphere. Or maybe that's exactly why I adore it. Rockstar just did a great job.
A raw and real story. No superheroes or happy endings.
Doing the right thing and courageously standing up for justice usually ends in tragedy.
But somebody has to do it.

I think they took visual inspiration from Man on Fire (2004) for the cinematics. The filters are very similar.

The way this game was presented was fantastic.
No English subtitles to show how alienated he feels in a foreign land.
Cutscenes look disoriented to showcase his addiction and mental state.
Both Max and the Broncos underestimated each other.
Max failed to see how deep the corruption in Brazil really went; the Broncos didn't realize Max's cynicism, and that once he caught onto one lie all their others soon came to light.

This was a great game, but one of my major gripes is how they had Max casually throw Mona's memory away. I understand the need to have her die (she is the femme fatale, after all), but at the very least, they were comrades in arms and lovers, if only for a moment. They should have had Max do something like plant a bullet at her grave, instead of flowers, in memory of their adventures together as well as the figurative "bullet in her head" that Max described in part 2.

2021, still waiting for a remastered version of Max Payne 3 for PS4
Nobody really bought the games and even 3 sold very little, the multi-player mode support dropped really early and it was a disappointment in sales as I know.
MP1 was known too little, more fun games came and nobody remembered the game when MP2 came out, too much time passed and when MP3 came out it was marketed as a more casual game with very little marketing and thus I think there never will be a MP4 sadly
@@uuffzz 3 didn’t sell “really little”, just by Rockstar standards. By 2013 it had already sold 4 million copies which is actually pretty good overall. With nearly 10 more years of digital and physical copies and recently all 3 games being put on Xbox One / Series X, its had its time.
It’s just that Rockstar is used to every title of theirs selling like absolute hotcakes, and the amount of money and detail they put into Max Payne 3 didn’t have enough returns for them. GTA 5 the next year had way less detail than this game but again, it sold like hotcakes

this is my favorite game of the 2010s. I know not alot of people liked it but I did. I love the noir genre, I love the fact that this game didn't hold your hand, I love it took it places were games haven't really been sense and I love this story.

Max Payne 3 is a very underrated game that needs to be remastered also the cutscenes is some of the best in gaming history IMO also the way they did the game sometimes almost looks like multiple cameras were used even though it's a video game
I just find it hilarious how every villain/goon thinks they can kill Max when the man has the sheer audacity to hunt down Nicole Horne and the Aesir company in the worst snow storm in NYC on a vendetta killing spree, completely annihilate the Russian gang of Vladimir Lem and the Punchinellos, survive a gunshot to the head, an overdose of the Valkyr drug...like does anyone read the news or check his file? You screw with Max Payne, he will find you and he will make you pay!
