Thankyou for the wonderful service you are doing for the people of Adelaide by researching & documenting our historical buildings before they are lost.
Thank you Paul your the best home explorer out here hand down in my book. You always go to great lengths to find all you can about these houses and land to tell us about.I loved this house because of it simplicity style.I can't wait for the rest of this series of buildings and houses.
WOW! You found so much information! I absolutely love the history of it all. Thanks again for sharing that all with us. I forgot to add, man I’d kill for that art deco Stain glass hutch/cabinet. 🥰😍❤️
Another great explore mate wonderful history of the Otto family, definitely an old Gem. That old scale looked pretty old maybe very early 1900s cheers mate😊
Awww that left me so sad to see the house gone. 😢 The end of an era, the people who lived there no longer alive, many years of happy family moments. Now to be replaced and forgotten by generations to come. So glad that you have that documented. Thanks for another awesome explore.
I love it when you explore all the old homes and delve into the history of it. Thankyou Paul for all your hard work that goes into doing this. You are my favourite explorer ❤
Paul, your history checking and explaining to those of us who are interested is greatly appreciated. It completes your story of the demolition of the buildings. Lots of history gone with not only the demolished house but the buildings of the timber business. 👌
I am really enjoying your research. I remember when we had some flooring done in the late 70’s they used to use masonite under the underlining which sometimes meant you had to adjust the doors to open and close. 🙄
Another awesome place to explore and this older abandoned house there in Stepney is a great house and property, i also like hearing the history behind the houses and the people who lived in them before they became abandoned in later years Thank You for another great video. 🇦🇺🤠🇦🇺
🌟Hi Paul, another beautiful old gem with lots of history and love I absolutely love these homes such a shame it’s gone forever. Can’t wait to see the continuation of the series. Thank you for the tour I feel better even though I’m under the weather! ❤😊x 🌟
So sad to demolish a su hier beautiful house ! In France , it’s the same thing ! Merci beaucoup pour vos films ! Ce sont des voyages exotiques pour nous ici ! 😊
At about the 21:00 time stamp their are 2 bench scales for measuring out bolts, nuts, screws and the like by weight instead of counting. Great getting the history of the house as well a lot of work involved thank you.
Ah, nice, another history lesson, nice touch with the old timey music. It's amazing that people have left this old home plus others in mostly original condition, not like today we throw money away for the sake of fashion. Thanks for sharing. Cheers, MM :)
I thought the light fixture in the hall was a beauty. I expected you to tell us it was art deco. The arch in the hall was beautiful as well!! On the second run I noticed they hadn't salvaged the hall arch or the ceiling fixtures..sad!!
Oh my, those were some beautiful looking original light fixtures, until we got to the ugly out of place plastic one at 26:07, at which point I had to chuckle, then chuckle again when I seen it appropriately refused in the backyard at 36:12. I'm glad some things were salvaged. Thanks for the tour Paul! Stayin tuned waiting for part 2! 👍🤠
What a great bit of history youve found in that area. The old bathtubs are a great find. There was also a wooden stick left in the bathroom basin that i believe to be used in the twin troughs, to move hot linen from one side to the other so you didnt scold your hands. My Nan still used hers in her laundry for many years.
Urbex Indigo thanks my friend for sharing this wonderful history of this home i really enjoyed it and i can't wait for part 2 to your video i am from the U.S.A and i always enjoy your videos on your channel and God Bless.
A Huge Thank You for history, just sad to see so much already removed & knowing whats to come, esp the sign near the end of video.... Developers, Uck....
The old girl is in a pretty bad shape I like to c them as much as u like to explore them yes it is sad to c them going or gone but replacing them isn't good either again love it Paul ❤❤
Hi paul, thanks for getting back to me. My grandparents lived there for many years. Im not sure how many year they lived there, my dad was from Adelaide and when he was a young he lived at semaphore. I would love to look into the past of my grandparents home. I will one day. I would hate to see the home demolished. Cheers deb
Very Good vid with provenance!!!At 18.30min those c1900 railway platform scales were amazing!! They must have used them for weighing goods before sending them off so they knew how much to charge the customer. Also, the cabinet handle display plate you flipped over at 21min was an indication they sold kitchen cabinet handles at the factory at some point as well. Love the revisit of the house. I would call those bath tub legs queen Anne or cabriolet style as they lacked the carving of the clawfoot. Would have liked you to open the red lid bin with the black cross on it and the oven doors. You never know what’s inside 😀
Hi realist :-) Thanks for the support and watching. You know your stuff, glad you found all these little details and explained them. More like this on the way :-)
Another fantastic video. Thanks for including the research you do. Much appreciated. Every home has a story that needs to be told. I find myself shedding a few tears over the last couple of videos. I know progress needs to happen, however,, I miss the Adelaide of yesterday . Have a great week 👍🏻
Whenever I see the cracks in these old places, I,m remined of the earthquake- it was in the mid fifties, I,m not sure what year, as I was about 7 yrs old and at 166 Hampstead rd, Broadview and my mum telling me to hang onto the fence- but the fence was moving !! and then jumping the cracks in the ground !! I was too fascinated to be afraid !! LOL a crack opened up in the northern wall of that house that you could put your hand through. Thanks for all your work.
nice explore paul love the old styled ovens nice old style homes like this i really like the set out look forward to part 2 & 3 thanks for sharing paul.
I've lived in a similar house (Same era) with a similar chain fence. And that same house also had a one of those leadlight cupboards in the kitchen. The bath was also the same. Similar structural problems.
Hi Deb 😁 yes I looked it up, a beautiful old symmetrical Villa 😊 how long ago were they still living there? I have always wondered about those homes that are all now businesses
My grandmother lived on Chatham Rd Keswick in a stunning Queen Anne villa. Last time I drove past it looked like it wasn't being kept up or lived in. It's stunning inside.
Hi paul, wow great episode and what a wonderful history on that old girl. Im not sure if you got my comment on my grandparents home that they lived in keswick. Hampton Rd keswick.still standing. Now a business called nextron.l think thats how you spell it. Many memories in that home. Thanks again for your great work paul. Cheers deb
Well it lasted a hundred years, and about 50 or 60 years as a family home. Time waits for nobody, on the one hand it is sad because the new homes built have no style or soul. But on the other those that move into the new homes are just starting life over. But will the new tract homes built there last one hundred years? I bet not...
Thanks Paul, the back story is just as, or more interesting as the home. I puts a name and a face to what we or most have forgotten. I have seen at least one of your videos where a person wrote that that was her gandma's home and thanked you for the tour thru the home she played in 40 years ago.
Thankyou for the wonderful service you are doing for the people of Adelaide by researching & documenting our historical buildings before they are lost.

Thank you for documenting another brilliant old house, before it goes forever.

Thank you Indigo with all the HISTORY!!! Makes it more ALIVE this way!!! Is OTTO the new Auto Insurance being sold in the U.S. A.???

Good morning, Paul. I'll be back 😀
Hurry up…we can’t start without you. I’ll have one white coffee plus 2 pieces of toast with Vegemite. Thanks in advance. 😁
@@tinasteer2507 What a great brekky choice 😄
The advertisement for Otto townhouses looks strikingly like Sodosopa from South Park 😂
even though its gone one good thing is that you have it saved for ever on film
What a beautiful house, what a shame it’s left abandoned to rot away! Cool video mate! ❤️🤘👍
A lot of renovated grand old classics in this street for future generations.
Great research, great vid, great old classic home....

A long life and beautiful home.
My favorite Australian!! Great explore! 😊😊😊
Love the old homes...The hall way fretwork usually had a pair of dark velvet curtains attached on a rail an acted as a private divider.
Grew up in the area in the 60's and 70's, and was quite often at Otto's with my dad when he needed hardware. Don't recall the houses too much
Cheers Kasual-Kampers :-) Always great to hear from locals and their memories :-)
The cast iron bathtub
is an antique dates
back to 1920 and 1950s
and later.
What a beautiful old home. Great info on the company too. Thanks Paul for another peek into the lives in the past x
