I pick up a 690 last week and I have no regrets👍🏼 I did go look at a 701 and will admit that the seat is a little more comfortable. I also got the same warranty on the ktm as the husky with no additional charge so that’s a win

I rode that bike from London to the south of Spain. That seat was a real pain in the ass. Great bike though.

Really bro? Is it a reliable bike because i have a new kawi z9 and honestly it bores me a 4 cylinder. I think i'm gonna switch to husky.
@@Snotroggel453 I did about 7500 miles from new on it and It served me well. They use a little oil when ridden hard and like all bikes have their own small problems but over all this bike is very reliable and very easy to work on.
That was the 1 thing it didnt like was how the seat looks xD and wanted the more aggressive lines on a bike. Can't wait to you gear it down,will be a blast!

@@madbroindustries 2k km since february and had the 1st service and oil change which was around 150 euros uh. Had some oil leak but the service fixed it. no problem so far, i love it.

I got a question here. I know that ktm 690 has supermoto mode for abs and for traction control and in this mode you can skid it stoppie and wheelie no problem. Sounds like the 701 does not have this supermoto mode or am I wrong? That would actually make a big difference in my book.
The supermoto mode is what allows u to wheelie skid stoppie they both have same maps
I have the KTM 690r enduro.. puts a smile on my face every day.. My KTM came with 5yr warranty on motor, not sure on miles..this is in australia.
Both good choices, I went with 701 vs 690 just because it was in stock lol

For the good 690, buy 2019/2020 because its euro4 engine, and with power commander is the best bike , the old version as good engine but they very hungry with oil engine .... I have 2020 model, i have buy for 2021 euro 5 engine and im not happy, sorry for my english im french Guy😎

Good comparison vid. I chose mostly because of the look as well. And 'cause Husky gave me a nice deal on the bike. And the dealership is closer. :D
The thing I've noticed, is how the quickshifter was rather clunky in the beginning and wasn't too happy changing gears in lower revs, but now having ridden a little bit it starting to settle and I feel more comfortable using it.
Yeah exactly 😂 same haha. Same thing with the quick shifter, I talk about it in one of my older videos. It was really clunky at first but if you use it at higher rpms it shifts like butter
I like the 690's looks better, but I prefer the 701 SM since it has smoother power delivery.
I haven't gotten to ride the 690 yet but the 701 is definitely smooth haha
Chester Anderson From things that I've read, the 690 is snappier, and is more rough on the throttle, but those are likely the pre-2017 models.

Chester Anderson Really. I'm not going to bother with mine since the bike is already quick. Just an Arrow slip-on for mine, and that's it.
@@E2Moto I havent done the exhaust yet, maybe that'll help. I'm use to carbed 450/500s where if you sneeze on the throttle you do a backflip haha
I'm looking forward to buying one of these. In Europe, all bikes have at least 2 years warranty. Why are you so worked up about wheelying?
Just don't want to have bad compression/scoring from not braking it in properly!

It's definitely not as aggressive stock, hopefully with a tune and different gearing it will be more aggressive. But it's definitely more powerful, it has no problem doing 100, when my KTM struggled over 65
Your video quality is great, but you need to look into doing something about your sound. Do you have a deadcat on your mic? Makes a big difference. There are also ways to tweak the sound in post, there are noise reduction programs that are actually semi-decent.

Nope, The 701 is not as smooth and comfortable around turns at 80 mph compared to a true sports bike. But it is twice the fun.
Yeah definitely not anywhere near a sport bike but for a upright moto it's impressive 😂

Kinda feeling your pain riding around our town right now, lol. The streets are empty, and then less cars mean less help to ride through stoplights. I had to avoid left turns, and make several detours just to finish a couple of errands last Sunday.
Any issues with the bike so far? I want one but I've read there are issues with wiring and sensors.
Only got to 1200 miles before a car totaled it but zero issues for those 1200 miles!

It's definitely heavier but if you've been riding for a while it's completely manageable

Here is a question for you about the exhaust header. How are you doing riding in jeans and not burning your pants on the header? You look rather tall, does your leg come close to the header pipe?
I've definitely come close to burning my leg a few times, it gets very hot. I just stay aware of it and don't hug my leg there

@@ericjames7680 the two wire thing is less hot but they will still burn you and your clothes. Ive burned holes in a couple different pairs of pants. This may end up being the catalyst for going aftermarket full exhaust. If you're aware of the pipe enough, you can avoid it, but when youre trying to make sure youre holding on while RIPPING sometimes, it's easy to get your foot in position to get your pants singed. This muffler and exhaust are HOTTTTTTT

Is it just me that can tell that the bike doesn’t have much low end power
It has the power but it's geared to do 140mph from factory 😂 so it's robbed of a lot of torque, stay tuned for the sprocket change
I had the 2017 ktm 690 enduro r I converted to SM. I left the enduro hearing and it was my favorite bike I've ever owned. I going to pick up another now since they offer the SMC in the US. Love the vids
